This is a private roleplay between Sara [biki] and Bataar [kaya], please do not post!

Setting

Bataar goes to Sara for some help after a fairly brutal battle with Huang-fu.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 15, 2011 7:38 pm

It had only taken him a few well-placed questions to figure out where Sara was now living and he was trudging in that direction, wincing every once in a while. The reason for this display of pain was the fact that there were four needles lodged in his bicep, courtesy of Huang-fu whom he'd just finished fighting. The Mongol had been doing his best to swallow the pain, but he knew that he probably couldn't deal with this by himself-- someone else was going to have to pull out the needles. It wasn't that he was chickening out or anything, but that it was next to impossible not to mention extremely painful.

He reached the ger at last and paused at the entrance, wondering if he'd be intruding upon anything. Beyond that, he hadn't stopped to consider that the girl might be asleep by now-- it was, after all, very late at night(or perhaps early morning). After considering things for far too long he decided to tap upon the doorway, which was slightly more firm than that of his yurt. He could always wait out here until the morning, because he sure as hell wasn't going to some random healer for this.

"Sara?" he asked, not wanting to duck inside until he received a response from the girl. Waiting was, he supposed, an option. It wasn't as if there was anything he could really do on his own to remedy the new injury. He merely hoped none of the needles had been poisoned, or he might well be dead or seriously ill by the morning.

Bataar experimentally yanked at one of the needles in his arm and grimaced, biting his lip to keep from yelping or anything of the sort. He was certain that the needles had all penetrated his actually muscle, which worried him to some extent. He'd get Huang-fu back one of these days-- he would, and next time he wasn't going to let the fighter run away from him. He could only hope that the other man was more injured than himself.

So, she had moved out from the safe haven which was her guardians estate and was now trying to be somewhat independent. She had invested in some land using all the money she had collected in the three years since she came to Lunaria (all those part time jobs actually added up to something slightly substantial!). It was not very big however it was home, her first home all to herself. Seeing as she had nothing left to actually build onto it she had called on the help of some of the friends she had made. In the end they all came together to help her set up a ger, it was nothing fancy but it was hers.

Inside there was a fireplace, some chests, a table, some cushions and a double bed with a few more bits here and there. She did not have any kind of running water so she had taken a leaf out of Bataar's books and started to bathe in the lake which was just outside, it was cold but sometimes you could not be picky. So far things had been relatively smooth running and to be honest she was quite enjoying her new residence. She felt like she actually achieved something, she was proud of her small yet comfortable home.

She had done to bed early that night after a long hard day at the temple and was snuggled under her blankets when Bataar had arrived. Yet it was not him that awoke her. Laid next to her bed was a white wolf with bright yellow eyes. He was a young male, one of Nori's recent litters. When she moved out Hua had gifted him to Sara as both a farewell gift and some protection. Sara had called him Ghost (both because of his white fur and her connection with the spirits, it seemed somewhat fitting) at the moment the young wolf was growing after hearing noises from outside.

This woke Sara up almost instantly, she pulled the covers to her chin and leaned up in bed, she had never lived on her own before and having no-one else with her made her a little jumpy. Though as soon as she heard his voice calling her name she sighed heavily, instantly recognising who was seeking her. She got out to bed and grabbed a robe which was slung over one of the chests, it was white and made out of a silky material which was soft on her skin. Admittedly Sara never slept in much, she hated to feel restricted as she slept so it was a good thing he did not just come in, she had already seen far too much of him, she did not want to return the favour. She tied a bow around her waist to keep the material in place before stretching slightly.

She gave Ghost a quick stroke to reassure him. "Good boy." She praised him with a small smile, her voice gentle and soothing. He did right to wake her, he was a good guard dog and she wanted him to know that he did the right thing by waking her. Yet she knew Bataar was no threat, with that the wolf curled up once more, his eyes still ever vigilant to make sure no harm came to his owner.

She yawned and brushed her hair over her shoulder, it was a little bushier than normal because she had been asleep, however she doubted that if he could not wait till morning, he had the time to wait for her to make herself presentable. She opened her door, her eyes tried to adjust to the light so she could look on him, although it was almost pitch black - she had not yet noticed the blood. "Hero? What are you doing here at this time?" She asked with a curious look in her eyes, it was cold so she did not really feel like having a conversation in her doorway. "Come in, please make yourself at home." She added moving back inside her home, she wondered over to the centre of the circular room were her fire was located, pouring some oil on the coals and wood before throwing a match. In a instant the room was illuminated.

Ghost leaned up and yawned, his sharp eyes staring over in the man's direction, Sara cradled herself in her arms and turned around to face him. Truth was she was a little worried, wondering what was so urgent he had tracked her down - it was usually her who went to him.

The Mongol heard a low growling from the inside of the ger and frowned, wondering if he'd somehow come to the wrong place. He'd never met Sara's wolf, in any case, and was just about to turn around and leave when the door opened, revealing a fairly disheveled girl that he recognized as the one he'd come for. He gasped in relief, entering the structured tent and seating himself on the wooden floor near the fire. The needles poking out of his skin looked even worse in the light, and he could not help but wince.

Bataar took a moment to release a ragged sigh before deciding he ought to explain himself. "Sorry." he muttered, gesturing to the needles in his arm. "I can't get these out." The man sounded resigned. Clearly he'd done his best not to come here, mainly because of his aversion to healers, but it had been his only option. He couldn't afford to pass out or anything trying to pull the needles from his skin-- he wouldn't put it past Huang-fu to finish him off in his sleep.

The captain gazed into the fire, his elbows placed carefully upon his knees. He looked shell-shocked, to say the least-- disoriented and tired. His green eyes never concentrated on one point for too long and he looked almost as if he were on the verge of passing out, which was no doubt a combination of things. Still, he'd trudged quite a ways to get here and he was hoping Sara would consent to help him. Then maybe he could curl up somewhere hidden and go to sleep. It seemed like a good idea, but he wasn't entirely sure-- he didn't often go to people for help.

Bat glanced at the wolf, feeling nauseous, not even bothering to act threatened by the creature. If it wanted to chew on him, he'd let it, just so long as he could get these damned needles out. In any case, he'd have to admit it, out loud. "I need your help."

Sara's pale and ghostly eyes watched him as he took a place by the fire, the flames his clothes and muscles a soft yellow glow, behind them their shadows danced and flickered on the walls. He was asking for her help? He was so reluctant to accept it last time this did take her by surprise. In a way she took it as a complement, she must have done something right last time to make him come to her. She tilted her head and looked down at his wound, she tried to stop her face from showing shock or surprise when she realised what had happened, but it was hard to hide the fact her jaw dropped slightly and her eyes widdened, were those going through his arm? She felt her heart skip a beat.

When he said he was sorry she looked to the side slightly, he was not being his usual strong self, he seemed weaker and tired - it upset her to see him like this. "There is no need to apologise, you know you can come to me with anything." She reassured him with a comforting smile, it was a good thing she went to bed early. This was not the time to be tired, especially if she was going to be treating his wounds, it seemed like a delicate job indeed. He was more than a patient, he was her friend and she wanted to make sure she did not mess up. Not on him.

She looked at him as if he was dim, he did not need to ask for her help, he should know that. "Of course I will help you. I will get you something for the pain." She nodded and wondered over to one of her wooden, decorative chests, opening it she brought out a glass bottle. She pulled out the cork and smelled the fluid inside, the brown liquid could be seen swishing about in the container - it almost looked like wine. Sara was not an expert at potions and remedies, however her master had taught her how to make a very basic painkiller which was affective and quick to take effect, it would ease him and help him relax. She wondered over to him and put the bottle in his lap, no doubt he would take it all, this looked extremely painful from her point of view. She knelled down by his side and tilted her head - her long teal hair almost scrapping the floor, it was obvious to see the concern in her eyes, even more so when she gave his injuries a closer look.

She however tried to hide the fact and instead did her best to look on the bright side. "I told you Hero, you should not get hit so much." She joked with a small forced chuckle, referring to their previous conversation about his scars. She really did feel very protective of him, he meant a lot to her - he was one of the only friends she had left and she hated to see him hurting like this. She could tell he was hurting... Oh, Hero...

"It looks pretty bad, I guess you found yourself in a battle tonight?" It was more of a observation than a question, she did not want to pry but she was curious and she could not hide the fact. She looked at his arm and thought for a moment, wondering what she could do to help. First job was taking those things out of his arm, then she would use magic to heal his wounds before he bled out too much. It was what he did, he was a warrior, he was a Captain, she had to remember that - of course he was going to get hurt, she needed to accept that. She could not change his destiny, just aid him when she could. She leaned forward and put her hand on his knee gently.

Bataar didn't look terribly pleased at all when he saw Sara's reaction to his wound this time. He knew she'd try to be as level-headed as possible about it, but she looked distressed to say the least. He had hoped it wouldn't be that bad, but he knew now that he'd probably created quite the predicament. The captain raised his eyes to the domed ceiling and took a few deep breaths for good measure, knowing that he'd need even more endurance now than he had before. If Sara looked shocked, even for a moment, he knew he was in for a trial.

He had indeed been weakened by the battle he'd just gone through, but he knew he might be in trouble if he didn't take care of the needles buried in his arm. Sarangerel had been the only one he'd known to come to, as uncomfortable as he'd been with the choice. His mother would have scolded him, going to a legionnaire for help-- it tended not to be the best idea, as history might tell, going to the other side for help during a full-blown war. All the same, Bat knew Sara was to be trusted. It was far more of a gut feeling than anything else and he wasn't about to turn on his gut-- it had saved him many times before.

The captain nodded, looking faintly uncertain. "I woke you up." he pointed out, glancing at her robe with a faint flush of embarrassment coloring his cheeks. Clearly she'd decided not to take the time to get ready in order to help him-- he appreciated it, but detested feeling like a hassle, as much as he knew Sara didn't view him in that manner. He knew she'd take care of him here, but that didn't stop a feeling of guilt from arising.

"Something for the pain would be good." he commented, grimacing. Bataar picked up the bottle she'd placed in his lap with his good arm, sniffing it and making a face before downing the putrid concoction. His mother had sometimes put together liquids such as this so he wasn't quite as wary in taking it. He knew his pain would be reduced, and that was a great driving force when it came to his cooperation. The less suspicious he was, the easier it would be for the both of them to figure this out.

Bataar did his best to smile as she tried to make light of his wounds, but probably looked more like he was baring his teeth. Smiles did not come easily to people with needles lodged in their upper arms, after all. "There's no helping it." he tried to explain, silently cursing Huang-fu. "Yes, a battle." he added, paling slightly, for it had just occurred to him that it was more than possible that Sarangerel knew and liked Huang-fu. They were, after all, both legionnaires. "It was nothing big." he added hurriedly, not wanting to name any names. Legionnaires could be fairly tightly knit as far as he'd seen and Sara was probably no exception to the rule. For all he knew, she could get into a great deal of trouble for taking care of him like this.

He took another shaky breath, looking uncomfortable with what he knew had to be coming. "You know you don't have to do this if you don't want to." he said, placing his larger hand over Sara's on his knee, as if to pause her. This wasn't just a comment made out of courtesy-- he meant it. He needed Sarangerel to seriously consider what she was doing, healing a noble captain in her ger following a battle. It was nothing she shouldn't be thinking twice about.

She shook her head a little. "That can soon be fixed, I fully intend to return to the land of dreams as soon as I have taken care of you. You are far more important than the fantasies which keep me entertained on a night." She stated with a small shrug, he should not feel bad for waking her - in fact she would have been mad at him if he had left it till morning. She wanted to make sure that if this happened again he would come to her, despite the hour and despite how small his wounds may be. She healed for a living, however Bataar was one of the few people who she felt a personal obligation to help. Noble or not.

Then something interesting happened. Did she just see that right? No, no way, her eyes must have been deceiving her, was that her Hero with a a splash of crimson tainting his cheeks? She blinked before her eyes went to look at the side for a moment, maybe she should have taken more time to get ready. Her night robe actually covered more skin than her new conduit's outfit did, it was made out of a thin material which flowed free and draped the contours of her frame nicely. To her it was just something cool to wear around the ger ( which the fire made warm quite quickly. ) She had put on a little weight, losing it around her waist but gaining it on her bust and legs, as the spirit said, it seemed like her body was trying to compete with that of his mothers.

Why was he blushing? She did not expect it of him. It might be because he was older or maybe it was because on first meeting she had seem a quite stunning women exiting his home ( even if it was his mother ), she had just never imagined him to do so. All she could too was giggle with a faint blush of her own before she went on to explain the side effects of the potion. It was nice to see he had dome human qualities, he usually hid his feelings so well - either that or he was just at a constant stage of, meh.

"That is quite potent, if you feel dizzy or tired at all do not panic, its a sign that the painkiller is working." Sara thought for a moment, last time he had passed out during her treatment, however with him asleep she was able to stitch him up and finish that laundry. Yet she knew if he passed out whilst she was doing this it could cause more harm than help and she did not want to take that chance. "Infact, you might want to lay down on my bed so you do not end up passing out on the floor and hurting yourself again." She suggested with a small chuckle cocking her head in its direction, she had both fur and silk sheets - blood came out easily enough. "Take advantage, its probably the only time I am ever going to invite you to my bed, Hero." She stated with a wink and a playful smirk. Maybe she was still trying to make light of the situation, but she thought he would appreciate that a lot more than he being cold and serious. She was here to make him feel better, both physically and mentally.

To his words on the battle she gave a smile and a simple. "I see," As a response, If he did not want to talk about it she was not going to make him. He was a Noble Captain and she could fully understand why he did not want her to know his plans, strategies or business. Maybe it would be a lot safer if she did not know.

Sara's eyes darted to meet his as he put his hand on hers. She had always been quite a touchy person, maybe it was because of Yue'f influence over the years. She was always grabbing his arm or leaning her head on his shoulder. She had even sneaked in the odd quick hug or two when he was not expecting it. However he had never returned her gestures. She did not know why but in that moment she felt a knot in her stomach. "I want to." She stated sharply as soon as his mouth had shut, she wanted him to have no doubt in his mind that this she was not being forced to do this out of pity or duty. She wanted to help him. She genuinely wanted to help him.

There was a moment of silence. "That sounded strange, I mean why would I not want to?" She asked shaking her head a little. Why was he asking her these things? She simply did not understand. What was she going to do, turn him away? No, she would never do that.

She stood up, letting his hand fall off of hers and heading towards her bed. "Anyway lets not delay this any longer. Why don't you come and lay down - and do not think about protesting. Trust me, I am a doctor." She finished with her favourite line, it meant that she knew best and he should do what she said! Maybe out there she should really take his advise but this was her territory now, if he laid down it really would make her life a lot easier.

A sigh seemed to be the only thing for it. Sarangerel was one of the most obstinate people he'd ever known when it came to things like these, and it made him wonder if he'd touch on any pride, for even if she did not know it she might be proud about being a healer. It was often strange how the trait tended to reveal itself, but he was going to have to deal with it. After all, Bataar had come to her domain, now. "You might want to rethink your priorities." he muttered stealthily under his breath, with just a touch of sarcasm.

And as for the blush, well, Bat could not be counted upon to spare any sort of thought for that inadvertent action of his. Perhaps it was simply in reaction to the recognition that Sara was no longer the child he'd met a fairly long while ago, but it wasn't for the man to decipher. In any case, it was more than likely that he was loopy due to the fact that he still somehow had needles poking out of his arm. Thinking straight was no longer an option, too, as a result of the painkiller, although that robe was terribly thin and clingy(a truly absentminded note-- really). In short, it could have been anything.

Bataar nodded as she explained the effects of the painkillers, looking fairly unconcerned. "I think it may already be kicking in." he clarified, although he was determined not to glance at the needles anymore at this point. Upon her mentioning that he should sleep in her bed, however, it was his turn to look deeply obstinate. "You said you'd be going back to sleep after this-- I'm not taking your bed." he said hotly, glancing around the ger with a look of faint realization. Sara didn't intend for him to go pass out and sleep until morning under some random bush outside, as he'd planned, but instead wanted him to stay here.

It was not going to happen, as far as he could see, but it was going to take some effort to communicate that, especially as he was already feeling his actions through more of a foggy veil now that he'd downed the painkiller. "I won't pass out-- I'll go somewhere else." he said thickly, finding that his tongue was already somewhat uncooperative. Not passing out in order to go somewhere else was, apparently, easier said than done.

In any case, there would be no moving him if he didn't want to be moved. His size gave him that much power over himself, at least. He took a moment to comprehend Sara's fairly snappy reply to his rather serious inquiry. "But don't you understand the consequences?" he asked, looking slightly frustrated. There was a huge difference between wanting to do something while it still remained covert and wanting to do someone if ever you were caught. "I shouldn't have come here." he concluded heavily, even as she tried to explain that her actions were only natural. He thought he'd known that much from the start, that he shouldn't have come, but he had. There was no telling why.

Bat shot an obstinate glance at the bed before shaking his head boorishly and claiming a large chunk of the floor. "M'fine where I am." he announced, patting the floor beside him as if it were feather-soft(which it most certainly was not). Cooperation was not something that came easily to him, even if it was intertwined with light-hearted banter or anything of the sort. "Whatever Odval teaches you, I'm sure it requires good rest." he added, hoping he'd gotten the trump card here.

She gave him a stern look. "What about them? that is my risk to take not yours. As far as I am concerned you left your political views and title at the door, this is my home not the battle field which is Lunaria. Stop being so stubborn, Hero." Was he really bring up alliance? He said that it did not matter to him. She clenched her fist a little, maybe he had a point. She was yet again sticking out her neck and putting faith in a warrior on the other side of the war. However she could not help it, he had already worked his way into her heart and she could no longer ignore him. Maybe it was because she was a girl, but she could not just disregard people she cared about - it was just not in her nature. Maybe she would not take any more Noble friends, however he was already her friend and to her that meant she would be loyal to him until her death.

She sighed and looked to the side a little her voice returning to the soft tone that most people knew, she could not stay mad for long. "How about you? Would your soldiers not kick off if they knew you were sneaking off to see a Legion Conduit in the middle of the night, people talk, you took a risk too and as long as you are willing to take it then so am I. You are my friend Bataar, if there is anything worth risking your life for its the people you could not imagine living without." She shook her head, she realised something - this was the first time she actually called him by his name. She just did not know what else to do, she did not care who is was, however she knew she could not help the way he viewed her. Was she just a Legion Healer to him? No that was not true, he must see her as a friend, if not why come to her.

He was being stubborn once more it seemed, she wondered back over to him and knelled by his side. "Fine then, I can not move a mountain but if you collapse I am not going to be pleased. Try and relax, if you tense your arm it will only make my job harder." She nodded and placed his hand on her knee, putting hers on top to try and stop if from moving through she knew if he wanted to move it she would not be putting up much of a fight, he was stronger than her. She grabbed a needle with her free hand and took in a deep breathe counting down in her head before she pulled with all her strength. At first it was reluctant however as soon as it started to move it came out with ease, creating a fresh stream of blood.

Bataar shrugged, for a moment forgetting the needles in his arm, probably due to the painkiller. A wave of nausea rolled over him as he noted what he'd done and he quickly glanced away from his arm, looking faintly distressed. It probably wasn't the best thing in the world to have this argument at the current time, but it at least seemed relevant. "It's both our risks, and you know it." he replied, staring candidly at the girl. It was true enough, at least, even if he knew he'd caused it this time around.

He glanced over at her upon hearing her next comment and his lips parted as if he were about to respond. The captain slumped forward, however, meeting the floor rather more gently than Sara had threatened he might. His reply would have to wait until another day, or another few months, for he was assigned to go on a mission to the north beginning the next morning, which he would remember a little belatedly.

He'd wake up, find the needles gone, and be incapable of writing a note to explain himself, as well as incapable of waking the legionnaire. From there he would have to travel swiftly to his superiors and take on his job as he'd promised. It was going to be a grueling journey but, as ever, he would be prepared.

For now he would remain in the same place for a few hours, and later he might regret not remembering to explain to the girl why he'd had to leave so abruptly in the morning. There was, upon reflection, no telling how Sara might take his sudden departure given their previous conversation. He would probably be reduced to hoping that he hadn't seemed too rude, in any case. That was the best he could manage.

For the next hours, however, all that Bataar Jaoret needed was a little rest and recovery.

She knew he was going to do that, she knew. When he leant forward she dived to watch him, pulling him over slightly so he would fall asleep with his head on her lap, she rolled her eyes and then leaned over him to get to the other needles. "You big idiot." She muttered with a small sigh, she was not angry with him, she was just annoyed that there little argument would not be resolved tonight.

She tilted her head and leaned down to his ear. "I will always take that risk for you. Whenever you ask me too." She promised, it looked like she had a lot of work to do, at least now he could not protest or complain.
