It was warm. The sun was high in brilliantly blue sky dotted with airy little clouds. A beautiful day filled with the intermittent songs of birds over head and the soft rustle of small animals moving boldly through the long grasses that boarded the Padmapani herd's home. They ignored the dark stallion that moved among them despite his questionable appearance. He was familiar to them, and they knew he'd do them no harm. He looked a beast, but he was no more evil then the grandfather who'd passed on his horns. Fierce in appearance, but not by nature. The lotus prince was on a a familiar hunt. Searching the wide lands of his family as he had done countless times before when his brother had turned up missing. The paler male was.. troubled, and Padmaraja couldn't really blame him. Their childhood, the emotional abandonment of their mother, it had left it's mark on all three siblings, but none seemed as effected as poor Phala. Padma had vowed when they were young to protect his brother and sister, to keep them safe and happy. He did his best by them, always would. They needed him, and he needed them. It's what always propelled him to seek out his brother when he wandered away. He would never turn his back on Phala. So long as he could find him again he would bring him home. He'd wandered away again, and though Pdama didn't know the reason behind it, he was looking for the other stallion.

 The brilliant day had proved to make it seem just as bright and glorious a time to stroll. Though the clouds occasionally covered the shinning sun, it was shimmering oh so brightly that they did nothing but cast a soft shade over the hot surface of the earth, only to disappear as they tumbled along the blue sky. The sounds of the animals were enjoyable; from chirps to chatters of noises unfamiliar to some people. Only locals would truly know the noises that such creatures seemed to make when they deemed it safe enough to venture out. She wasn't one of these normal familiars, but she knew some of the noises, and most were not bad enough to make her flee from the scene that she currently resided.
Bellezza was a wanderer by nature. And though at times she seemed very much inclined to just sit about and relax with her family, she often times, at least every other day, found herself venturing from her home near the forests to locate new horses and creatures that she never knew. Because of this, her father had brought her a companion, a lion that resembled her own features. This lion would be her "protector" he had said, and at the time she was skeptical of that, until he had indeed protected her from another, more aggressive horse. That was the past though, and at the moment the long haired mare moved with the wind, breathing in the smells of the summer grasses and flowers.
Her ears flicking, Belle stopped carefully to lift her nose toward the brilliant sky. She brought the air into her nostrils, filling them with the smells around her, before letting out a hum of pleasure. Her head lowered carefully, nudging at some of the grass, before she gently began to nibble upon the green surfaces, trying them one blade at a time. So far she enjoyed the taste, though she was starting to think it not as sweet as the ones near her home. She wasn't sure what made some grass sweeter than others, and it caused a curiosity in her, but that was for her to figure out later, when she wasn't in unfamiliar territory.

The presence of something much larger then a rabbit didn't escape the darker soquili's notice, and the flash of snowy whiteness at first had him thinking he'd stumbled upon his dear brother. Alas, it was not, but the quick flood of disappointment lasted only long enough for him to register what, or rather who, he was actually looking at. It wasn't Phala, not even close, but rather a very lovely young mare with endless falls of porcelain hair in flawless straights and intricate curls. It made the horned stallion freeze where he stood in the tall grass near the trees, slitted eyes wide as he gazed upon her as she lowered her head to nibble delicately along the grass.
She was a colorful thing, brighter even then himself, and he found himself following those aqua strokes of color along her hip and shoulder. She wasn't alone though, and although Padma couldn't quite see the accompanying creature that lingered near her, he did see the motion of the grass and the odd glimpse of matching color through the stalks. A guard perhaps.
The shock of her appearance had been enough to make him forget himself, and he was taking a step towards her when realization had him lowering his foot before again. Stunned features hardening as dark ears flicked back against the paleness of his mane. This was the land of his herd, and she was a stranger. An alluringly lovely stranger, but a stranger all the same and while not the protector, nor official heir to the role, he was studying under both to be strong, to one day join their ranks, and it would not look well if he did not at least consider the idea that this pretty mare was a threat. It was entirely unlikely, but he had learned never to take appearances for granted. That was a lesson that he and his siblings had learned from birth.
Drawing a heavy breath the dark stallion moved forward at last, and he regarded the other now with something other then simple attraction. There was a weary hardness to the set of his features. "Hello."
