What better way to start learning a language, just to find out that you already know lots of words! That gives you an ahead start, or it is the easiest way to expand your vocabulary dramatically! cool

I'm gonna give you guys a few Dutch sentences - without the English translation, because I want you to come up with them yourself.
Scary? Not at all. It's actually pretty easy. Just read carefully what it says one word at the time, then read it out loud, think it over for a split-second (what does it sound like?) and I promise you you'll do just fine!

Keep in mind that the Dutch grammar does not exactly match the English grammar. So sometimes you can just leave words out and sometimes you need to add some to complete the sentence untill it makes perfect sense. In the end of this lesson you can translate the sentence "Mijn linkerhand is niet rechts" without any help!

Let's just try a couple.. and try not to google it, because then you're missing the point of this lesson really.

De ring is zilver

De ring is goud

Het licht is rood

De pen is rood

Ik eet een banaan

Ik eet een appel

Ik zie een appel

Mijn hand

Mijn rechterhand

Mijn linkerhand is niet rechts

Ik zit in een tent

Wow that didn't go bad at all, right? Kudo's for you!! 4laugh

Lemme know if this worked for you or not. If so, I can make another one of these little lessons and let's see what else you already know! biggrin
