Braxis is a large, unassuming world among many, but it is by far the most well known. Situated about a half-days sublight flight from Garanth, it is the main Academy for the Imperial Army, training troops on the surface, and officers at the advanced school on the small moon that orbits it. The planet is literally one giant training ground, with troops training in every climate type the planet offers, which is many. Fully a quarter of the planet alone is covered by the barracks, mess halls, and various other support buildings.
The officer school is quite small and unassuming, situated in a crater on the moon, which was never given a name. It trains the best and brightest young officers for various roles on the military.
The planet is defend by many small, automated defense guns, built into asteroids brought by construction crews, fitted with generators to keep them in orbit, with the tough rock and metal composition of the asteroids giving them vastly superior protection then any ship armor could. They are typically very heavy weapons, with missiles, railguns and turbo plasma cannons the main weapons of choice, with two of any one type per asteroid, ringing the entire planet in an artificially built ring of defenses. Cadets on punishment detail are sent up to repair and maintain them.
