Weapons:

Human and alien technology has mingled well over the past thousand years. Many different types of weaponry are available, some available on any civilized planet, others are restricted for military use, and others are home-built by criminal syndicates or planetary military forces.

Most technology can be broken down into these types.

Projectile: ie bullets. common almost everywhere, especially on backwater worlds. inexpensive to make and buy.

Flame: used mainly by the military or on agricultural worlds with tough or overgrowing types of fauna, it is uncommon to see them in use in combat, but several models are available. Banned on most civilized worlds.

Laser: the next step up, this is common for most mercenary, planetary militia, and most military and police units. more expensive to buy and produce, they are easily aquired through legal or illegal means.

Plasma: advanced tech reserved for elite military, mercenary, and government officials. fires magnetically sealed balls of superheated energy that can melt through almost any armor type but military and ship grade armor.

Explosive: from grenades to missiles, these weapons are strictly controlled by the military.

Gauss: firing superheated, hyperaccelerated rounds, these weapons are for elite shock troops only. they use a special firing mechanism to fire smaller then average projectile rounds at unheard of speeds, penetrating almost anything, including military armors.

Railguns: experimental for ground troops, standard on almost every military ship, they fire large projectiles (slugs) at hypervelocity speeds, causing them to explode on impact. punctures anything not shielded.

Nuclear: Military only. Only the Empire knows where these types of dangerous weapons are.

Biological/Chemical: same as nuclear.

Disruption: This banned and highly illegal technology is carefully controlled. Capable of killing on one hit, these customised versions of a plasma type weapon merged with a railgun style firing mechanism can turned a unshielded target to ashes, literally tearing them apart atom by atom, and in agonizing pain for the minute or so it takes them to vaporise completely.

Armor has increased vastly over the years, and varies in protection, cost, and style.

Standard Armor-Kevlar: This armor protects against bullets, with ceramic inserts and trauma plates adding protection for vital organs and areas, and increasinf protection against higher caliber and automatic gunfire.

Upgraded Armor-Reflective: This armor is made of ceramics and Plastron, a tough form of plastic. It provides protection from laser weapons, and can be worn with Standard armor underneath.

Environmental Armor: This armor has little in the way of weapon protection, but is sealed against vacuum, radiation, and harful atmospheres and gases. Can be upgraded to protect against some types of weapons, for military only though. expensive, but useful, one of the first extra armors a spaceship captain buys.

Titanium-Composite Armor: This is standard military armor, and can be found on the black market or in use by mercenaries. It has superior protection against most weapon types, and can take at least one hit by a plasma weapon. Can be upgraded with environmental armor.

Cooling Armor: Advanced military armor designed to withstand laser, flame, and plasma weapon hits. used by heavy troopers. expensive and uncommon outside the military or mercenary bands.

Stealth Armor: Advanced prototypes, these are rare and ungodly expensive. they have a visual cloaking divice that can hide the user from eyesight, radar, and other scan methods for up to five minutes before recharging. Has light protection, and is used mainly by assassins, elite military sniper units, and the royal guard.

Power Armor: The most expensive armor for ground troops, this is heavy, robotic-assisted armor that protects against almost anything. Only gauss or rail weapons can punch through it easily, otherwise, explosives will work after several direct hits. Used by shock troops and royal guards. This armor has enough robotics to allow the user to lift heavier objects, allowing extremely heavy weapons to be carried easily. It is made of a rare and extremely light but durable alloy called Thurium.

Ship Armor: Comes in a variety of types. Light, Medium, Heavy, and Super Heavy. Super Heavy is restricted to warships, and provides protection against almost any starship weapons except armor piercing missiles, heavy plasma cannons, and nuclear weapons.

Ship weapons: Most are just larger types of ground weapons. Turbo Laser cannons, Turbo Plasma cannons, missile launchers, rail guns, and Gauss cannons are usually used on military ships. Most other ships that are not authorized to carry heavy weapons get by using laser cannons, missile launchers, light plasma cannons, and quad laser cannons.

Ammunition Types.

There are many types of ammunition in the galaxy, these are the more common variants.

Projectiles: bullets. easy to make, easy to customize, they come in a variety of calibers and vary in effectiveness based on materials used.

Flame Weapons: Use Flame fuel, refined from Hydrazine, which in liquid form, is far better then a gasoline based flame weapon, as it burns hotter and longer, and its liquid form has a natural stickiness to it that increases damage, as well as being far harder to extinguish.

Energy Weapons: Laser weapons use Hydrazine gas, refined into a volatile form similar to its natural state when it is sealed into the crystals it is mined from. Plasma weapons used Hydrazine mixed with other chemicals, giving them their extra power at the expense of draining power packs faster. This is why plasma weapons have larger ammunition capacities, because they have less shots compared to a laser weapon.

Missiles: These explosive projectiles range from high explosive to armor piercing to EMP rounds. A variety are available, though such weapons are restricted for civilian usage.

Railgun Rails: These are heavy gauge slug rounds, the projectile caliber of which is around 30mm. These are rifled all the way around, and shaped like a corkscrew. They have a small cap of propellant fitted to the back, and when it is fired, it helps increase the speed to hypersonic levels.

Gauss Rounds: These tiny rounds range from 2mm to 4mm in caliber size, and are spike shaped. They are sealed into a magnetically sealed charge pack, wrapped in a plastic explosive, and when fired, the explosives detonate and give them extra speed, as well as increased armor piercing capability over any other projectile aside from railguns.

Grenades: These come in a variety of types, from smoke to tear gas, puke gas, nerve gas, bio weapons, high explosive, EMP, plasma, nails, and more. All types are strictly controlled for military use only. They are often stolen, and many are in the hands of pirates, Rebels, and smugglers, though they are never the nerve gas or bio weapon models, as those are far too closely guarded.
