On a day as sunny as this, with birds singing and life buzzing in his ears, Rafe couldn't be any more at peace then at that moment. The hustle and bustle of daily life was something Rafe had no interest in, if it wasn't noticeable in his easily irritated glance. Today was one of those days when the noise had become too much, and he found himself lounging in the high branches of a tree with an Ann Rice book open in front of him, his legs dangling except his page-turner, which followed sentence after sentence as he ate away at the written text, lips moving in time to his reading without him realizing it. His book had begun to slip, but in his concentration he didn't notice it until it was already slipping to the ground below, a murmured curse escaping his lips as her grabbed for it uselessly.

Astra had been walking through when she noticed a strange object falling from a tree. Her instincts told her to run and catch it before it hit the ground. Her body had just went under the item when it hit her on the back, she had safely caught the item before it could be damaged. She peered up into the tree, her silver eyes searching for where it could have possibly come from when she saw the male. "Does this belong to you?"

"It does." A frown formed at the corners of his mouth as he flitted down, quickly taking the book without so much as a 'thank you' and he turned to climb back up the tree, only to pause and flick his gaze back to the femme. "Normally, you let it hit the ground and pick it up. Don't injure your spine over a book, Miss." He had intended it to be simple advise, but his words wound up being much harsher than he'd intended.

Astra frowned at how rude he was behaving but she let it go. "Thanks for being concerned Sir." She told the male with the same cold response he gave her. The black female couldn't believe that someone could behave in such a manner. Her back turned to him and she began to walk away from the tree only to lay under her own tree.

Well, he'd made her mad, it seemed. But he wasn't the type to go socializing over something so simple as a misheard comment. He climbed back up to his branch, turning pages in his book in an attempt to find his place and sighing with the lost. Closing his book, he hopped down, walking past Astra and tossing the book at her feet, "I'm done with this."

Astra was completely shocked that just because he lost his place that he would toss it aside. "Now wait a minute!" She called after him as she got to her feet to follow after him. "What is wrong with you? I'm sure it is a good book!" She tried to reason with him but in the back of her mind, she wasn't sure that she could reason with someone like him.

He glanced back over his shoulder, a soft sigh escaping his lips, "It's hard to find a footing in those books, and I'm just not in the mood to find my place among 300 or so pages." He'd stopped walking, for the moment, and he turned around to better examine her expression as he spoke, "I don't suppose you would just leave it at that, however... Do you want something from me, other than to yell at me?"

Astra realized that she had probably gotten too emotional over something so silly. "I did yell at you didn't I, I apologize." She said the words in a calm and soft manner, she didn't want him to think she was really that angry with him. "Perhaps we should start over, my name is Astra." The black female decided that the best way to start over anything would be to introduce yourself that way at least you aren't strangers anymore.

His brows raised, not expecting the apology in the slightest. The fact that most noodles would give a name in response went right over the males' head, and he only nodded, somewhat less of an aggressor, "It suits you, I suppose.... Astra." The way he pronounced her name made the 'R' roll on his tongue in a diluted trill, hinting at an unknown Russian accent he wasn't himself aware of.

The black female wanted to know who it was she was speaking to. "And you are?" She let the last word linger a little longer before she ended her sentence. Astra ignored his accent, she didn't really see any particular reason to talk about it, she just wanted to learn more about him and that was her main objective.

His ears flicked back, an agitated look crossing his face as he turned away from her, "I don't feel up to telling you just yet." Rude? Yes. But if she walked away now, it would only prove to Rafe that she was a quitter, like most noodles. If she wanted something more from him, then she'd keep at it, wouldn't she?
