Dath and Momo were adjusting well. Dath would never admit it, but he was enjoying the guard duties, the shifts, and the fact that there were amyn other guards to work with. Sure, he was a pain in the a** and thus not very fun to work with, but he respected his superiors and did his work to a high standard. Momo was adjusting well, too, and loved the much more lush lands that this pride lived in, rather than where they had previous claimed home.

"Where are you taking me?" Dath asked his mate. He was off duty for the moment, but he didn't like to stray too far in case he was needed.

"Just somewhere a little more quiet," the petite lioness said with a smile. They were both always so busy, and she just wanted to spend some quiet time with her mate. Even if he was a pain.

Aysu often kept busy going around looking for hunting parties to help, there wasn't much else she really had to occupy her time. Keeping busy, she figured, was a good way to keep out of trouble. And while she wasn't a slave, she figured it couldn't hurt to be careful. Unfortunately for her, though, there were no hunters getting ready for an outing and she was left to her own devices. She had considered going off to find some of her siblings to bother but ultimately went off for a walk.

Maybe it would be nice to take some time to herself.

It wasn't far into her walk when she spotted the pair of lions wandering in a similar direction. She barely thought about how she had started her journey with the intention of some alone time as she changed her route and headed towards them. Unfamiliar was interesting.

Dath was the one that caught sight of the other lion before Momo. Granted, he always was the one to notice things. Momo was never...very observant, which drove him to be protective, if still frustrated at the striped lioness. "Hey," he grunted, getting the attention of his mate.

Momo's eyes flickered around, trying to see what it was that Dath had seen. She hadn't been looking in the correct direction at first, but then she noticed the other lioness. A huntress? It looked like it. Sadly, Momo had not been able to chat with every other hunter around yet.

"Heeeey!" she called, a bright smile on her features.

Unfamiliar turned out to be the wrong word as Aysu realized she had seen the lioness around before- she had to be another huntress, obviously. Still, she had never personally met her and she didn't recognize the dark fellow at all.

"Hello!" she returned, stopping a respectful distance away from the pair of them though smiling amiably, "I hope I'm not intruding but I don't think we've met before!'

She mainly looked to Momo, the more familiar (and friendly-looking) of the pair.

Momo's smile kept on shining. "Oh, you're fine! We were just going to find somewhere a little more quiet than normal. I'm Momo, and this is my mate, Dath. It's a pleasure to finally speak to you!" Familiar looking indeed.

Dath rolled his eyes. So much for a little quiet time together. Momo had to be friendly with everyone around, and as much he was usually pushed to the side a bit. Ah well, there was no use trying to pry her away from the chance to speak to someone new. He nodded to the strange lioness, not speaking a word.

"My name is Aysu," she introduced herself, her eyes having turned to Dath following his introduction. She never would have assumed they were mates, though it was the obvious choice when two lions were wandering around like that.. he just looked much less cheerful.

"Doesn't speak much, does he?" she guessed, glancing back from the silent Dath to Momo.

Dath only gave the other lioness a look before letting his eyes wander else where - out at the horizon, away from where the two lioness were standing.

Momo giggled lightly. "No, not unless he's comfortable around them. Since we haven't been here for terribly long, I'm afraid there's not very many he can claim companionship with." She paused for a moment, glancing up at him, but he was avoiding her gaze. She felt a bit sad, but...that was part of their relationship.

"Anyway, it is nice to meet you. Were you just bored like us, and wandering around?"

Aysu couldn't help but glance back to Dath when he most decidedly seemed to be ignoring the conversation taking place now. Not all that surprising, considering what Momo said, but interesting. She looked back to Momo, blinking but still smiling.

"How interesting!" she said, "It's nice to meet the both of you."

She nodded to the questions.

"Normally, I'd be out hunting but nobody seems to be hunting right now," she said, "So I decided to take a walk but then you two look far more interesting than just walking."

Dath was amused with the visitor. At least Momo was enjoying herself. He decided to just wait stoically next to her while she enjoyed this social moment.

"Interesting indeed," Momo laughed. "Hunting, huh? Well, perhaps we can try to get something going later. I'd love to go hunting with you." It seemed that that was always the best way to really get to know someone. Work ethic spoke louder than chatting words like this.

Dath glanced back at them, a small snort escaping from him. "You would," was all he said.

"That would be fun," she agreed brightly, glad to have found a new hunting companion- would reduce the chances of this happening again, though it hardly seemed to be going badly. Dath's snort caught her attention and she looked over to him again.

"Not a hunter?" she guessed.

"Guard." Dath still wasn't interested in chatting. It was hard to judge someone just from a short conversation, but at least it seemed like Aysu was a good lioness. Enough so that he didn't mind if Momo wanted to continue chatting and, in the future, keep company with.

Momo nodded, happy that Dath was at least talking at all. Sometimes he would turn into stone, not wanting to show emotions or speak. It grew tiresome when she wanted to share that feeling of making new friends with him. "Yes, so I think that's the biggest reason why he's so quiet," she said with a wink.

"Oh!"

Aysu seemed pleased with the revelation that Dath was a guard. She didn't have it in her to outright ask what their class was and it seemed increasingly likely that they were not high class. Of course, many in the high class did work so that wasn't entirely fair, either.

"I don't know," she said, looking back at Momo, "My father's a guard and he's pretty lively. Likes to hang around with Baba'Nyota, actually, you may know of him because of it."

Her eyes were back on Dath. He had to know Nyota, everybody did but all the guards worked under him. And she liked to think her dad was pretty good friends with him, at least.

"Oh..." Momo glanced back upwards at Dath, curious.

Dath only nodded, but there was a flicker of recognition in his face when she had spoken that name. Still, he was too stubborn to really speak more to the lioness. Besides, Momo couldn't help herself if she was ever curious.

"That's neat!" Momo said, wanting to kick her mate for being so annoying. "What's his name? I bet Dath has run into him during on-duty activities."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 10, 2011 5:07 pm

"Kivuli Mwezi," she answered, realizing how silly it had been to leave out his name, looking back to Momo, "We look quite a bit alike, I'd say, though he has white fur instead of black."

Perhaps it was an oversimplification but she did share many features and colors with her father.

"All my brothers and sisters and I are hunters, though," Aysu added thoughtfully, finally fitting in a remark about class, "I suppose we might have followed after dad if we could."

Dath shifted a bit uncomfortably. Oddly enough, he was feeling a bit guilty, and it irritated him more than he was willing to show.

Momo nodded. "Well, I'm certain that you all are great hunters and he's proud of you." Her tail twitched behind her as she got an idea. "Hey, how about we go hunting like...now? Dath wouldn't mind, plus then you can show me some nice hunting areas. I'm still a little new, and not as used to hunting on land quite like this."

Dath was a little more irritated now.
