Dimitri is technically a United States citizen as well as a Southern Korean one, since his parents were a retired zoid pilot from before the war and a south korean woman. The two had fallen in love and gotten married. After the war began and the OA was formed, Dimitri's father was not able to get back to the States, instead stuck in South Korea.
Dimitri was raised on a rather tight budget for the family, growing up relatively regimented until his teens. Thanks to the relatively small income, he was a very outdoors child, since his parents couldn't afford much beyond the essentials. He made friends all over the city, and once he entered his teenage years, like many others that either lived on the streets or were in positions like his, he was drawn into some of the local street gang activity.
After he eventually left the gangs after a near miss with OA policing forces got half the gang killed and another quarter captured, Dimitri drifted from job to job. But without professional experience, he barely even made enough to support himself, much less try to help his parents with there financial troubles. He eventually ended up going into the OA, where he quickly showed skills he had developed on the streets in his quick adaptation to the Rev Raptor Zoid and his use of it's agility and speed. He was put into the ranks as a Zoid officer pilot, but after a time, he was promoted to a first lieutenant and placed in command of a team of artillery zoids, which he still commands now.
...But I Must Warn You:
Dimitri is fairly calm most of the time, and is willing to share a joke with most everyone. He seems to be able to make freinds with little difficulty, and in general seems to be a nice guy. However, he is rather sensetive about his family, and even the lightest insulting joke about them can light him off onto an angry streak, and that's if your lucky. His promotion from second to first lieutenant would have likely been one of the fastest in history, except for multiple trips to the brig for various reasons, almost all of which could be tied back to insults about his family slung by other pilots or personnel. He has a reputation about this that has stopped most of the insults dead. However, if you give a serious insult to him or his parents, he'll just smile, offer some half-hearted retort, and walk away. However, within hours of each of these encounter, scathing rumors of all sorts of things would be flying around the base about the one that offered the insult. He seems to have been gaining better control recently, but no one has wanted to test that. Also, a fact that almost no one knows outside of his Zoid team and some of their mechanics, is that he does not like the aggressive, genocidal expansion of the OA. IT is too inhumane for him. However, it has never stopped him from his duty as a soldier and officer, although he has gone out of his way in attempts to save civilian lives, almost getting scrapped once or twice. He tries to always minimize the threat to his teammates in any operation they are involved in.
