Characters that choose to not be a part of the fight between the Empire and the Rebels can be Neutral characters. Neutral Characters can be most classes, save for true military ones. They can also be bounty hunters, smugglers, mercenaries, and the like, as well as other less reputable characters. Neutral characters can always hire themselves out to either side as well, or voluntarily choose a side to fight for.

Neutrals have access to standard technology levels and ships, with the better equipment and such going to those better off them others. Criminal classes can always steal better things, or buy them on the black market.
