Ren was having a conundrum.
A few days ago, he had been relaxing at Jove's dorm, sprawled out on the bed reading a book while his little brother had been studiously attempting to do some homework. He had been rather grumpy, flustered over something, and after weaseling it out of him, Jove had said something about a "Cat."
Then he had promptly clamped his mouth shut and proceeded to scowl for the rest of the afternoon. Ren had attempted to get more out of him, but Jove had refused, of course. So Ren was forced to resorting himself to give up.
Ren had never heard of a "Cat" at Amityville. Neither did he know what exactly this Cat had done to bother Jove, but his little brother had been somewhat sulky all afternoon. However, if Jove knew that Ren wanted to figure out who this Cat person was, he wouldn't be happy.
Hence his conundrum.
In the end, Ren had looked for Cat in the student directory. He wasn't even sure he'd find a Cat - Jove could have been talking about a minipet, for all he knew - but he did find one, in the ghost dorms, and so Ren set off in that direction. It wasn't very hard to find him; Ren soon found himself standing outside of the door, idly wondering whether or not this was a good idea. If it went badly, he didn't have to tell Jove, after all. And if it went well...well, he still didn't have to tell Jove.
He knocked on the door.

There was a long pause, accompanied by shuffling and the tiny scurrying of startled minipets, and a muffled voice talking to them soothingly as he approached the door.
"...under the bed if you're afraid. Go on!" The door opened, for a moment it seemed by no one, but quickly shadows shot up to form a short boil with cat ears. A white grin cracked the darkness of his face the moment he laid his eyes on Ren. He didn't know who he was, nor why he was visiting his dorm, but oh how deliciously exciting! How wonderfully curious! How- "-delightful~!" The sentence fragment tumbled out of him with no regard for the listener.
"Look, company! It's some sort of...fluffy thing like you, too," Cat wriggled his fingers at Ren, making clear his uncertainty of the other boil's species.
As he spoke, an extremely concerned looking Vocal Lepus peeked it's little face around the door, looking up, up, UP at the gryphon in wide-eyed horror, before turning tail and skittering away, squeaking as it went. Cat chuckled.

There were a lot of very strange noises coming from the other side of the door, none of which sounded exactly inviting. However, Ren stayed where he was, determined to at least try and figure out who this Cat person was, if nothing else.
The face that greeted him was black shadow; a wide, white grin painted onto a dusky raven body that seemed to materialize from sheer smoke. It was a short body, one with pointed black ears and it was very clearly a boil.
...at least, it looked like one, and Ren wasn't about to ask.
"Er," he said, now feeling quite ridiculous at having come here in the first place, but his curiosity drew him forward, and Ren stepped into the room, glancing around.
"Sorry to intrude," he said, looking down at the little lepus as it stared, wide-eyed, up at him. "My name's Ren. You're Cat, right? My little brother mentioned something about knowing you, and I thought I'd come see who his new...er, friend was."
That was a relatively pathetic introduction, but Ren was now quite interested in this spindly black shadow boil, his gaze sweeping across the ringletted body with clear curiosity.
