The herds were settling into these new lands quite well. They weren't so entirely different from their previous home but like anything new they would need to learn the ways of these lands, what was safe, what wasn't and truly find their place here. Delnar wasn't overly worried, so far everything had been running smoothly, minus one or two small things. Those tiny incidents had been promptly fixed by the herds leaders and now everyone was settled. Some were willing to stay where they were now, content with the lands and what they had to offered, while others wished to venture further out and see exactly what was out there before settling down.
Delnar was a mix of both, he liked the area they were currently in as it provided them with everything they could need, food, water, shelter. And yet he wondered just what was out there, were there places better than this one, and just what types of creatures lived here as well. There had been some talk of Soquili much larger than themselves roaming these lands but the details were vague at best. So one morning Delnar decided to take a long walk, and had been traveling for some time now, to track down these larger breeds and see just what they were up to. He didn't travel alone, his hawk Avan was with him to keep and eye out, though at the moment the hawk was off hunting so Delnar was alone.

There had been rumors of new Soquili in the lands. Those which were similar to Usdia but held a variety of different features. When these rumors had reached Ironforge and the herd they had decided it was best to go and investigate them. So instead of following the regular training routine today, Kaleidoscope instead was told by his mentor that today they would be traveling a ways to see if they could find these new Soquili and find out more about them. Kale didn't mind of course, if they gaining knowledge was just another part of his training and the overall duties of a Knight. Walking along beside the shaggy white stallion Kale tried to remain quiet and alert.
But he could only do so for so long. Eventually he had to break the silence if only to ensure they were going the right way now that they reached a fork in the path. "They said to go west correct?" Wouldn't that be a shame to go east and end up somewhere completely different. Of course their directions were given based upon accounts passed to them by one Soquili who had heard it from another and so on, so as far as they knew the directions could be wrong. Still it was worth checking it out at the very least, even if at the end of the day they went home without any knowledge of these newest arrivals.

Ironforge was beginning to wonder just how long Kale would be able to go in silence, the rainbow stallion was pretty patient and even Ironforge had to admit a good student...but he could only stay silent for so long on these types of journeys. He was younger so Ironforge supposed that could have something to do with it..and because he was feeling a bit wicked today Ironforge decided to tease the rainbow stallion when he finally did speak...just a little bit.
Kale probably wouldn't be expecting it...Ironforge was hardly the typical jokester, in fact the shaggy stallion wondered if the other beast would even know he was making a joke...or think he was being completely serious when he abruptly pulled up and gave a disdainful snort before snapping out a haughty "Are you daring to presume I might be going the wrong way?"

The one thing Delnar had not been expecting was to encounter such horribly tall grass in this meadow. It had been shorter near the trees but not it was nearly as tall as he was, and that made seeing where he was going and who was possibly around nearly impossible. This was a fine time to not have Avan with him, hopefully the hawk would be return to him shortly so as to act as his eyes. For the time being Delnar was forced to occasionally jump into the air to glimpse around him before trudging forward again. This meadow was much larger than he had first thought and now he was stuck on whether to keep moving forward or backtrack to the trees and try to find another path.
Backtracking would make him lose time and the journey had already been a long one. So he leapt into the air again, taking a quick look over the grass and adjusted his course towards the trees he could see on the other side. A bit more walking and another leap to make sure he was still on course. Luckily he was, but it was quite easy to get turned around in a situation like this.

In a way Kale was expecting Ironforge to have some comment about him breaking the silence or something else, as was quite typical from the shaggy stallion. But he didn't think he would answer like that. "Well...no." He finally said a bit hesitantly. Ironforge was generally serious at all times so his joking was a bit lost on the rainbow stallion for the moment. He looked out towards the paths and the meadow before them for a moment before turning his attention back to Ironforge. "It's not so much that I think you are going the wrong way, but just double checking is all. Didn't you once tell me to double check the information given to us...well that's what I'm doing now."
He would have said more but a bit of movement cause his eye out in the meadow. It had only been a flicker but he was certain he had seen it. Focusing on the meadow Kale watched and sure enough a short distance from where he had first seen movement there was another flash of blue. "Wait...did you see that?" He asked and motioned with his muzzle towards the meadow. After a few moments the blue popped up above the tops of the grass again before disappearing.

Ironforge was inwardly quite amused, of course he wasn't about to let Kale in on that amusement..better to let the rainbow stallion ponder on it for a while and see what he came up with on his own. Rather then agree or disagree with him Ironforge merely stamped a hoof and looked off across the meadow they were planing on crossing next.
It looked clear enough - at first glance there did not appear to be anything dangerous lurking in the grass and certainly they had yet to come across any signs of predators and the like. He noticed the flash of blue about the same time as Kale did "Something jumping?" The stallion mused out loud, scenting the air to see if that would tell him anything "I expect we should check it out...maybe we'll get lucky and not have to go as far as we thought" That or they would run across a skinwalker in wolf or cat form..which was close to the same size as the blue jumping thing was..but ah well..such was the life of being a Knight. "Come on then" He encouraged Kale starting off into the long grass "But keep your eyes out in case there are more" It wouldn't do to find themselves surrounded.

Delnar was certainly not amused at his current situation, but really he only had himself to blame. He had decided to cut across the meadow instead of looking for a path that would either lead him through or around the deep grass. And Avan was still no where in sight so he had to keep trudging forward between his jumping. The progress was slow as the grass was quick thick but at least he was making progress. Another jump and...wait he saw something that time. An explosion of colors. Delnar took a moment to consider and then jumped again. This time he saw two figures, though not very clearly, one was like a giant rainbow and the other looked white and somewhat fluffy.
There was a moment of indecision. Should he call out to them or try to stay hidden. It had looked like they were headed his way so best call attention to himself or else he may get stepped on. Launching himself into the air again Delnar looked towards the two figures. "Hello." He called out before disappearing back into the grass.

Kale gave a nod of his head. He had no doubt Ironforge would want to check it out. Better to investigate it than assume it was nothing and then suddenly be attacked by a skinwalker or something else. Kale started forward wading into the grass keeping his eyes on the blue that kept popping up but also sweeping them across the grasses. The blue might just be a distraction for another hidden within the grass. As they got closer he noticed that whoever it was didn't look to be a skinwalker in their animal form but instead resembled a Soquili, all be it a small one. Could they have been so lucky as to stumble upon so already?
Hearing the other call out Kale glanced over at Ironforge for a moment and then back towards where the voice come from. "Hello." He replied and then because he wasn't sure if Ironforge would say anything or what the shaggy stallion might if he did, Kale spoke again. "Is everything alright?" Could it even be a foal lost in the meadow, too small to see it's way through? Possible but that was no reason to rush forward until the situation was better known.

Ironforge relaxed a bit when the strange blue thing jumped up once they were close enough to make out the fact that it wasn't some sort of predator..and when it spoke that was an even better sign - those will ill intent rarely called out benign greetings of hello if they meant to do you some sort of harm.
Kale seemed to have come to the same conclusion although wisely he remained a bit back, just in case - it was good to offer assistance, was an integral part of their code to be honest..but it was also wise to be careful when doing so though Ironforge was pretty sure that whomever this creature was he didn't mean them any harm and he gave Kale an encouraging nod when he looked towards him. "Do you require any assistance?" He added to his rainbow companions statement once he'd finished speaking "Are you all alone?"

Delnar let out a snort of a laugh at the questions. Everything was certainly not alright, he was surrounded by annoyingly tall grass that he was having difficulty navigating. And he could certainly use some assistance getting through it. At least the voices had been close, and sounded friendly and helpful so that he could find these two strangers. Pushing his way through the grass for a a few more feet Delnar popped out near the legs of the two large stallions. Holy crap they were huge! "Boy I hope you two are friendly or else I am in big trouble." He said with a bit of a chuckle as he glanced up at the shaggy white stallion and then to his rainbow counterpart. "As for your questions. Well I must admit that this grass is a bit too deep for me to navigate through so maybe you two could help me get to the other side."
Delnar glanced behind him to see nothing but a wall of tall green grass gently swaying in the breeze. "I am indeed alone. Well there is my hawk out there somewhere but I think he might still be occupied with fetching his lunch." Turning his gaze back to the stallions before him Delnar smiled. Boy if all the residents of these lands were this large it would take some getting used to. "I'm Delnar. Who might you two be?"

As the blue stallion made his way through the grass and came into view Kale, and Ironforge, got their first good look at just who and what had been out there in the grasses. At first glance he looked to be about the same size as the Usdia that lived in these lands as well. But on closer inspection the small stallion had a a small horn protruding from his forehead, not much different from those seen on unicorns. However what really got Kale's attention and peeked his curiosity was the small wings that sat at the base of the stallions tail. How interesting.
Kale couldn't help but let out a laugh at the smaller stallions statement. "You are indeed in luck, we are friendly." And then he cast a look towards his mentor with a slight grin on his lips. "Well he isn't always the friendliest but nothing you need to worry about." He wasn't one ot poke fun at his mentor, but the opportunity had presented itself and Kale was hard pressed to miss it. Surely he would pay for such a thing with extra work load of training, but it was worth it. "We can get you to the trees no problem." As the smaller stallion introduced himself Kale dipped his head. "Greetings Delnar, I'm Kaleidoscope. And this is my mentor Ironforge."

Ironforge glanced down at the small creature who pushed his way through the grasses to get to them, At first he thought it was just your average Usidia whom had wandered into territory that wasn't suitable for him...but closer inspection revealed the creatures strange little horn and even odder little wings. Certainly those wings couldn't help the creature fly - they were far to small. Was he some sort of mutant? Or part of these new breeds that he and Kale had been searching for.
Giving Kale a quelling look for his statement Ironforge turned his attention back to the small stallion "One does not need to be prancing and careless to be considered friendly" He told the beast. "Come we shall take you to the trees - I am curious about what brought you into this meadow - the Usdia in the area typically avoid it due to the sight problems it gives them and the predators who lurk within...but you don't look like any Usidia I have ever seen" The shaggy stallion stated before turning about and heading back the way they had come trusting Kale to take up the rear and watch their backs. Thankfully with his bulk leading the way and crushing the grass aside the smaller stallion ought to have an easier time of negotiating the terrain.

He stood perfectly still as the other two stallions looked him over. Delnar was somewhat used to curious glances, having been in the new lands for a while now, so he let them have their look and then when the seemed satisfied with that he gave them a slight smile. "It can be hard to know sometimes, there are those who look and act friendly enough at first but then they turn on you when you least expect it." If that was the case today then Delnar would not be returning to the herd like he had planned. But now was not the time to think of such things as the shaggy stallion turned and began to lead the way. Delnar fell in behind him, extremely thankful that the larger horse was creating a pathway for him through the grasses.
"I am somewhat unaware of the danger in this area...in these lands actually. I have only recently come to live here from a land far away, along with the herd, and so we are still learning the way of things. I had decided to have a look around and honestly when I saw the meadow I didn't expect the grass to be so thick and tall the whole way through." It might have been best had he gone around but either way the journey would have taken a while due to his shorter legs. "Actually I'm not your typical Usdia, though my kind is quite similar to them. I am an Minicorn Putti cross. My horn comes from my Minicorn blood and my wings," he glanced back at them for a moment before turning to face forward again, "are of Putti blood."

Kale tried not to smile when Ironforge looked at him like that. Oh yes he would pay for it, but honestly had Ironforge not joked around with him before they had encountered this small stallion? Why it was only fair that Kale do the same thing. As Ironforge took to the front, pushing the grass aside for their small escort, Kale let his eyes sweep across the grass before falling in behind, his ears remained alert and his head continually swung about looking for danger. Just because none had made their appearance doesn't mean they weren't lurking and therefore they needed to keep their guard up.
As they walked he listened to what the smaller stallion had to say. Well it looks like they had been fortunate enough to run into one of these rumored new breeds without too much effort. Of course there were several questions he wanted to ask, but at the same time didn't want to overwhelm the smaller stallion with them. He decided to ask one or two to start and see what Ironforge would add as well. "These lands can be quite dangerous if you do not know where the predators are or what the look like. Has your herd been here for very long?" The rumors of the new breeds had only recently reached them, but that doesn't mean they couldn't have been around for a while. "Did you old lands have many predators?"

As they made their way through the grass Ironforge kept one ear titled forward - less something have come up on them while they were in the meadow..and one tilted back so that he might hear the conversation happening behind him. Mentally he filed away the facts Dalanar had given them so far, minicorn would not be so very hard to remember given that he did look much like a miniature unicorn but Putti was a bit of an odd word, miniwind might have been a bit easier..but then winds did not carry their wings in the same position either.
Having reached the woods once more Ironforge moved aside so that they could all come out of the grass and stand in the far more comfortable shade of the forest. "Those wings do not look as though they could help one fly..are they merely so small because you are a crossbreed?" Ironforge asked once Kale had grown silent. Such a question might offend some but given that the soquili asking them was hardly of typical type himself Ironforge hoped that the small stallion would not take offense as none had been ment. He merely wished to learn what he could of these new breeds.
