Yareha yawned and squinted against the setting sun. Given the choice, he'd much prefer to sleep in until it was at least mostly dark, but he couln't afford to do that today. Today he fully intended to begin his hunt for a male to catch Aysu's interest.

Not that he actually expected to succeed. But his success wasn't what the lion was hoping for, not at all...

The thought trailed off, forgotten, as the white lion spotted a potential suitor. He didn't know the other lion well, but he didn't look too old. Yareha trotted up to the blue-maned male.

"Looks like it's going to be a lovely night," he commented idly. "I don't suppose you have a pretty lioness to spend it with?" Oh yeah, Yareha was being reeeeeeeal subtle. But, hey. He needed to know that bit right away...right?

Andama blinked a little taken aback by being approached by another lion in such a blunt manner. Generally when someone of a higher rank was going to approach him they were asking for something, or wanted to chat. But, that introduction was a little forward, wasn't it?

"Nu-no?" the blue maned lion answered, "I was just going to go back and see if my grandparents needed anything." It was an odd thing to be doing, but he felt very close to his grandmother.

He was so shocked at the subtlety the white lion used, he gaped watching the other lion.

Yareha grinned at the other lion. Gape-mouthed wasn't a reaction he usually got, but hey, it was a good one, right? At the very least he'd have to remember the look on the other male's face for blackmail in the future. Good blackmail, not anything that'd really hurt anyone. The white lion just wasn't that kind of guy.

"A handsome guy like you would spend a night like this helping his grandparents? You really are something special," the Hunter continued cheerfully. That sounded fairly promising already! Hopefully the idea of the other helping was his own, not his grandparents. Yareha didn't mind slaves at all and knew full well they were people too, but he was aware that some people liked to take advantage of their unblessed status.

"You know, there's lots of lionesses in this pride who'd love a guy that cares for his family so much," Yareha pointed out with a wink. Yeah, Mister Subtle had officially left the building. And this was with the white lion actually trying to not drop the whole idea at once on the other lion.

Andy was bewildered to say the least, was this lion hitting on him, or was he trying to find him a date? Either way the slave wasn't sure what do, so logically he decided to play along. Whatever it was the other lion wanted to have a conversation.

"Th-thanks? Oh, well, I'm more of a family lion I guess." he smirked, "Why aren't you spending this night with a lioness?" Turning the query around.

"I haven't really been looking for a lioness, I'm sure Grandma Nerit would love some more children running around. My Uncle Aoede would practically die if he knew I'd found a lady before him." Those names probably meant very little to Yareha, maybe Nerit's would ring a bell, there weren't many in the pride that didn't know the story of the old king stepping down. But he was a family lion, and they were who he spent all of his time.

Feeling comfortable around the other lion he sat, creepy-factor aside, it was nice to talk to others. "I'm Andama, and you?" It wasn't a large pride, but it was possible to miss another's name. There were markings on him that could identify what family he was from.

Yareha laughed out loud as the other male neatly turned his questioning around. "I can't take the time to find a lioness for myself yet, not until I find a nice fellow for my sister, Aysu!" It was a daydream that he entertained every now and then, but really, he just didn't see taking the time to devote himself to a lioness at this point in his life. He did want to, however. Eventually.

"Perhaps you should be looking," Yareha suggested. "You know that the good ones don't stay single forever, and if you put it off too long, there'll be no one left." Talk about the pot calling the kettle black, but the white lion wasn't particularly skilled at taking his own advice.

"Oh!" he exclaimed as Andama introduced himself. It had completely escaped his mind that it was normal for a person to give their name before dropping a proposition of some sort in front of another. "Sorry about that, my name's Yareha Afaer, but please, just call me Yareha," he answered, smiling.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Yareha," he wrinkled his brow, "I think." So he was trying to find a lion for his sister, that would explain the slightly creepy introduction.

"Does your sister know that you're so dedicated to finding her a fellow?" The blue maned lion laughed. Was there something wrong with Yareha's sister that Aysu couldn't find her own friend?

"I know it might seem odd, given who my grandparents are, but..I don't see many ladies looking for slaves; wouldn't a lioness want a fellow who's watched out for by The Great Lion?"

Um, not the most enthusiastic reaction he'd ever gotten. But Andama seemed like a nice guy, so he'd let it slide. Maybe the other male just needed time to get warmed up to a person.

Blue eyes shifted from side to side as the yellow and purple lion asked if Aysu knew. "Not...yet," Yareha replied at last. "I'm, um, trying to surprise her." Yeah, that was it. And if Andama took that at face value, the white lion had some great property to sell him at the bottom of the ocean!

He had to snort though at the other lion's class-based worries. "Firstly, we're low class ourselves, so it's not extreme like your grandparents," he explained. Besides, to Yareha, what was the point in worrying about ranks? He wasn't a slave, but in the eyes of certain high ranking lions, he wasn't much better than one either. "Secondly," he continued, "it's our ranks that change, not our mates." Which actually made it perfectly logical for Andama to be looking at a lioness of higher rank than he - if you allowed class-based prejudice to influence your thinking.

"Lastly, what does any of it matter if you and the girl truly love each other?" That was what Yareha wanted when he did find a mate - someone who loved him regardless of what rank or class or anything else like that. Shouldn't everyone else want the same?

"That seems a little strange," Andama admitted, "But it shows that you really care for your sister that you're looking for the perfect lion for her. Shows a lot of character."

"You're starting to sound a little like Grandma Nerit," Andy quipped thinking about the 'what does it matter if you love each other.' but it was different, he liked being a slave. It wasn't bad, he gave all of himself for protection, the pride kept their eye on him and made sure he was safe while The Great Lion didn't. He wasn't shaken in his faith knowing that he wasn't being watched over. "I'm not consumed by rank, but it certainly helps to keep those things in mind when choosing a mate."

"What's your sister like?" He caved a little, "I'd meet her, but only if it wasn't a real surprise..surprise, maybe you could tell her about me?"

"Er...yeah. I mean, she drives me crazy but I love her," Yareha admitted, momentarily stunned by the fact that he actually had said that out loud. Andama seemed to have loosened his tongue more than he preferred.

The white lion chose to take it as a compliment when the other lion compared him to Nerit. After all, Nerit had had the wisdom to see past the veils of rank and go with what her heart said. "I suppose it doesn't hurt," he acknowledged at last.

Yareha gratefully grabbed onto the change of subject. "Aysu's really outgoing. She talks a lot, but she also talks to a lot of people and likes to know everything that's going on in the pride," he explained. "She can get really nosy if you're not prepared to keep her out of your private life, but she means well." He considered the other male's request. "I suppose I could do that...kind of a friend of a sibling thing?"

Andy laughed, he had a sister that also drove him a little crazy, but he loved her with his whole heart. Their mother wasn't awful to get along with, she was just a bit different...well egotistical and self centered, Indu was completely focused on ranks and that her children were born slaves.

"I like lions who talk a lot," he nodded, "Seems like that runs in your family." He felt a bit more bold, the conversation had started out not so subtle, so Andy assumed he was in safe-paws and by talking out so he would be fine.

"I see a lot of things in the pride, maybe she'd like to hear what I have to say?" What in the world was he doing, allowing himself to be set up on a blind date? "Yareha, I wouldn't mind meeting your sister."

Yareha had the grace to flush as Andama pointed out that he, like Aysu, could talk a lot. He didn't always, but sometimes a switch inside got flipped and the words came pouring out. He hoped he hadn't been too obnoxious and was relieved by the other male's next words.

"I'm sure she'd be thrilled to hear someone else's observations," the white lion declared with a smile. "I'd be happy to set something up for you two!" He paused, then added "I hope you don't mind if I'm not there when you both meet, I really don't want her to know I'm doing this." Mostly because he had a feeling she'd be severely annoyed (and amused) if it worked out, and ready to flay him alive if it didn't.

"How does two nights from now sound, at the two rocks near the watering hole?" he continued, racking his brain for a way to convince Aysu to go.

Andy thought about it, would it be strange to be "set up" with a lioness by her brother and he's not even there when the meeting occurs? Yes, but it would probably be stranger if her brother was there.

"That sounds fine to me, I can remember," he nodded, "Two nights from now, by the two rocks." He'd been basically groomed to have a good memory for errands, so a few days off wouldn't be very hard to find.

He was worried she wouldn't like him, and then worried again that he even cared.

"Wonderful!" Yareha was absolutely THRILLED with how his plan was working out. And it helped that Andama was a genuinely nice guy that he wouldn't object to seeing his sister - any of his sisters! - with.

"Then I'll see to it that Aysu shows up on time," he assured the other male. "Thank you very much! I owe you one, and don't be afraid to cash in!" He was afraid that as a slave, the blue-maned lion would be too afraid. Hopefully not though. Maybe, just maybe, they could end up as friends after all of this was said and done...
