Market of the Sea: Twin Blade's Market

User Image

Just off the decks of a pirate's mighty ship there is a vast market surrounded by trees and greenery of the sorts that stretches halfway inland.Within the market a man can find a wide variety of supplies needed for his journey including food, liquor, and weaponry.A known fact from the name Twin Blade is that the local blacksmiths of South Port never make duplicates of the same sword, and thus gives any buyer a unique weapon of their own, almost like a signia.Even though a buyer may find two of the same swords there will always be something different of the two.So come join the crowd of merchants and blacksmiths of the sorts of South Port and maybe you'll find something that catches your eye!

"I already feel quite welcome, Captain, but if you insist." Fable said, still wanting to walk anyway. Fable waited for Captain Mira to fallow, and both left and began their walk around South Port. Fable had no clue were they were going, but eventually the drunkards wandering the streets were replaced by busy merchants, and Fable realized they had wondered into the Twin Blade's Market. If anything was enough to make Fable as giddy as a little girl, the thought of fresh sake was enough. As they walked, Fable kept his eyes out for sake barrels in the market stalls.

Despite being well away from the bars, their were still a supply of drunks roaming the market; they must of been kicked out of the bars. Fable nodded a smiled as they stumbled past them. "Your South Port is a lot different the then Nanban Trading ports we had back in Japan. A lot more... disrespectful... Fable said as he watched a drunkard fall into the arms of an alarmed and disgusted trader. "Have you ever been to Japan, captain?

User ImageCaptain Mira Nightingale

If it wasn't for my patience..

Content that he accepted her offer they headed out of the Shark's Tail Bar and into the streets of South Port.Making sure he was always beside her she kept small conversation with him about the simple things in life like the salty air and the blue skies. After a few minutes of wondering they had come across Twin Blade's market with all it's galore. The drunks walking made way but when one stumbled into her those piercing eyes stared down at the slightly shorter man as with a swift movement had reached out and grabbed him to hold him upright. It only happened in a brief moment so even Fable wouldn't have been able to react."I hope you intend on be careful who you stumble into next time drunkard, cause if you weren't catching me in a good mood I could've killed you for being a disgrace.Move along." she stated as a pure threat, the usual of coarse, and let the man scramble away to only forget about the incident minutes later with more liquor.

After the awkward aquaintance had vanished Mira turned her gaze to her comrade after he stated his question."I have but only few memories there due to business negotiations.Other than that I have not had the time to get aquainted with the people. It's not often a Jap is introduced to a woman of russian decent.Especially one who's taller than they are." Mira joked taking him towards the father end of the market to find the man she intended to show Fable for the finest sake around South Port.

I would have killed you right now..

Before Fable could speak, he detected the familar sent of sake drifting through the marketplace. He almost began to tremble from exitement, for his supply of good sake had run out while aboard The Cursed Star. The only thing keeping Fable from breaking out into a run was that it would be disrespectful to the Captain, and if he wanted any officer's position, it would be best to keep on her good list. To his approval, Captain Mira seemed to be leading him towards the scent's source anyway.

"Well Captain, if you ever want any ideas on where to sail too, Japan is by far your best choice." Fable said, his mind started to wonder about his many memories terrorizing the waterways. The images of burning boats, the roar of two ships smashing into eachother, the screams as he lept onto the Hojo Warship, watching his captain cut his own guts out after losing a battle. The images rushed out of Fable's mind when he bumped into a merchant, who didn't make eye contact and rushed away. "The trade ships are always loaded, and it is the most amazing place you will ever see. It's beautiful."

Arella ran to catch up with her crew, of course she would lose them. It wasn't her fault though! She looked like a child, she was so short, that no one ever let's her in bars. Not that she's really old enough to drink anyway. She waved to Fable, but they werent paying any attention to her. She slowed down and took a deep breath hoping she looked calm, not that she ever really was, and smiled as she finally caught up to them,"Sorry about not showing up! Lost sight of you." She smelled the sake and knew Fable was thirsty.

(I'm sorry I showed up late!)

Fable looked back, seeing an approaching girl. For a moment, Fable thought that it was a small child, running up to ask a thousand questions about being a pirate. However, Fable found himself relived to see it was Arella, another member of The Cursed Star. During the voyage here, the two had hardly spoke at all, only sharing a few words, and Fable only telling her to get back on task minimal times.

A small sigh left Fable's mouth, he had hoped to have his own time with the captain, maybe set himself up for a promotion. To be a normal crew member felt somewhat degrading to him, especially when none of the vital roles were filled anyway. Fable knew that if he wanted first mate, he'd have to work hard to get in Captain Mira's good books, and anyone else being here wasn't going to help him much. Despite this, it was Fable's custom to show kindness and respect to all who have never wronged him, so he bowed to Arella anyway.
"Hello Arella, we were just walking. You didn't have to worry yourself at all." Fable said, doing his best to hide the aggravation in his voice, and still wore his giant smile.

Arella smiled a fake smile back, he was hiding something. Aggravation? Why? She bit back her laughter as she thought of the possibility he wanted alone time with the captain, she was pretty. Arella grimaced, Captain Mira was tall too. Of curse he was somewhat frustrated that she had intervened in some alone time with the beautiful woman. Captain Mira was one of the reasons Arella joined this crew, she admired Captain Mira.

She smiled at the captain, she didn't care much for ranks, but she did care about having good connections with those ranked higher than her. Which was the very reason she needed to keep up with them. She smiled, "I know, just didn't want to get lost is all." She smiled quickly, already knowing how childish she sounded.

Fable straightened himself up, the fake smile still wide across his face. He towered over his childish-looking crew member, making her look even smaller to him then most others see. The reason on why Captain Mira would let such a small join The Cursed Star was beyond Fable's deepest of thoughts, other then causing the opposition to laugh themselves to death. However, Fable could recognize how adorable to child looked in her battle-ready pirate clothes, looking like a toddler playing pretend. The smile on Fable's face changed to a brighter, real one, with more warmth and kindness behind it. Laughing softly, Fable patted the girl softy on the head. "Aye, then stick with us. Maybe you would like some sake too, if it takes more then the scent to get you drunk."

Arella's fake smile quickly turned to a glare, slapping his hand away from her, and took a step back, she hated tall people, especially tall, condescending men. She would prove her worth, she would prove she wasn't a kid! She was an adult, and she had been a pirate for a while now, of course tall people wouldn't know anything about having to prove themselves to the rest of the world. She wanted to scream and threaten with her dagger, but hesitated. She couldn't let them know how unstable she could be. She would never get anywhere on the ship but mopping the decks. That wouldn't be so bad, I'd get to smell the sea air. She thought before quickly changing her mind, she wanted, needed, more than mopping duties. She grinned her dare devil grin, "It takes more than a scent to get me drunk, a lot more. Don't underestimate me, Fable." She forced herself to laugh the way fable had laughed, happily.

"Hey, I said if for a reason, you know." Fable said, tempted to poke at the temper of this tiny pirate a little more. For a moment, he thought about it a little, about whether or not it would be a good idea to mess with his crew mates, but he really didn't care. It would help train up her resistance to insults anyway.

"Don't get too down about being small, little one." Fable said, his usual smile growing wider. "When I was your age, I was about the same height." Then Fable brought up his flask and took a sip of cheap sake from inside, but still kept his smile. Then he finally finished. "Your seven, right?"

"I'm 19." She responded, forcing the anger out of her voice. She did not like this man, he thought he was so clever, he was so smart, well she would teach him a lesson. she reached for her sword, but hesitated. The captain was still here, although she seemed to be in another world, she was still here nonetheless. She, instead, decided to mock Fable, attempting to relax the hand on her sword, but something about his stance just ticked her off. She started to laugh, as if what he said was so funny that she just couldn't contain herself. She threw her hands up in the air,"Am I seven? That's a good one! Was that a short joke? That was great!" She aimed her hands for his flask and knocked it out of his hands. It was empty, she was disappointed not to be able to watch his sake spill into the streets. She stopped laughing and looked up to Fable with a straight face,"Sorry, that was so funny, I just couldn't help myself."

Fable grinned, now realizing this was a battle of who could keep their temper down the longest, a battle Fable was well equipped to fight. "Aye, it was a short joke, small one." Fable said as he leaned down to pick up his empty steel flask, disappointed with how light it felt, knowing all the sake was gone. When he began raising himself back up, he stopped when he was at about at Arella's height level, realizing he could use this to stab another insult back at her.

"Amazing, you truly are a cursed soul." Fable said, still staying on her height level. It appeared like he was doubled over, and a few onlookers stopped to see if he was hunching over in pain. "From this level, it must be nearly impossible to see over the ships rails, or taste the salt of the see." Fable then rose to his full height, menacingly looking down at Arella. "Or attract a husband over ten years old."

Arella was speechless, that of all things she did not expect. As he stared into her face, as she smelled the sake on his breath and heard his menacing words, she knew, their battle had begun. She took a deep breath, How could he even bring up the fact of marriage to her? Her height was one thing, but marriage? She laughed softly, she was never meant to marry, that was her sister's dream. She knew she had to keep her temper down, she had to.
"Marriage is for those who can't provide for themselves. Which I can do just fine, despite my size." She looked around and found a pile a wooden crates and stood on top of one, finally eye level with Fable and smiled,"Now you won't have to bend so low to talk to me. Though it would seem if anyone's cursed it's you, your true love is gone." She looked at his empty flask with a dramatic sigh,"I guess no one likes a drunk."

For a brief moment, a very brief moment, Fable's smile turned into an aggressive glare. Then, more quickly then it appeared, it vanished under a faint pained smile. Being called a drunk was one the vilest insults Fable could ever consider telling anyone. Arella had struck a nerve that Fable had always tried hard to protect. "You have got me there, Arella. That one was a little unfair." Fable walked over next to Arella, who was now finally at his height level, after she stood on a crate. "It's good to have such a sharp-tongued lass in the crew." Fable reached up and patted Arella on the head again, despite her now being at his level.

"I will remind you of that insult though. The moment I pick up some beauty on out travels. Assuming you can stay alive that long. Fable said as he hung the steel flask back onto his belt.

Arella noticed his glare turn into a pained smile, she finally got him. She discovered his weakness as he discovered hers. Her victorius feeling didn't last long though, despite her new size on top of the crate, Fable had went out of his way to tap her on the head. She glared, no longer hiding her anger at the condescending act of patting her on the head, but his statement about her being sharp-tongued weakened her glare. Was he accepting her or was he waiting out a better revenge, instead of his normal head pat? She played off her confusion with a smile and responded to his last statement,
"Beauty? You mean more sake? And I've stayed alive this long, I doubt anything can kill me off." She laughed at her personal joke, then eyed the market place, it was slowing down and, for her, there was nothing to buy. Although the sake shop was still open. She shrugged, there was never much to buy anywhere.
