Okayy well im a freshman and I play the Sousaphone.
My band camp started August 1st and ends the friday before school.(Agust 19.)
Well my older sister is a senior and she is section leader of the tubas. So far shes been really patient. And when we have march off's i'll win against the entire band.
This year is our year to be able to advance to state. I'm so scared i'll mess up.
And fellow sousaphone players, any tips to get your shoulder and back to quit hurting?

I only played Sousa just a little last summer.
But, from what I understand, to get the back pain to go away, you just gotta build up the muscle and get used to it, provided you're holding the instrument correctly. I would stretch before and after practice, though, making sure to get good back and shoulder stretches in - they do help. Maybe after practice put a cold pack on the sore areas to prevent swelling. :]
