Sebastian had gotten permission from the landlord to stick his telescope on the flat roof of the apartment building. The man had seemed somewhat bemused and baffled by the request, but there was now a fairly decent telescope installed up there, nestled among air conditioning units and who knew what else. He could often be found up there on clear, cloudless nights, picking out constellations and stars like the old friends they were.

It was another one of those beautifully clear nights tonight, and Sebastian had been out for a couple of hours already. There was nothing spectacular going on tonight, like a comet, but that certainly hadn't kept him indoors.

There were assorted noises that came from being on the roof in the middle of summer, such as the rumbling of an air conditioner, and at first the brunette had thought the low hiss was simply something that had needed repair. He'd made a mental note to speak to the landlord about it (that having been part of the deal about the telescope) and promptly ignored it. However, when it sounded as though it had moved, he cast another glance around the area behind him and finally spotted what was making the noise: something larger than a dog, but unmistakably feline.

It stalked out from the shadows and Sebastian shuddered a bit at it's utterly unnatural appearance. This was clearly one of those monsters now stalking the streets of Destiny City and he had no idea how to deal with it. "Uhhhh, good kitty?" he tried, sounding entirely too nervous. Those teeth looked wickedly sharp and unfriendly. He looked around again, but the monster had blocked the escape route.

This was not going to end well.

Themis had been coming home from his patrol, and had landed on the roof unaware of Sebastian's presence on his usual landing spot.

Keeping in mind that there was at least three senshi in the building that he knew of, this had been bound to happen the day he'd put up the telescope there, through it had to be recent - he didn't remember that being there a few days ago...

...Didn't that guy live in the building ? Uh, he seemed familiar...

He'd been about to attempt to MIB his way out of this situation and jump off when the youma came out.

Well.

Handy that he was there, after all.

"Stand back, I've got this !" Trying to look as... heroic as possible, he charged the youma.

Although this sort of thing was probably going to happen sooner or later, Sebastian at least had no idea about the extracurricular activities of the other people living in the apartment building.

So when Themis showed up, grey eyes went wide with surprise. It was a change from the terror he'd been displaying only moments before, however. "Uh, sure," he replied, blinking and shaking his head slightly. This was turning downright surreal.

The catlike youma snarled once more at Sebastian before focusing on the real threat. As soon as the senshi started towards it, it leapt into the air, claws extended and aimed directly for Themis' face.

Good, the youma was focusing on him. That was always good.

Damn, he hated fighting with civilians around... !!! It was always a risk. A risk that Themis hated to have to take. But if he sent the brown-haired boy back down... The youma was likely to pursue the sudden movement,

Themis dodged to the side, turning to punch the youma. He... actually had no idea what effect his powers had on civilians, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to figure it out.

Not while on top of a multiple story apartment building.

The youma was not a particularly strong one, and Themis' punch sent the creature flying, where it then crumpled into one of the brick protrusions that stuck up seemingly randomly from the complex's roof. There was a loud cracking sound and in the echoing silence afterwards, the youma let out one last angry, defiant, hiss before falling into dust.

Sebastian let out an explosive breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. "What just happened?" he demanded after a moment, grey eyes narrowed in suspicion at the person who had, admittedly, saved his life. That thought penetrated his brain a moment behind the question, causing him to blush a little bit. Manners? What manners.

"And, uh, thanks." He paused, actually taking in Themis' appearance. "What's with the asswings?"

...Well, that was easier than Themis had thought it would be. The youma went down easily, and from there on, went up in dust.

All the better, really, before the civilian could have inadvertently gotten in trouble. Or had decided to get a sudden case of bravery. The latter were the worst.

"It's no problem." He was just about to hightail it when Sebastian spoke again. "That was a monster. You know, the ones they talk about in the news ? Yeah. That."

The last question, through. "Dress code." Totally ridiculous, magical dress code. Yeah, that would do. "Totally ridiculous dress code. I assure you im not wearing a giant target on my a** just because I feel like it."

Sebastian had been too surprised at first to really make any kind of observations, but now that the threat was removed and his adrenalin levels were heading back down to normal, his inner scientist was struggling to the fore. "You seem to know a lot about them," he said, almost accusingly.

"Terrorists have a dress code?" That apparently included wings. Angel wings. Definitely some conflicting symbols there. "You're not making a lot of sense."

...Excuse him ?

"If killing those damn things count as knowing a lot about them, then yeah." He shrugged. Usually civilians were content with being in one piece and at least went on their merry ways without calling the cops. Themis liked this relationship. He wasn't bulletproof.

Of course he'd say he was a damn terrorist. "Look, it's not important, okay ? Monster's dead. You might wanna go inside, through. They're most often out at night."

He couldn't just hop down on his balcony from here, through Themis was already trying to plot out an escape plan. Preferably before cops were called.

Sebastian flushed a bit at the response. Open foot, insert mouth. "Look, I'm not ungrateful," he said, running a hand through his hair. "I just..." He sighed. "I want to know what's going on, that's all." Too many people he knew had been injured recently by this sort of monster attack.

At the request to go back inside, he rolled his eyes and jabbed a thumb in the direction of his telescope. "Tonight's the first time I've been able to use that in a week. No way I'm going back inside."

Themis would actually like to know what was going on himself, most of these days. Honestly. "Im not sure if this s**t can even be summed up into some kind of explanation that might make sense."

Being a senshi involved a whole lot of suspension of disbelief.

"I guess the short and sweet version would be..." He did a backflip, ending up on top of one of the air conditioned unit with an ease that looked almost impossible. "These monsters are out for the energy and souls of humans, and a senshi's job is to kill them before they do."

He didn't even want to get into trying to explain starseeds, seriously.

And well, it looked like his night wasn't over. If Sebastian was adamant on staying outside like some sort of tasty youma lure, Themis couldn't in good conscience leave him alone. He'd be even easier picking for a negaverse agent, seriously.

"There are two groups, the senshi and the negaverse. Im a senshi. The negaverse are those sending those monsters." He didn't expect the brown-haired boy to believe much of what he was saying, but that was the short and sweet version.

"So, you live in here ?" He pointed down at the apartment building.

Sebastian made a small 'go ahead' gesture while Themis was wondering if the current events in Destiny City could be summed up. He was patient, and willing to wait while his rescuer attempted to marshal his thoughts.

The ease with which Themis did a backflip caused the brunette's jaw to drop a little. That...wasn't normal. Not that anything tonight had been, but for some reason, it was the impossible acrobatics that pushed it straight over into unreality. "So, that monster was sent from the Negaverse. Like, directly sent to find me," a thought that was distinctly terrifying, "Or was it just wandering around more or less aimlessly?" He paused. "Wait, they get monsters and you get...what, exactly? The ability to punch really hard?" This seemed unfair to Sebastian, for some reason. It was pretty clear, though, that he sympathized with the senshi. Probably because of that monster thing.

He eyed Themis and shook his head lightly. "Yeah, I live here. Top floor, which is easier access to the roof."

"Not especially for you, I don't think." Youma, from his experience, lacked this kind of... intelligence. "They're just set out on the city to gather whatever they can.... as far as I know, anyway. You just happened to be right where this one happened to be."

"We get magic, kind of. It's hard to explain, really." Another thing he wasn't certain he wanted to explain - talking cats. "And punch them really hard, yeah."

Sebastian frowned. "That's a little less reassuring than I thought it would be," he confessed. On the one hand, they weren't targeting him. On the other, it just reinforced the idea that everyone in Destiny City was at risk.

"Magic?" he continued skeptically. "Still doesn't seem like a fair trade off." He rubbed his arms then, goosebumps prickling on his skin. "I think I'm going to head back inside, it's getting a little cold."

"It was, uh, nice to meet you. And thanks again."
PostPosted: Sun Oct 02, 2011 5:50 pm

Yeah, he didn't look like he was buying it at all, but Themis couldn't really blame him. Through he couldn't help but be a little reassured when he finally headed back inside - really, it was the safest place at night.

Hopefully Sebastian had learned his lesson.

"No problem." And then Themis was gone, running off to jump on the the roof of the next building. He couldn't very well just head down after him, after all.

He'd just do a quick block run before sliding in his apartment through his balcony.
