((Yus, Meep is time-skipping. I hate to do it, but it frees up room for RP and plottage and all that. At this point, our swampies haven't meet Kimulimuli yet, or Kikawaida (who's gone wandering anyway) for that matter. Those things'll happen...well, whenever they happen.

But anyway, like the title says, 'tis just an ORP...hasn't got much a purpose but to be here, at the moment, for whoever wants. biggrin ))

It was just another day in the humid, alien environment of the swamplands, but to the pale lioness who was resting near the swamp's western edge, it was a wonderful day, the humidity a warm blanket and the drooping branches a comforting canopy for her home.

Asali'jua, who by now was unmistakably carrying cubs, was nestled amongst the twisted roots of a fine old tree, half lying in a pool of dark swamp water. Her tail flicked in and out of it, regularly disturbing the water's stillness.

The lioness with the honeyed tongue was drifting in and out of doze, content but thoughtful. Occasionally the five cubs within her would stir, but she merely smiled at the signs of life, wondering who it might be -- one of the girls, or one of the three brothers? She knew the count already, but it was a secret she kept to herself. Let the mystery of it remain intact for her consort.

Slowly, she flexed her forepaws with an accompanying yawn, claws kneading at a treeroot's thick bark. Idly, she wondered when the other two dwellers in the swamp would show themselves, the will-o-the-wisps of the Spirit-talkers' past. They were here, she knew...had known, for days now. But the seer saw no need to tell of it, nor to seek them out. They would emerge when they emerged, whoever they might be.

No need to rush..no need at all...

For many moons the lion had followed the stars, the winds pushing and brushing against her form and telling her which way to go. She would never become one to question such actions, and always trusted the Earth around her, for that is what she had learned in years past. To follow with the Earth and Nature is a wise choice indeed, one that will lead only to prosperity.

Today, the light humid winds were pushing her to the southeast, towards a strange new world that seemed to change completly from the one she had lived in. No longer did the grassy hills of the southlands brush against her paws, but a new humid landscape caught her eyes. Without knowing it, she had stepped into the historic Swamplands, where ages ago lions fled when the floods had been cast. The humid air seemed to echo of something happening long past, but all she could do was pause and go on.

Palesa would not lose her trust in nature.

Stilling once more, her scent was picked up by the winds as she did not catch another, but instead caught sight of Asali'jua in the distance. A lioness was in the humid lands, and Palesa could only lower her head in caution as she picked up her pace for the second time that day.

Asali'jua lifted her head to the breeze, amber eyes sliding halfway open. Aah, the wind...her old friend. For so long she had blown on its currents, but no longer. She was home now, where she belonged; her wanderlust was all but spent.

But the wind would always have others to sweep up in its grasp, and it seemed that today it was blowing one her way. The green-pelted lioness wasn't hard to discern once she was close enough; green she might be, but she was pale amongst the dark vegetation of the swamp. This was not one of the swamp-wisps, she knew.

Slowly, after a few moments more of lounging, the Queen rose. Her back half was soaked through with the waters of the swamp, dripping from her fur while some bits of bottom-muck and algae stuck, resisting the slide back into the water.

But the heavy lioness paid this no mind; she was a swamp lion, and had no issue with looking like one.

Her paws sunk slowly into the grounds with each step, and soon enough Palesa found herself lifting a paw and shaking off the muck, her eyes moving upwards to the skies in questioning of what purpose she was to fufill here. Lowing her light brown eyes, Palesa soon found herself catching sight of the clearly pregnant lioness in front, her ears flattening and her muscles tense once again before she grew close enough to speak.

"Greetings..." she spoke softly to the other, her small mane falling into her eyes before she flipped her head to get it away. She still disliked the ground underneath her paws, and before the other could respond, she took a moment to observe just what it was she was standing on. The dirt seemed to be sponge-like, or as much of one as she could concern, and almost felt like the sands by the watering holes in the Southlands. With each step a small noise came from the pull, and her paws took an effort to rise out of the swamp. It was no paradice in her mind, but was not a disliking that filled her being.

It was merely something different, something new, just like the appearance of the lioness was in front of her. Such an intresting pelt, it alone told her she was somewhere that was not as free as her homelands were in the past.

She stepped forward from the tangle of tree roots, her own paws sinking a little deeper in the soil with the extra weight she bore. The movement disturbed some of the clinging muck she'd acquired in her resting spot, sliding from her hips down legs marked in cream and brown.

Even with bowed back, the sun-marked lioness carried herself with a natural and patient grace, which found good company in her peaceful, almost knowing gaze.

"It is not often that the wind passes through here bearing leaves from other lands," she spoke steadily, a glimmer of curiosity in her eyes, "I wonder, then, why today it has made an exception."

There was no unwelcome or sarcasm in her words, only sincerity and interest.

Palesa perked her ears as the other moved up, walking out of the waters and into the slightly dry lands. Soon however, all she could do was tilt her head just a small inch to the right, her eyes catching the gaze with Asali. All at once, she moved a step back and lowered her head, narrowing thoes eyes at the return to her greetings.

"The winds are unpredictable, ever changing as each season comes and goes..." A favorite of hers was to speak with the winds, her voice coming and going with each word like a steady breeze, the one that always guides her paws.

"Alas, that is why I have journeyed here, the winds called for it..." She than glanced around, "...and where is here?" Her voice was soft as a whisper as she questioned the lioness in front of her.

Asali's tail swayed behind her, never truly still. As the other stepped back, she eased into a sit. Being comfortable was of great interest to her, of late.

"And yet, in that they are predictable." The regal lioness chuckled. "They are always changing; that can be counted on, at least."

"Alas? Do you not find it agreeable to be blown such; or is it that you do not like where they sometimes deposit you?" Curling her tail around herself so that the tuft brushed her forepaws, she smiled. "Here is where the children of Mama Bwawa make their home. These are the Swamplands."

"Regret is not what flows from the winds, it is simply surprise, and nothing more." She glanced around before her soft eyes landed back upon the queen, just glancing to her before her tail lifted from the muds, "The Swamplands...I see..." It made sense that the swamplands would be conveinently located in a swamp, but of course Palesa had never been to such a landmark before.

"And this Mama Bwawa...she must be the mother of the swamps?" It was mild curiousity that filled Palesa's words, curiousity and slight humor, though it was not mocking. It merely was one of an adult who did not get anything, and yet did not feel foolish in their conquest.

"These lands are not grassy nor are they filled with warmth from the sun, they have their own warmth that flows through the air like a rich honey..." Her ears flickered with the comment, "...They are something, alright..." With that one comment, a small smile filtered across her maw as she glanced back to Asali.

((I am sorry to say that I am going to be off of gaia for a few days. There has been a lot and it is really pushing aganst my motivation and my inspiration for RP, so I will take these days to 're-boot' so-to-speak. I apoligize ahead of time for any inconvience, and I look to jump back into this RP as soon as I get back into my 'groove'.

Until than, please forgive me sweatdrop ))
