I bought my main one .. im not sure what its made out of. But just today, my mom went on a trip and got me an Oak branch! Im excited to make one!

I feel that wands are a good way to focas your powers (i cannot spell right now)

I made my wand with wood from my own back yard, well, front yard. I harvested wood from a branch that had been broken from a lemon tree. I stripped the cambium and shaved down the knots, then sanded it untill it was very smooth. Then I bought two similar quartz crystals and attached them to the ends of the wand with white ribbon, and sturdy black string, then stiffened them with a lot of glue. I then drew green and brown spirals on the knots. The whole thing is about 17 inches long, which is pretty big, but I like it and it has my own personal touch to it.
It is strange, the whole thing was easy to make because I've been making little things out of what I find in my backyard for years, way before I ever knew Wicca existed. 3nodding

They are pointed after all. Because wands have rings, they attract energy like a magnet. Well, I may be wrong or have my facts mixed up, although this is what I have learned from my "Essential Wicca" book. Wands are really easy to make, and it is a lot of fun. 3nodding A simple cut branch will do, but you can make them as elaborate as you want to, adding runes, your name, symbols, stones, feathers, you name it.

Although they are not needed, they can help direct and focus your energy. Do you plan on doing any magick or rituals? If so, then those items would be very useful. And if you cannot get an Athame, I hear you can subsitute it with your wand, or simply your arm. The magick originates from the person, not the tools after all.

There's a metaphysical store I went in with my best friend one day, and I was just going to buy a few gems, but as soon as I walked in, I was drawn to the display case, and there lay an amazingly beautiful athame. I did not think I would buy an athame for a while, but that day I bought it. When she handed it to me, and I held it, a warmths went from my fingers and palm straight to (for lack of better description in my tired head) the center of my being (hm... oh well, point gets across) ^_^ I was extremely happy that day ^_^ It had clear quartz for the handle and red and almost black garnets around the hilt. ^_^ um, but yeah, that's my experience with it.

penguin182002 Cool, I'm still trying to find a store here that has anything like that!!! ah. I did a yahoo search, and put in my city and state, and it came up with a few. There weren't a lot, though. One in a city close by, a bookstore downtown, and another by the beaches (it's the one by the beaches I go to a lot. They have an amazing Amethyst gallary too) And I also looked in the yellow pages, also under metaphysical. Don't know if that helps at all or not...
