A place of tranquility and many more, the Painted Shrine is a large memorial dedicated to a mysterious folk legend who is responsible for the salvation of Karakura Town. Widely known as the "Painted Maiden," known most for the good deeds she has done to revive Karakura Town and bring it to what it is today. This shrine stands tall and honorable among many other buildings in Karakura. The entire first floor is one room where a large statue of the Painted Maiden stands at the end. Along the walls, in-between arches, people have come and gone to set their own shrines of those who were neglected, in hopes the Painted Maiden will return to let them rest in peace. Candles forever illuminate the shrine day and night, showing that hope is never lost here. However, if the candles burn out... Then the city is losing its hope.
Years ago, it was said the "Painted Maiden" came from a foreign land filled of death and poverty, where nearly everyone met their terribly ill fate. Upon approaching the ancient Karakura Town, a close-to-ruined place just like the one she came from, the Painted Maiden sought to reach out to those in need, in order to prosper and live on unlike her original home. As such, she has continuously appeared to the troubled in Karakura over the centuries. Her clothing choice appears as a kimono with no folds, bound by a long single rope instead of an obi. Red marks line her shoulders, neck and face, symbolizing fate and suffering for those who lost their lives. A large straw hat covers the majority of her face, with a large veil drooping down from the edge, concealing the entire top part of her torso. When she comes, nobody is entirely sure. But legend has it she will return one day when the town needs her most...
