I know alot of people use some kind of strong foam for armor. Not sure what it's called, but just look up tutorial's on making armor.

Probably wouldn't hurt to check out forums for the 501st Legion (the guys who do their own Stormtrooper outfits), though that might be the most expensive route.

That's all I got, though. I'd love to make me some armored cosplays one day (Terra from Birth by Sleep? Hell yeah!), but that's probably a huge matter of time and money.

lmao Im gonna take a look at 405th, for halo armour. But yeah, the foam may be a good idea.

on a seperate note, besides using a motorcycle helmet visor, what can I use to make a see-through visor??

Umm.. A see through visor?

Umm.. Oh, those plastic folders, the see through ones? they are stiff and structured but still pliable for a visor.

Armour can be made with craft foam and shaping it with glue...like a water glue solution that soaks into the foam and then shape it as it hardens.. For futher support you paint varnish over it..

This is my forte! At least, a lot of people seem to ask me tons and tons of questions, pretaining to armor.

I made all the armor in my Fran outfit, and it was extremely budget friendly.

All the armor is made out of craft foam paper/foamies. It comes in sheets that you can buy at Hobby Lobby/Michael's, etc. It tends to run about $.99 a sheet. You can ALSO buy it online in big rolls-- which honestly, is what I would suggest. I bought sheets and I had to superglue tons of pieces together to get what I needed. @.@

It comes in different thicknesses too. The stores typically carry 2 MM and 3 MM. You can buy thicker online, like 6 MM.

I used 3 MM or glued two sheets of 2 MM together to get a nice thickness.

Now, craft foam can be delicate. I coated mine in several layers of Modge Podge, which is a sealant. It did wonders to strengthen it up and gave it a nice shine!

So I have never done armor before.
I have always just stuck to outfit cosplays.
(I'm not that artistic when it comes to more >.<)
I want to branch out a bit more, and try something different.
I was wondering what would be the best way to go about something like this.

This outfit wont be a reality until next year.
However, since this is my first time I would like to start planning now.

I also have this cosplay I was thinking about, but I think I like the other one better.
Which do you think would be the easier one to try for my first time?
I also will probably be getting help from my sister, because she is the artistic one rofl
