Another fascinating day out on the bench, watching other students mosey on about their business. Riyo's crimson eyes scanned the area as she attempted to make herself comfortable, though this time she did so on a bench away from any trees or things that... Certain people could hide in. Hopefully nobody would (literally) get the drop on her this time.
If they did, the feline had brought a distraction with her. Some papers that needed to be filled out, along with a book to read just in case, all tucked neatly in her plain, yet fashionable black satchel. Yes, this time she was prepared for whomever decided to try and make small talk with her. Maybe today would be the day that she beat her record in how long she could stand to be around somebody. The sky was the limit, she supposed.
Sighing, the feline picked up the heavier than usual satchel from the ground to place it on her lap. "What the..." That was much heavier than usual. What was?
Riyo didn't even have to open it. out of the main pocket popped out a familiar nergal hazcat head, green lenses staring up at her.
"For Jack's sake Felix..." And the cat demon had thought she'd managed to sneak out without the furball in tow..
Oh well. Sometimes he served as a fine distraction for her escape. "Now what knucklehead will bother me today?" She asked the hazcat softly, patting him on the head before pulling out her book.

Eracs was excited. Okay so excited didn't even start to cover it. Only twice before did he ever get to leave the shed. Once he got to go on a field trip! Oh how exciting that was and he got to meet so many other students. Not that long ago either did he leave the shed again, for part of some festival that school had been holding. Both times he had to return.
Not this time. He finally got accepted there. After all his time of trying, he was going to go to school! The boil had been dreaming of this day for all of his life. Think of all the things he'd get to see and all the other students he'd get to meet. He also got his own room. That thought in itself was exciting. Now he didn't have to live with the horrors of the shed. To him, having lived there all his time, it wasn't too terrible but the few times he'd talked to students he had heard horror stories of it.
The boil gripped the small box of items too his thin frame. The tall and lanky scarecrow was now making his way across a lawn the would eventually lead to the the dorms. Had he mentioned the fact he was excited to have his own place?
He then heard a noise and stopped. A concerned look came over his burlap face and he looked up to the sky. Oh Jack, he thought there was a bird following him but was glad there wasn't. Looking forward he realized there was someone sitting on a bench. There was another student!
Eracs closed the distance between him and the one sitting on the bench. "Hello! Are you a student here too?" He grinned. "I'm Eracs, I just got accepted here myself! No more shed for me!" He was excited about that still and would be for some time.

What the.... What was that?
Oh Jack, and it was heading her way. Just Riyo's luck. She had to wonder how many salt shakers she'd knocked over to end up with such an 'eventful' first few weeks at Amityville.
As she was approached by what she now assumed was a scarecrow, her eyebrows raised to her hairline.
"... You're very forward, aren't you?" Was the first, and only thing she could think to say. "... Uh. Isn't there a field of candy corn you should be watching?" Oh, that was probably considered rude. "Disregard that question." As if he would. "Yes, I'm a student. My name is Riyo..." He had introduced himself, it was only fair. "And... What about a shed?" Her tail swayed slowly behind her as she observed this... Oddly enthused student.
It appeared her hazcat wasn't sure what to make of the new blood-Er, hay either. Promptly hopping off her lap, Felix trotted up to Eracs and gave the boil a good sniff, wondering whether to label this friend or foe.

He hadn't realized until he was closer but the other student had a tail, a tail! Well and ears too, well most other's had ears but Riyo had different ears.
Eracs grinned. Forward, he wasn't very sure what that was at all so he only continued to grin. "Candy corn field? Oh no, there aren't any of those around the school at all." He didn't understand much what 'disregard' meant at all, hence the answering the question. "It's wonderful to meet you then Riyo!" What a nice student, he wondered if they all were like this.
"Oh, I lived in the shed on campus, Breck's. I guess students like to try getting into it from what I heard, can't imagine why." Again, he grinned. Obviously growing up in the horrors of the shed meant nothing phased him at all.
The scarecrow looked down at the hazcat. "Oh! What is this creature." He attempted to pet the hazcat.

Riyo couldn't help but feel a little intimidated and stupefied at this boil's happy-go-lucky nature. It was as if every word out of her mouth was some gourmet candy to the scarecrow's ears... When they were intended to be cyanide.
"... Wonderful to meet me?" She certainly hadn't heard that one before. "Breck's shed?" But she had heard of that. The feline remembered Jericho pointing it out to her the first week she was on campus, and saying how dangerous it was. If this guy was any example of the 'dangerous' stuff, Riyo was fairly certain no student was in immediate danger... Unless they didn't like being smiled to death.
"Um... He's a hazcat." Had this guy lived under a ro- Wait, no. Shed. Right. "Of the nergal variety." She went on to explain. Though, she imagined if he didn't know what Felix was, he wouldn't understand what nergal meant either. "His name is Felix." Better throw that out there too.
"Uh... So..." This was kind of awkward. Riyo had never had the 'privilege' of talking to someone so... Overwhelmingly happy. It was almost suffocating. "Any reason why you decided to attend school instead of taking up space in a shed?"
Friend. Definitely friend. Anybody who offered a gentle hand was fine in the hazcat's book. Almost immediately, Felix sat and held his head up high, fully prepared to receive attention.

It was difficult for him to see the bad side in any type of situation. Or other student really. Growing up in a confined space by yourself, more or less, would do that too you. He did not know better. Nor did he know scary from not scary. It was too bad he turned out the way he did, Eracs wanted to be scary like the rest of the shed but he couldn't. That did allow him to enroll at school though.
He nodded. It was always wonderful to meet anyone. The boil had little friends so he enjoyed any chance at meeting someone new. "Hazcat? Oh!" He had seen various creatures before of this 'cat' type so, yes it did look to be related. He wasn't too sure of what nergal was but maybe it's coloring or something else to do with it. He'd find that out later. Eracs looked at Felix. "It's nice too meet you too Felix!" New friend count, now at two.
Reason to come to school besides leaving the shed? "I have been finding living in the shed boring. I'm sadly not scary enough for the shed or tending crops." He looked a bit sad at this. "But! I wanted to learn about things and make new friends really. What other reason besides that?"
The boil pet the hazcat again. "What about you?" He grinned.

Felix seemed doubly pleased with Eracs's greeting, letting out a muffled mew as he soaked up the attention like a sponge.
"Ah. So... You just came here for fun." Riyo's eyebrow raised to her hairline at the idea. Making friends. Fun. Haha.
"I've come to broaden my horizons and learn to be more social. Not because I want to. It's something required of me." Not that she cared to elaborate very much on that point. "Which is why I sit out on this bench and wait for some sucker to try and strike up a conversation with me. So I can perhaps learn to stand small talk a little longer each day."
... At least she was honest about that.

Eracs pet Felix again. The creature was just adorable and he made a mental note to ask where to get one of the wonderful creatures. It was just so cute and happy. He nodded at Riyo. "Yep! Well I don't have anything else to do and learning just sounds like fun." The boil enjoyed fun.
Probably why he was a failure at being a scary scarecrow. "Just like me!" He said at the mention of a sucker to talk to the ghoul. The meaning of the word passed right over him, having never heard the word before this day. "I enjoy talking, if you ever wanted to talk more."
Maybe Riyo wanted to talk even more. "Oh! I did go on this exciting field trip before I joined the school. Have you heard of those trip things?"

Well, Riyo did agree that learning was fun. As long as she could do it by herself...
"Yes. A sucker just like you." Dear sweet Sally, this guy was dense. Should she retreat now? Should she try to stay? Maybe if she started walking to her dorm, he'd get the idea and buzz off. Quietly, the feline stood to her feet and started to move towards the demon dorms.
"Mm. Field trips. I've never been on one." For obvious reasons, considering she'd only been at school for a few weeks. "But yes. I've heard of them.... Where did you go to?" She asked and glanced back, wondering if he would follow.
As Riyo started to walk away, the hazcat immediately jumped to his feet and ran after his owner. The petting was nice, but getting left behind was not an option.

Eracs just nodded and grinned. Even if he did get a slight hint at the word's meaning he didn't really care that much. Then she started off with out him. What to do? He would have just let her go on her way but well she was still talking to him. Eracs started to follow only because Riyo asked a question and he just had to answer. Perhaps he'd leave after that.
The hazcat had left him too but he quickly caught up to answer the field trip question. "Oh it was wonderful! We went to that Christmas Town place. It was all full of that white stuff and there was a train ride and trees and just a lot of stuff." Eracs might have just hit the record for saying 'and' the most times in one sentence. "I hope to go on another the next time they have a trip."

... Christmas town?
Riyo raised an eyebrow and glanced back at the mention of that, slightly curious to what the hell they had been doing in a place like that, not that she really knew much about it... But it seemed strange for people that weren't even students to take such a trip.
"White stuff? What do you mean?" Her brow furrowed in confusion as her pace slowed slightly. "How often does Amityville compose these field trips? Moreover, what's the point? Sounds like you did nothing but take in the scenery."

He nodded excitedly. That place had been wonderful! He brought his hands in front of him and wiggled his fingers as he lowered his hands. "Oh, it was um, uh, snow? I think that's what they called it. They said it was cold but I didn't notice it." Hard to notice the cold when you have no flesh. "I'm not sure of that, I thought I heard they had just taken another though, I have no idea where they went on that one."
Eracs shook his head back and forth quickly. "The scenery was wonderful but.." Of course he'd notice it though. "It was quite scary at times. Those train things crashed! And the trees were attacking us, so were a bunch of strange little men and there was a fire." As well as scary bird students but he didn't need to go into that.

Riyo's brows furrowed at Eracs's recollection of events from the field trip he had attended. "Trains crashing? Attacking trees? ... Little men?" She repeated, mulling over those thoughts in her head. "You mean gnomes?" He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed (ironically), so maybe he didn't realize what they were called.
"Though, the snow does sound intriguing. I would like to see that for myself." Since the cold they were used to really didn't bother her at all, with all the layers she shrouded herself in. "I wonder what is required to get into this 'Christmas Town'." Not like she actually took vacations, though. Eh. Maybe the school would have another field trip.
Ah, look at that. The dorms were just a hop, skip, and a jump now. "Well, um-" What was his name again? E... Er... Oh yeah. "Eracs, looks like it's about time for me to head back to my room. Good luck with... Learning." It appeared he might need it.

Gnomes? Gnomes. Gnomes! "Yes, gnomes, I think that's what I heard them called. They were quite mean." Which wasn't very nice. He'd personally loved the snow and would have loved to bring some back. "The snow they said was cold, I don't feel cold so I couldn't tell, I tried to bring some but it melted..."
Eracs thought about Christmas Town for another moment. All he knew was it was a field trip. "Trains? They never told us anything more but it was, uh, about a day's travel." At least he could tell him, right?
Look at that! They seemed to be near the dorms now. How convientent! "It was lovely to meet you Riyo. I have to finish moving my stuff, the shed gets scary after dark..." He almost seemed to shudder at that. "Maybe I'll see you in a class!" Eracs waved as they parted. What a nice ghoul!
