Their first night in the swamp and Once Forgotten was pacing restlessly. He had tried to sleep and for a moment he had, thrown into oblivion by his exhaustion, but he had soon been woken by the ceaseless noises of the swamp. The Kiokote was not alarmed by the constant chatter of insects or the rustling of plants; they had traveled far and such things had long since stopped being a thing of fear. No, the noises were only an annoyance. Not to mention that his head would not stop spinning in circles. They had made it. They were here. Now they only needed to find one of the strange not-Kiokote that lived her and then find their father, find their origins. It was not as simple as that of course, but he believed firmly that they could accomplish it. That belief had kept him urging his siblings on at even the darkest times.

Once Forgotten stopped and shook out his mane, snorting his annoyance to the world. He had half a mind to go wake the others up and drive them into the swamp to continue searching, but that would hardly be fair. They needed to rest. Besides, who knew what lurked out in the darkness? Better to be safe then sorry, especially being so new to the place. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath. The swamp had an interesting smell. Too be honest he didn’t really like it at all, but figured he would grow used to it. This was to be their new home, so he had better.

Stormbreaker was asleep, or had been, in a tangle of long legs and dark mane. The only way to tell him apart from his siblings was his phosphorescent green glow, like some of the glowing funguses and mushrooms they'd found in the swamp. It was altogether too damp and too dark for him, but he hadn't complained; in fact, he and Once Forgotten had had to shoulder the burdens of the group equally just to keep them moving.

He would jerk awake, shaking his sweaty mane out of his eyes, and then climb to his feet for a full-body shake. "...I haven't even seen anything here that could harm us. I wouldn't worry." He shrugged. "It has to be near dawn."

Once Forgotten snorted softly and dipped his head apologetically at his sister for having woken her. “I am not afraid of attack.” He replied with a stamp of his hoof, his gaze slipping back off into the near impenetrable darkness. “I just can’t sleep.” The buck shifted his weight and regarded his brother as the others stood, his expression thoughtful. “It’s always darkest before the dawn.”

When he heard a whimper, a whimper he instantly knew belonged to Scattered, Once Forgotten gave a soft grunt. Well now they were nearly all awake. He had wanted them to get more sleep, but that seemed rather pointless now. “I told you why we’re here. We need to be here. It’s important.” He answered her gruffly, before relenting and giving her a reassuring little bump. “It is not so bad. You’ll see.”

Plainsfire laughed aloud as she pulled herself up, stretching languidly before giving herself one of those indulgent full-body shakes. And then the energy hit, and she tried to boing at Bounce in return. "Off on another day of adventures," she declared cheerfully, then nosed at Scattered. "It'll be okay, we're all here. C'mon, we'll make a game of it. Why don't we see who can spot a kime-thingy first? I betcha it'll be Bounce or me!"
