The week passed in a blur, and before the girl knew it, it was Sunday afternoon, and she was in her bathroom, getting ready for her...
...Was it a date?
Ah! No time to think about that. Odette fixed her hair into their normal loops, and put on a grey newsboy style hat, making sure her hair still looked good. She smoothed her green shirt, making sure it fell right over her jeans, then bent down, making sure her jeans fell right over her converse shoes.
For her final touch, she put on a black and white summer scarf, smiling at the outfit she managed to throw together, hopefully Merric would like it as much as she did.
Glancing at the clock on the stove, the girl let out a cry, running out the door.
When she arrived at the café, she took a seat, glancing over a menu, trying not to make it seem like she was watching the door, waiting for Merric. After a minute or so, she didn't have to try, she stared at the menu, trying to decide between the grilled cheese sandwich, and the ham and brie sandwich. Both sounded so good!

Merric parked his bike outside of the small cafe, dropping the kick stand with a shoe. He sat on the motorcycle for a moment, taking a long time to remove his gloves. The bike was a Kawasaki, jet black in color, and one of those sporty types. It was relatively new (meaning it didn't have his ex all over it) and it was one of his favorite pieces of equipment, besides his bass. He never used the bike when driving to gigs (unless his band mates had his bass and amp already), but used it everywhere else.
He just really hoped Odette didn't ask to ride it. He was having lunch with her, not starting some sort of relationship. This brought up a point, one he'd been asking for days. Why the hell did he agree to this? Hell if he knew, but here he was. Best to get over this then...
Merric lifted himself off the bike and pulled his helmet off. He shook out his unruly blue hair (now helmet hair) and walked in, helmet under his arm. He looked around, ignoring the gazes of random girls who probably thought he was more like eighteen or twenty, until the familiar loopy hair of Odette caught his eyes.
"Anything good?" he asked casually as he slipped into a seat across from her and pulled out a menu. Part one, get into cafe and sit down, complete.

She blinked, then glanced up, flashing a smile at the male. "Oh. Hey there. You found the place okay, I take it?"
She held the smile for a moment, before looking back at the menu, seeming so torn.
"It's all good, and I came here knowing that I wanted grilled cheese...but they have two different types, and they both sound completely amazing."
After she stared at the menu for a few minutes more, her stomach growled loudly and she flushed, glancing up. "Whoops. Looks like me oversleeping is taking its toll...So, how have you been since the other day? Everything okay?"
Huh. Talking to him this time wasn't as difficult this time, in fact, it was almost enjoyable--despite the fact that Odette had been doing most of the talking.

He chuckled softly, eyes glancing down the menu. Oooh grilled cheese did sound good... though those other sandwiches sounded good and ohgodshe'stalkingthinkuparespondsMerr--
"Eh, been a'right. Some of the band mates were hassling me about today... or just poking fun. Haven't gone out with a girl in... five months or so, so..." he trailed off, more or less just saying what ever came to his mind first. So it kinda rambled on for a while there. Ah well.
Now grilled cheese, or pastrami... grilled cheese... or pastrami...

The more she stared at the sandwiches, the louder her stomach seemed to grow. Finally she closed her eyes and pointed.
Toasted ham and brie.
"Yes! I'm going to have you, you delicious sounding sandwich!" She all but cried out, closing her menu with glee.
After a moment she stared at Merric, her face growing pink. "Oh...Ah..."
...She had totally just talked to a menu in front of the guy she liked.
Way to go.
"Fi-five months, hm? That's a long time.." She hesitated, then took a sip of the water that the waitress had dropped off before Merric showed up. "I've never gone out with a girl, so, I think I've got you beat."
Totally not what he meant, but sure. Maybe he liked quick wit like that. It sure would be nice after the menu talking.

He looked up, blue brow raising over a silver eye. He smirked, albeit quietly and neigh noticeably, at her attempt at wit. Well, at least she was trying, over that rather.. enthusiatic outburst. Not necessarily a bad thing, the enthusiasm... just... scary.
Very scary. She was one weird chick, that was for sure.
"Maybe you should try it someday?" he said, unable to help himself. He was almost positively grinning, which for Merric was completely strange. What the hell dude you're a depressive little man (which he would like everyone to know is a lie, he is rather well endowed thank you.) who has no time at all, and is still somewhat in love with his ex. You shouldn't be grinning at creeper stalker chick here just because she's attempting ot be witty.
You shouldn't be enjoying yourself even!
So why was he actually having a good time?
He decided that was best left for being alone, so he dove back into the menu, hoping she hadn't seen his grin.

Odette did notice the grin, and felt her cheeks heat up just slightly. Wow. She had never seen Merric smile before. He had always looked so grumpy and sad all the times she could remember.
She hesitated, then gave a sigh. "I don't know. I hear girls are really high maintenance, I don't know if I could handle taking care of one other than myself."
She grinned in return, laughing. "Boys seem like they're so much easier to deal with. You ever dated one of them?"
....Oh my god...what kind of a stupid personal question was that...
She laughed once more, hiding her embarrassment.

The eyebrow raised again, and his eyes came up over his menu. There was an amused spark in them, something Merric had been without for a long time.
"Naw, but me and Greg have this awesome bromance thing going on," he said to her. Mentally, he'd decided on the pastrami, and that if Odette wasn't trying to be a creepy stalker, she wasn't half bad. She wasn't that bad on the eyes either, if he was being honest with himself. She was nothing to fawn completely over, but she wasn't ugly.
Merric's eyes appraised her for a moment before flicking back down at his menu, making sure he'd made a choice of food. What? It wasn't a crime to check out the chick you'd gone to lunch with. If anything, it showed that Merric was still somewhat a man on the inside, underneath all the stress and glum.
He glanced around the cafe for a moment, attempting to see if he could flag down a waitress and get food ordered. If her stomach had been any indication, the both of them were hungry.
And he had only said two hours for this date to his band so...

Odette laughed. "Bromance, huh? That's sexy." She stretched and glanced around, also seeming to wonder where the waitress was.
"Normally they don't take so long..."
Odette blinked as the waitress finally came to the table. "What can I get for the two of you today?" She gave a smile, and Odette ordered her sandwich, then looked back to Merric, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, waiting for him to order so the two could get back to talking.

Merric glanced up at the waitress, silver eyes doing the normal guy thing of checking her out. After finding the chick to be less than what he deemed sexy, he flicked his eyes back to his menu for a moment as Odette ordered.
"Pastrami, no mayo. And a glass of water," he said, handing the menu to the waitress who seemed to nod and smile extra special at Merric. The teen simply ignored her until she disappeared. He wasn't really that hot, was he? Yeah he had the voice of a bass guitar, and at times he could make it one smooth sound, but jeez he was only seventeen.
"So, what do you do when not painting bass guitars to ask guys out with, Odette?" he asked, a smug little look on his face as he brought up her rather creeeeeeeeeeeepy ceramic present to him (which, if she was curious, he had actually kept, and placed on a shelf next to some other statues he'd acquired over the years of superheros.). He found the fact he was comfortable around her incredibly surprising, but hey, he was giving her the benefit of the doubt; he wasn't exactly the easiest person to approach, given his rather... violent tendencies when he was stressed, and he'd been withdrawn for the last five months. He had to give her props for trying in the way she did.
He wouldn't admit it, but it made her kinda sorta more appealing to him because of it. But that was just because of hormones. Yup yup. Just teenage hormones.

Odette leaned back in her chair. "Hey, hey. Don't go blaming the guitar for this...er...date. That wasn't my intentions. I mean it."
She grinned. "It worked out in my favor, though. Completely unintentional. And as for what I like to do, the ceramics is it. I love clay and making different things."
The girl laughed at this. "I'll make everyone in your band little figurines, if you thought they'd like it." Ceramics was always a good escape, the clay would always do as you asked, and it could never make you feel inferior. Clay was friendly.
Odette smiled at him. "I have a room reserved for my pottery in my house...Mom even got me my own kiln. If you ever want to just...make stuff. Just let me know...My tools are a lot newer than the ones at school."

He snorted. He highly doubted the band wanted little figurines, even if she could make 'em. The band was having a hilarious time with teasing the ******** out of Merric about going on this date with a fangirl; the figurines were just going to make it so they never took Merric seriously again.
"Nah, I've never been that into makin' stuff like that. I play music; best release for me out of everything I've tried," Except maybe the feel of chick while I'm makin' out with her... and other things. Nothing tops that." He added the last part mentally. He was of the male subspecies. He thrived on...well... sex. Or he did. Not lately. Not that he was gunna go out and change that or anything, and definately not with Odette--- though get him drunk and anything was possible-- but it was the simple truth. He did, on lots of occasions, think with his nethers and not his brain.
Its a guy thing. Just accept it and move on.
The waitress brought him his water, and he promptly ignored her again.
"Do anything besides pottery, Odette? Favorite music? Movies?" he inquired, taking a swig of his water and totally not looking super hot while doing so, nope..

She couldn't help it. Odette stared at Merric for a moment, a slight redness tinting her cheeks.
Shouldn't it...be illegal to look that way?
"Um..." Focus, Odette, focus. He asked you a question!
"Movies? Honestly...I like...the war movies. Where they have the senseless slaughter of seemingly hundreds of underpaid extras..."
She shook her head slightly, trying to clear her thoughts. "The ones that are trying to be historically accurate, I mean. The ones that pretend to. I'm not really into the whole Sci-fi thing...And music, I really like Classical music. It's relaxing. What about you, Merric?"
Good...Flushing was under control now. No more embarrassing staring.

Merric saw the blush flush the girl's face. A small smug look of satisfaction played over his features for a moment, before he reigned it in. Jeez, Odette was bringing out every smug guy trait he had... ever. He blamed a lot of it on not dating in months... or even acknowledging the female subspecies. He watched her for a moment, watching her fumble in her embarrasment.
It was kinda cute.
Wait wait HOLD UP. Merric thought she was cute?! This was creepy stalker chick remember. Stalker fan girl chicks were creepy, never cute. NEVER. Yet Merric couldn't deny watching her act as such was rather cute.
He really needed to never forsake women ever again.
"Oldies music, ya know the classics. Beatles, Queen, the Who. As for movies, anything but sappy chick flicks," he said taking another sip of his water.

Odette's eyes lit up at the mention of the Beatles.
"Ah...I loved the Beatles...the sixties are one of my favorite time periods in the nineteen hundreds...they were so fun..."
She grinned, then chuckled just slightly to herself. No need to tell him that the Beatles were really the only band she liked from the twentieth century...no. She figured that was really better left unsaid.
"I'm not a fan of sappy chick flicks either...except, there was the one where the main girl got beheaded in the end...Anne Boleyn? She totally had it coming."
