Jūbantai-Fukutaichō My name is not... УȖЯЄI-ҪΗΛȠ! ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀ When her station as the Jūbantai-Fukutaichō was made official, Yūrei was informed quite subtly that she would be subjected to a training session in order to obtain the Shikai of her Zanpakutō and if she managed not to disappoint, there will be one in the future for the Bankai. As it was, she had and still has her own agenda for joining the Gotei 13 so anything that needed to be done in order to keep her there was fine by her. It was the slightest bit of information about her past that was on the line so any form of training, bring it on please. That was why she was standing with her feet apart to some extent on the grassy field of the Gobantai Training Grounds with the katana given to her by Erudaa held against her right shoulder. After learning inconspicuously that the closest person to Akiyama Eriko, her true target, was Gobantai-Taichō, Masashi Lee, she could not help herself in requesting that he be her trainer for the session and the next one, if possible. Now, she tapped her foot impatiently against the earthy floor and waited patiently for this man to show himself. She had scoured the indoor facility already, leaving almost immediately since it did not take long for it to begin to bore her. She preferred hand-to-hand, always had. It was the one technique that stuck during those few months while she waited to be sent off to the Academy and it became even more obvious once she attended and surpassed everyone in her year eventually. Loosing patience at quite the rapid rate, Yūrei rubbed her temple once and tapped the katana against her shoulder once before leaning forward into a run.
Holding onto the sheathed blade with a viselike grip, the young Lieutenant continued to push herself forward and faster without ever executing a Shunpo. Since she knew herself, which was not that long ago, it was made clear to her that her temper was not like other those of other people. There was no calm before the storm or any obvious warning sign for that matter. She snapped simply at times and this was one of those times. Fortunately, while building on what she could gather about her persona, she came to the simple realization that all she required was a bit of space to exercise it all out. Thankfully, the present gigantic grassy plain plus forest made this an option for her and we would not want a passer-by getting hurt, would we? Eventually, her run took into the semi-dense forest not that it mattered. Utilizing her body’s momentum to her advantage, Yūrei slipped into various flips and twirls while pulling a black ribbon from her hair and stashing her katana and shoes into the void that it opened and sealed once more. Kicking off of the ground, she landed safely into a tree and tied the special ribbon onto her wrist. Still feeling wound up tightly, she took to jumping from tree to tree, sometimes using her hands and feet as if she were a jungle cat. There was a particular freedom that she enjoyed immensely in believing that she was free of restraints, at least until she did not feel like ripping the next person’s head off. The only reason that she was even this much on edge was because Lee-Taichō was, by her standards, late.
Coming to a halt, she allowed her body to hang from a branch, a couple feet above the ground. In this part of the forestry, the land was not as flat as the grassy plain, giving itself away to the natural bumps and rises of the earth. At least, that is what she assumed. Tensing and releasing her muscles as she allowed herself to hang literally, Yūrei could not help but wonder what this Lee person would be like. Apart from those that had instated her in her first position within the Gotei 13, she had not been acquainted with anyone else and to top that, she had only asked for him because he might know something that will help her with knowing the mysterious Jūbantai-Taichō a little better while the woman was away. Sensing her body temperature was cooling, Yūrei released herself promptly onto the earthy floor below, landing deftly on the dirt. Stretching some more, she wiped off her clothes and took a deep breath of the fresh air, one final attempt to calm herself down. She was starting to hope for Lee’s sake that he was already on the outskirts of this forsaken forest, preparing himself to call out her sobriquet and to commence her Shikai training. ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀ Sometimes I wish that I knew myself... |---| Masashi, Lee, Gobantai TaichōGobantai Training Grounds"I cannot stand who I am, I'm this man. With this blood on my hands, in this blood I am damned. So watch my wings burn as they burn in the fire. Don't scatter the ashes, no need for the choir." Lee had been somewhat surprised by the request that he be the girl's shikai trainer however he had agreed all the same. Eriko was currently away on some mission and therefore it wasn't like she could train the girl. He arrived with plenty of time to spare before the training was supposed to take place and immediately found a tree in the forest to conceal him. The outdoor area would be better suite to shikai training and therefore that was where it would take place. The girl arrived not long after him to wait for him to arrive. Suppressing his reiatsu output to a minimal amount he watched the girl from the shadows. Lee wanted to observe her for the moment to get a good idea of what he was dealing with. She seemed quite young. At least appearance wise but appearances could prove very deceiving. Her impatience was made clear as she began to run. Watching as she got faster and faster he waited until she stopped completely before making any movements.
As she settled on the ground he stood up and grab a hold of his zanapkutō. Executing a shunpo he appeared right above her and without warning made one lightning quick cut up above severing the branch above her completely and causing it to fall towards her. He wouldn't allow himself to kill her or wound her beyond repair of course but he didn't want her to know that. Mercy was not something that had much place in a training session. Sometimes it was necessary for it to appear the shinigami was in mortal peril to help speed up the process. After his slash Lee waited for her to react and moving backwards as he watched her some more his blade now resting at his side so it appeared he might be able to be caught off guard. He didn't say a word for now preferring to just observe and react for the moment.

Jūbantai-Fukutaichō My name is not... УȖЯЄI-ҪΗΛȠ! ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀ Keeping her breathing under control and at a steady pace, Yūrei glanced around at the surrounding trees before the snapping sound caught her attention. With blind luck, she responded to the sudden attack by kicking off the floor so that was parallel to it before chucking the wooden arm over her head and behind her with a kick forceful enough to send it speeding into the abdomen of a man that she assumed to be Masashi- Taichō. Completing the full circle of her body twist and standing once more on her own two feet, she forced herself to lower her body slowly until she was on all fours, hands and feet. However, once her hands made touchdown, she flickered out of sight into a Shunpo, not bothering to make a zigzag pattern as she found them useless, using a direct line of attack instead. Plus, she was not sure if this was the one that she had been waiting for or if it was some well-dressed imposter. Midway, she switched seamlessly to a series of cartwheels, alternating between the usage of one and two hands. On her second to last cycle, the Lieutenant utilized the momentum once more to her advantage to perform a somersault above the man that would bring her right foot into his shoulder and crush it if it hit home. Slowing herself down at this point, she reached downward for the dirt and swung her left leg into a sweeping kick from left to right that was designed to break both of his kneecaps if all went in her favor. Turning with the kick in one fell swoop, she was facing him again and pushing herself upwards with her right arm poised to strike an open palm punch to his lower jaw once she was on her feet. To end all of it, in unison with the open palmed strike, her left hand fisted itself and struck out at the right side of his ribcage with intention of breaking three for the least.
Yes, she wanted information from him. Yes, she thought that he could be of value to her in relation to her personal agenda. However, all that she needed for that to be possible was that he could speak and his brain was still intact. Other than that, she did not see the need for his other body parts. Then again, there was always the chance that he was not Masashi- Taichō. That would not be a good thing even if he had attacked her first. Drawing her hands away from the man’s person, Yūrei took an opportunity to see her handiwork if there was any to view as well as to stretch her limbs out some more. During the whole ordeal, her face had been relaxed which made her feel weird every time since she was fighting to decimate her opponent usually and although, it was not happiness, to feel normal while doing it was a bit freaky to some degree. Pulling her arm over her head one more time to feel the tug of the muscles as they were stretched to their limit, she settled her time one more time to focus on her opponent especially if he survived all of it. It was not every day that she got to play with someone that was capable of that if one excluded the days when she had started her training with Erudaa. She did miss him a lot and for the briefest of moments, it showed on her face with furrow of her brow. However, even he would be disappointed in her if she got distracted by such thoughts in what one could consider her first official sparring session since her recruitment by the Gotei 13. So, she stood there silently, staring and waiting patiently for the man’s counterattack. ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀ Sometimes I wish that I knew myself... So that I may feel beyond this... |---| Masashi, Lee, Gobantai TaichōGobantai Training Grounds"I cannot stand who I am, I'm this man. With this blood on my hands, in this blood I am damned. So watch my wings burn as they burn in the fire. Don't scatter the ashes, no need for the choir." Lee simply brought his blade up cutting the entire slab of wood in half causing it to continue on harmlessly on either side of him. Next he sheathed his zanpakutō for the moment. Watching as she touched down with all fours before flickering out of sight Lee followed her movements though they were still blurred. She wasn't the first person he had seen move fast. He had witnessed faster though he couldn't keep up visually with the fastest of them. She moved above him utilizing all the momentum she had built up in an attempt to drop her right foot onto his shoulder and crush it. Wordlessly using Seki he formed a barrier between his shoulder and her foot. Her foot hit it and was stopped from reaching his shoulder.
Next she attempted to use her leg to break both of his knee caps not moving as fast as she was before. His right leg met her left each time it attempted to hit his knee caps stopping them from getting broke. It was also his way of showing her that he was proficient in hakuda and that he had the strength to back it all up. Finally she finished the attack up by aiming an open palmed strike to his jaw and another strike to his ribcage. Bringing his left hand up he pushed the strike aimed for his jaw to the side enough it struck nothing but the air. Then using his right hand he thrust his palm into the other strike putting just enough resistance in the action to allow her strike to push him back with the aide of an unspoken Shō. Nearly gliding backwards he pushed down with his feet and stopped himself completely.
A curious look filled his features as he stared at her. After a few moments he decided to ask her the natural question. "Why did you ask for me to train you child?" Him calling her child was not meant to be insulting he was simply going by her appearance. After his question passed from his lips Lee held his right hand out to his side. "Hyapporankan." Using the kidō to form a stabilized staff of energy Lee spun it with his fingers once. "I am Masashi-taichō. You should be trying to communicate with your zanpakutō. Trying to learn it's name. It may be hard at first but fear not. It will grow exponentially easier if you are about to die." Or if you think you might die he finished mentally. Utilizing shunpo he moved forward at full speed closing the distance between them in seconds. Thrusting the staff forward once he used the range it provided to proceed to thrust forward multiple times each time aiming for a different point on her body. The staff appearing blurred as it moved in rapid succession attempting to incapacitate her with each strike.
Then kicking back he spun in a circle as if about sweep her body with the staff waiting until he completed a full circle before releasing the staff towards her. It broke down into numerous rods of energy and Lee held both hands out in front of him. "Tenran." The widening blast of wind shot out picking up the rods and scattering them a little more than normal to give the bakudō more room to work. Then pointing a finger directly where the middle of wind blast was and therefore at her he spoke again. "Byakurai." The beam of lightning shot out and closed the distance in an instant attempting to pierce her chest. Each attack was executed in rapid succession. Given the speed she had displayed earlier he did not think it was a death blow. Therefore his body stayed tense waiting to move at a seconds notice if need be.
(If there are any questions pm me. It made sense in my head at the time however who knows >.<)

Jūbantai-Fukutaichō My name is not... УȖЯЄI-ҪΗΛȠ! ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀ The sight of him being almost unaffected by her previous onslaught intrigued Yūrei. She had caught that little backward stumble on his part, not that it mattered. It was a side effect if nothing else. Now, she looked up at him as he asked a question which honestly, she had not thought that he would ask her. It did not bother her that he had used the term ‘child’. Erudaa had used that exact terminology until she beat him fair and square in a spar. For this fight though, she had figured that when the time felt right, she would let her intentions be known to him. Apparently, this was the right time, but she will take her time in answering him. Not that she had much choice when he activated a high-level Bakudo, a Hyapporankan no less. This was one of those times that in the heat of the moment, she wished greatly that she had not discarded Kido while in school. She steadied herself, filtering his voice until it was nothing but white noise in the background. With that much concentration, she was able to tell when he took that initial step into a Shunpo that she could not follow for long after that first second. Regularizing her breath, she prepared herself for the continuous thrust of rods from his original one. She swooped, swayed and twisted as was needed for her not to be impaled by the binding rods. Unfortunately, all of that movement nipped and ripped her clothes at the oddest places.
By the time that the more experienced Shinigami was making his full circle sweep, her jacket had been cut off from her body and was hanging from her waist presently. She was lucky that that even happened but she was not planning on surviving with only luck’s permission. Upon seeing the rest of the staff break down into several smaller versions of itself, she ran in the other direction, slipping into a four-legged Shunpo and taking it to the trees so that the rods would have something to strike. She did not bother look back when she heard the man state another Kido spell. She did not have time for this. Assuming that the gust wind could only go in one direction, she dropped her body unexpectedly onto the ground, missing the last Kido by the grace of luck again. Once she rolled out of tumble, Yūrei dashed toward Masashi, undoing the bow at her neck, catching her katana as it fell out from the void, and increasing her speed until she was more or less in his face. Not quite meeting Shunpo speeds as yet, she launched the bottom of her hilt upwards with her right hand slanted in the direction of his heart, executing the first strike of Haato no Yogoreru, meaning that it would be more forceful than a normal one. As soon as that was done, she turned that arm so that the top of the saya would strike the center of the man’s lower jaw. At this point, her left foot would attempt to mash his right foot and if that did not work, her left knee would still come up faster than usual to strike his abdomen. For the last blow, her left hand would strike the right side of his neck, severing his windpipe if it made it home.
She was angry. In reality, she was no less than pissed off in that moment and for the life of her, she could not understand why. “I chose you because,” she responded at last, trying her best not to convey this invasion of negative emotion, “You know her, my Captain. What do you know?” She was not a person who liked a lot of talking. Back home, she had been trained out of it especially when it came to the subject of her family. Erudaa was not fond of the topic and he said something only when he had to, like when he sent her here with the mission of finding Akiyama Eriko because she held some level of truth for her. Distracted by her own thoughts, she bent backwards and executed a very slow backward flip that even if her opponent was taken off guard, he could dodge it easily. “I need to know,” she whispered, the anger slipping out of her voice at last, leaving it flat for that statement. She could not remember much about before she was a hundred and sixty years old. It was all a big blob with too many holes to count and if this guy had any information on her one verified source, she was going to get it one way or another. Thankfully, due to her training, in spite of her current thoughts, none of it was conveyed via her facial features. She had to remain calm so that her opponent could not read her body language and this will be over a lot sooner or so she hoped.

|---| Masashi, Lee, Gobantai TaichōGobantai Training Grounds"I cannot stand who I am, I'm this man. With this blood on my hands, in this blood I am damned. So watch my wings burn as they burn in the fire. Don't scatter the ashes, no need for the choir." Lee studied her movements as she dodged his flurry of strikes from the Hyapporankan staff. Her jacket was not so lucky however as by the time his assault was finished it was barely hanging on. She seemed to be graceful under pressure which was a good thing. As his attack launched towards her she took off into the forest using the trees as cover. The Byakurai hit one of the trees and blew the base apart sending it flying into a nearby tree. While he probably could have altered the direction of the tenran with his skill he left it going forward as he searched for her spiritual pressure. Searching was useless however as soon she showed herself and dashed towards him with her katana in hand. Gripping his own katana he prepared himself to meet her attack head on. Her first attack was her the bottom of her hilt being thrust towards his heart. It was obvious she had something up her sleeve with the attack and therefore Lee was not about ready to let it hit him.
Turning sideways he allowed the attack to just barely graze him in an attempt to gauge it's strength. Even with what little had managed to hit him it was still an impressive hit. Unsheathing his blade he used the dull side of his blade to knock her second attack away from his jaw. Her foot landed on his foot though he showed no signs of feeling any pain from the strike. It did serve to warn him of her knee coming up. The opposite knee of his hurt foot raised up so that their knees collided together. To deal with her last strike he brought his blade up flat side facing her and bracing it with both hands as her strike struck it stopping the attack aimed for his neck. Her anger was apparent and Lee had to wonder why. Anger had no place on the battlefield as it tended to make one sloppy. True some people could harness anger and use it to their advantage but most tended to let it weaken them.
Eyes traveled down to his foot as he looked at it for a moment before his gaze returned to her as she spoke. Her answer for choosing him was curious one. Did she have some kind of ulterior motive for wanting to know Eriko? Or was it simply because she wanted to know what kind of a person her captain was? Deciding it was likely just a lieutenant wanting to get to know her captain Lee considered how to answer. Then his opponent did a back flip and he simply kicked off the ground moving away from her in time to dodge it. Then she spoke again about needing to know. Still considering what he could tell her Lee decided on an immediate answer that would hopefully cause her to try harder at this training. "I know of her yes. Knowledge does not come without a price however child. So if you want me to tell you anything then I want you to learn shikai. Once you know the name of your zanpakutō and release it then I will tell you about her. Till then focus."
Holding his zanpakutō out to his side he cleared his throat. "Sobieru, Namihime." Releasing into shikai he moved his zanpakutō in a full circle before suddenly slashing out towards her. "Mizusaki, Rikujōkōrō." The wave created from the action shot towards her without warning and beams of light appeared around her attempting to slam into her waist and hold her in place. After his attack he waited to see how she would react again. He was still testing the waters so to speak with her.

Jūbantai-Fukutaichō My name is not... УȖЯЄI-ҪΗΛȠ! ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀ Coming out of her lazy flip to stand firmly on her feet once more, she listened half-heartedly as he confirmed what she knew already and proceeded to bribe her into achieving her Shikai. If he only knew what it meant to her to know about the older woman, he would not even think of such an offer, let alone say it out loud. However, she had no intention of making her true intentions known. Besides, how hard could it be to achieve the first release of one’s Zanpakuto? Idly, she looked at the katana in her hand and furrowed her brow at it. Before that pose could last for too long though, the man’s voice interrupted her trail of thought, this time stating what she assumed to be the release command for his Zanpakuto. Well, this was going to be odd fun. She was not used to this. Kido was not her specialty and here she was battling against someone who specialized in Kido. If he did not have a shred of potentially valuable information, they would not be having this spar right now. She took note that he said the names of two separate offenses, recognizing the second one as yet another high level Bakudo spell.
“How about giving more incentive?” she shouted as an expansive wave of water appeared and started moving directly for her while simultaneously, six thin, but wide, beams of light came into view, making their way to hold her in place at her midsection. Apart from her personal agenda about her past, there was something else that she had hoped never to show another person. However, she was not delusional enough to believe that everything goes according to plan. If that was not the case, she would not be in this position and would not need to “try and communicate” with a spirit that she did not believe to exist. Throwing herself to the ground in a hopeful attempt to dodge the Bakudo, she engaged another four-legged Shunpo, placing some distance between her and the water. With a few feet accomplished, she scrambled to her feet quickly, utilizing the enhanced speed as she had done previously, extending her arm to execute a fairly powerful Sōkatsui since there was no time for the incantation. Not waiting for the Kido to collide with its target of the watery wave, Yūrei pushed forward, bending her body back so that it slipped across the dirt and under the presumed collision of fire and water. Once she was beyond it, the Fukutaichō raised herself off the floor and continued her path to Lee, harnessing still the speed of the Shunpo. She was feeling very off balance for some reason, like a switch was trying to flip itself in the other direction but because of who she was, it could not be done.
Grunting uncharacteristically at nothing in particular, the young girl dropped her katana into nearby bushes and launched herself in the man’s general direction as if about to tackle him. The movement was familiar as she had been animalistic in her fighting style since the original day of her training. However, it did not feel the same. She was not in the driver's seat and if she was not, who was? Not fighting it though, she twisted her body backwards during her airborne trajectory so that her right leg could come into contact with his chin. Stretching her form already to touch the Earth, she pulled her legs into her chest while executing a tight somersault until she appeared to be sitting in the air for some brief moments. With her legs facing Lee again, they extended immediately to kick the man directly in the abdomen. At this point, she was slowing down and felt it when her butt bumped against the ground. Unfortunately, the unsettled feeling had not left her. She was sure that giving into it for some seconds would have done the opposite. However, before she could stop herself, Yūrei jolted upwards from her current position, preparing herself to attack again. This time, once on her feet, her movements were rash yet measured. She felt controlled even though, in that moment, nothing could be further from the truth. The miniature female looked up menacingly at her opponent from under her brow like a feline would before punching her right hand toward his heart, another attempt at the first strike of Haato no Yogoreru. Almost instinctively taking into account that he could dodge this one as easily as the last, she turned to her left and when her back was parallel to his front, her left elbow shifted upwards in an attempt to damage the right side of his ribcage.
Whether the hits were successful or not, she could not take it anymore and backed away unsteadily. In spite of going along with it for that long, the balance within her spirit had not been restored. Pulling her bangs away from her face desperately, Yūrei sank to the floor in slow motion, landing with her legs in the shape of a 'M'. Naturally, her hands went to her knees for support. What was happening to her? Why was she feeling so unsteady? Maybe if she was a different person, she would cry or something to let others know that something was devastatingly wrong. Erudaa had mentioned that this behaviour was something that she had inherited from her father’s side of the family. Unfortunately, according to him, no amount of training could rid her of the habit completely. If that was the case, what kind of unstable people did she have for relatives? Who was Eriko to her? Why did she have to find her? “I have to know,” she whispered to herself again. Breathing through her mouth now, forcing her body to remain calm. This was not her. She did not freak out. It was not allowed and served no purpose. That had been her logic since she knew who she was. With that logic reinstated, Yūrei forced herself to get to her feet and retrieve her katana with steadier footsteps. She did not have time for episodes and thus, returned to face her opponent with a solemn expression. “I take your deal. What I do?” Words did not come natural to her so her statements resembled broken English most of the time, not that it bothered her. Even with the little that she knew about herself, she had a pretty good idea or so she hoped.

|---| Masashi, Lee, Gobantai TaichōGobantai Training Grounds"I cannot stand who I am, I'm this man. With this blood on my hands, in this blood I am damned. So watch my wings burn as they burn in the fire. Don't scatter the ashes, no need for the choir." Lee gave no indication of having heard her as she asked for more incentive. If she wanted to know anything she would learn shikai. He wouldn't tell her a word about Eriko until she at the very least gave it a good try. The girl dropped to the ground to narrowly avoid the bakudo aiming to slam into her waist and hold her still. Her speed was admirable. Especially as she scrambled away from the wave of water using a fire kido to attempt to stop the water from reaching her. They collided and the water won thanks to the kido being weakened. It continued on into the trees however she was no longer there. Eyes scanning the surrounding area Lee turned in her direction as he barely heard a grunt. She launched herself in his direction as if she was going to tackle him. She attempted a pretty straight forward attack to his chin and Lee dodged his head to the side while delivering a palm strike to the side of the leg. She did a somersault turning the momentum into a double kick towards his abdomen. Bending backwards he held his right palm in front of him and used an unspoken Kaikō Shindō to stop the kick from ever reaching and maybe damage her legs further.
She landed on her butt after her attempted kick stopping for a few moments before she jolted upwards. Another punch was sent for his heart and he repeated his earlier action this time however as he turned sideways he used his left hand to the push the strike away which was helped as she spun around and sent an elbow towards his rib cage. It was very obvious the girl specialized in hakuda as she had yet to show him anything else really. Forming a small barrier in the area she was attempting to hit the barrier served to weaken the elbow strike before it made full contact. It was probably the difference between cracked or bruised ribs and just being sore. After the attack she backed away unsteadily after pulling her bangs away from her face sank to the ground. Watching her to see what exactly she was doing it seemed almost as if she was on the verge of a breakdown. She whispered something that Lee just barely made out. She had to know what?
Then she forced herself to her feet and retrieved her katana. It wasn't long before she returned in front of him accepting his deal and asking him what she needed to do. "First I am sure you have heard it attempting to speak with you. Perhaps you thought you were hearing things at the time or maybe you couldn't make out what was said. If so then you need to attempt to communicate back with it through meditation. Sit down with your zanpakuto across your lap and try to communicate. If that fails then I will simply have to knock you unconscious to help it along."

Jūbantai-Fukutaichō My name is not... УȖЯЄI-ҪΗΛȠ! ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀ Yūrei stared at the man as he responded to her offer of following his instruction. Maybe she should have told him that she did not believe in a Zanpakutō spirit. Then again, that might be counterproductive and she would be stuck here for a longer time period than what would be necessary. Her eyes opened wide involuntarily due to the shock given by his ending statement. Personally, she has believed always in doing what was necessary to get the job done but would knocking her out serve the purpose well? He did not seem like the type to josh about something like that since he had been trying to kill her essentially since they started this training session. The girl looked at him for a second longer before shrugging her shoulders and doing as she was told. Naturally, she closed her eyes as soon as her butt was comfortable on the earthy floor and began breathing through her mouth once more in a continued attempt to calm her being. Unfortunately, the more that she tried to calm herself, the more that the unsettling sensation plagued her mentally. Was this how her Zanpakutō was trying to communicate with her? Masashi-Taichō had said ‘heard’, though. This was nothing more than a feeling and it was not a good feeling by any stretch of the imagination. With her eyes closed, she was locked within her own personal abyss since there was nothing to see, hear, touch, or even taste. Outwardly, her face scrunched up because honestly, she was confused. There was nothing here. However, there had to be something if she was experiencing a tilt in her balance, almost a complete capsize. ‘Who are you?’ she shouted into the hollow darkness of her mind. Her retrieval of any identifiable information about herself depended on her ability to achieve this feat, the activation of her Shikai. There was a stagnant silence in response to her question and Yūrei had to wonder how far could she push herself into the depths of her mind to pull her Zanpakutō out?
Her face in the real world would change from an appearance of confusion to determination as mentally, she tried to climb deeper and deeper yet into a world that she did not believe in as she tried to find a being that made no sense to her. Eventually, she obtained the mental picture of her standing in a desert at night. The queasiness had grown stronger over the past few minutes which led her to believe that here was where the source lied. However, she could not see anything except for the shadowed images of mountains and boulders in the distance. Something had to give them that shadow, though. When she looked up at the night sky, she found the only source of light for the whole plain: the partial white lining of an abnormally large moon. Well, she assumed that it was a moon because everything was so dark that it was night time and if it had been a sun, the area would be much brighter than this by far. Even with this latest discovery, nothing happened to her or to the desert and she had to ponder on the possibility that she had gotten lost somehow. During her first visits to Erudaa’s home, she had lsot herself so many times that he had threatened to make wear a cowbell at all times. Instead, he sent her off with Susu, his husky, and after a couple more visits, she was more than able to go and come back as she pleased without the assistance. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. Obviously, she did not know where she was going, what she was doing, or even if she had a Zanpakutō of which to speak! It was after this last thought that the area was enveloped in the rattling roar of an unseen animal. The frightening sound lasted for two minutes tops but Yūrei’s shaking lasted for four minutes, rocking both the mental image of her and her actual body. However, she did not squeal, relaxing herself immediately both inside and outside. ‘Where are you?’ she shouted into the emptiness, trying another question since the first one had been answered somewhat. She felt the word ‘everywhere’ breathed into her mind and it sent a slight shiver down her spine, affecting both of her beings simultaneously once again. She wiggled a bit due to the feeling but regained her composure within a second or two.
‘That is not possible,’ she said, using a more controlled voice this time, ‘Show yourself to me. Why am I feeling this way?’ There was a grunt to her far right and nothing else. ‘I need to find out who I am and I cannot do that while playing hide-and-seek!’ Ironically, a burst of black energy surrounded her in the Inner World, rising in the form of a pillar with her at its center. It did not burn or feeling like anything in reality. Simply, it passed over wherever she may place her hands in its way. Regrettably, this pillar made nothing visible to her at this point and interfered with her ability to hear as no sound came to her either. ‘Tell me your name, at least,’ she pleaded, remembering how Lee had called on the name of his Zanpakutō. She was beginning to freak out again, not that it would be conveyed through the body language of her person in the real world. However, within the pillar of the desert, tears were threatening to run from the corners of her eyes. Throughout this ordeal, the upset feeling had not left her but now that she was taking note of it, it did not feel as intense, as if it had subsided since her time here, wherever ‘here’ was. ‘What are you, then?’ she tried again, succumbing to the tears at last, crying blatantly to find her way out of there, to find her way back to herself, to find her way home. ‘Let me go, Meiryō!’ Instantly, the pillar was blown away from her body and she was left standing there, facing a white Bengal tiger. It looked at her with the human expression that translated as ‘Could it really be you?’ She did not understand what was happening but she was more than happy when she felt at ease for the first time in the last how many minutes of her life. She stared straight at the tiger with no fear in her posture. ‘Is that your name?’ she asked quietly, not moving her lips. Apparently, her Zanpakutō was logical to the end. Since its spirit was an animal, it could not converse like a human. The tiger narrowed its eyes before nodding once so as to answer the question affirmatively. Because it was the most prevalent thing in her mind, she could not miss the chance of asking it something else. ‘Do you know who I am?’
At this, the feline backed away with a stricken facial expression. It averted its gaze from her for a few seconds to look at the white lining of the moon before settling on her for a second time. ‘What is it?’ Yūrei tried to prompt it but again, the tiger backed away from her as if she was asking too much. ‘Not now,’ was breathed into her mind once again and because it was most hurtful thing said to her since her childhood, tears leaked out from her eyes where she sat in the Gobantai Training Grounds to the point of sniffling. Wiping at the wetness on her face in the Inner World, she pursed her lips and shouted in anger, ‘Why not? Why the hell not? I bet that you are not even my real Zanpakutō, huh?’ The tiger stayed put for the first two questions but the last one was simply offensive. She, the tiger, started to move forward in a very predatory manner, instilling immediate fear into her mistress. When there was not less than five feet between the two, Meiryō released another fearsome roar in the air, rocking the very land upon which they stood. Once her mouth closed, her face returned to a calm expression, allowing a peacefulness to flow from her into Yūrei. The girl twitched at first when she felt the literal atmosphere around her change but it carried a message with it. It was words that she had come only to expect from Erudaa and all related persons. However, here was this majestic beast that can be both intimidating and intimated telling her in her own special way to trust her. ‘I do not do that easily. Then again, you knew that probably.’ The cat purred a response and approached Yūrei, rubbing against her as if she had missed her. Yūrei rubbed the cat’s head playfully and found it strange that the motion felt natural, something that she had been doing for as long as she could remember. Of course, that was not possible or was it? The tiger had said not now and if that was the way for it to be, she would place some blind faith in the beast. Instinctively, she pulled herself up into a riding position upon Meiryō and without instruction; the tiger began to charge forward.
Again, she did not understand what had happened within the small space of time that she had been there but she was felt free of unacknowledged restrictions; as if she had been holding herself back all of these years. As the pair moved forward, wisps of black energy would begin to rise from the ground around where Yūrei was seated with her katana across her lap. It seemed as though they were riding straight into the blackened moon. While it got closer to them, more wisps would appear and at a faster rate. By the time that they were one step away from walking into it, a pillar like the one that had enclosed Yūrei in her Inner World would envelope her body in the Seireitei and reach to the skies before bursting outward in a similar fashion, cutting through trees it may come into contact with them but not harming any persons that it may touch such as Lee. Once the dark energy cleared, Yūrei would be standing with her unsheathed Zanpakutō in her right hand and pointing downwards. Her head bent, she stated clearly the release command, “Kageru za Akari, Meiryō!” Not wasting any time because she needed this more than the b*****d could know, she allowed her body to disappear into the ground below and she ran underground without any tunnel of any kind, testing out her special ability called Hōmatsuteki Tamashii (泡沫的魂, Transient Soul). Once she had averaged how far apart she was from Lee while above ground, she stood beneath him and swung her sword upwards, an action that sent a wave of dense black energy upwards to halve the man from bottom to the top. Unfortunately, the strength of it rattled the immediate area and that could act as a warning to the man for what was coming and from which direction. Thankfully, she was not too far beneath him as well as that it would travel at a quick pace because of her sharp turn of wrist to execute it. As soon as the wave left the tip of her sword, she jumped back, enjoying the fact that she could move through the earth literally, before pushing herself upwards to above ground. Once she was out of the earthen floor, not waiting to hit the ground, Yūrei created a platform of reishi under her feet, located Lee, but stayed put, satisfied with looking at him while holding her sword at her side, tip down. Don't scatter the ashes, no need for the choir." Lee stared back at Yurei as he waited for her to do as he had instructed. He didn't fail to notice her wide eyes as he mentioned knocking her unconscious if her meditation didn't work. He figured she would realize he was being completely serious. After all he had appeared to be trying to kill her the entire time. However his attacks were mainly just to wound and not kill. He wasn't about ready to kill a lieutenant in training after all. It was all in an attempt to gauge her strength and determine if she even had the necessary skill to achieve shikai. She did what he asked of her and before long it was obvious she was no longer present as she was in her inner world. "Good luck child." Watching her differing facial expressions as she went through the process of learning her spirit's name Lee sheathed his blade keeping it in shikai. Tears leaked from her face and Lee stared at her in slight concern. Was she not ready? Did something happen? Arms crossed as he watched suddenly she was engulfed in a pillar of dark energy that then dispersed in the surrounding area cutting the nearby trees to the ground.
Yurei was now standing and holding her zanpakuto in her right hand pointed downwards. Then she spoke the shikai command and name of her zanpakuto releasing. Then suddenly she disappeared underground. Staring directly below himself as from what he had seen of her personality she would attempt attacking him. The ground rattled and he kicked off the ground using shunpo to move quite a ways in the air. Turning to the ground the wave of black energy erupted from the ground towards him. Swinging down twice in rapid succession he sent two waves of water crossed to meet the black wave. He didn't know the strength it held and therefore wasn't going to take any chances. As they collided with the each other his naturally proved stronger and continued on to the ground. Eyes stared sideways as she appeared out of the ground again and stopped in mid air. Standing up straight Lee gazed in her direction with a calculating look. "She is shy at first. Once she gets to know you however she is quite sociable and a good person. She prefers to work alone but is not unwilling to work with others. Or at least that is how she used to be."
Falling silent for a few moments as he thought the reason she had changed he let out a sigh. "Recently she has changed and whether for better or worse I can't tell. She has become a lot more carefree with not caring as much about her responsibilities. I am sorry to say that is my fault. She...trusted me and I wounded her on an emotional level. She may appear cheerful and carefree but I know deep down she is in a lot of pain that I caused. I regret hurting her so deeply. It's too late to change it now however." Staring ahead without blinking or any emotion on his face he waited to see how she would take what he knew about Eriko. He didn't even attempt to hide that he was the cause of her change. It was just one more thing he had done that he would have to live with. "So what now child? You did what you set out to do and achieved shikai. I have told you about Akiyama-taicho. I am sure you are starting to feel a little fatigued." Achieving shikai could be exhausting to some people. Not to mention they had been fighting before she achieved it.

Jūbantai-Fukutaichō My name is not... УȖЯЄI-ҪΗΛȠ! ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀ Yūrei listened tentatively as the man began speaking about Eriko, she presumed. She did not show any facial reaction to what he was saying but her sword hand began to tap against her thigh in a measured manner, a few seconds interval between hits. The tempo increased as he admitted that he was the root cause of the woman’s personality change, that he hurt her so deeply. That did not matter to her. Personal disputes were personal disputes. She had no right and reason to meddle in an affair of the past. Obviously, Eriko had dealt with the situation in a manner that felt natural to her, no matter how stupidly merciful it seemed to Yūrei personally. When he stopped talking, her tempo ceased and she observed him with her eyes. In spite of the man’s attempt not to convey any emotion through his face, his voice and choice of words told her enough that it was something that he regretted. It was not her responsibility to fight him on the issue. However, on the issue of whether to retire at that moment or not, her decision was not as easy. It was true that the fight had started to take a toll on her physically, if not emotionally, but it was not only her type of person that she needed to know. “Is that all that you know on the woman? Surely, if you knew her well enough to cause such a dramatic personality change, you must know more about her than that.”
The girl gulped here because as passionate as she was about her cause, she did not want to commence something that she would not be able to finish. As a way to convey that the fighting could stop for now, she sealed her Shikai and slipped the katana into its saya. “Please, Lee-Taicho, did she ever speak about family? Has she any siblings? Is she close with them? Did she ever mention how her childhood was?” Yūrei knew that this line of questioning could raise suspicions quite easily but it was information that she needed. Erudaa had not sent her here by mistake or on a whim. He knew that this woman would be able to help her and if said woman was not available, she needed to get information about her target from the next reliable source. Maybe something about Eriko’s past could help her with her own journey. Allowing herself to get carried away with the quest for knowledge, she began to walk aimlessly within a tight circle, still asking questions. “Did she have a particular walk? Were personality changes a habit of the woman? Did she have a preferred fighting style, Lee-Taicho?” The last question came out with a dreamy tone of voice and immediately, in an attempt to cover her true intentions, she stopped walking idly and continued hastily, “Because to know these things about my Captain will be very beneficial for everyone. She would not have to bother with introducing herself and I have not much to offer history-wise so we could get onto the work as soon as possible, yes?” She knew that it was not like her to do anything near this but she wanted to sell the lie for everything that it was worth. Yūrei plastered an uncharacteristically bright smile onto her face and shrugged her shoulders in an offhand manner. Hopefully, the man did not think too much about it and answered her questions simply.

So watch my wings burn as they burn in the fire. Don't scatter the ashes, no need for the choir." Yurei began tapping her leg with her sword hand at a steady beat that only increased as he mentioned it being his fault for Eriko's personality change. Lee raised an eyebrow as she suddenly stopped and stared back at him observing him in much the same way he was her. She seemed to be trying to decide on her next course of action as the silence dragged on. Lee decided to let her break the silence however as it was her turn to react. The silence dragged on nearing the awkward silence phase when she suddenly spoke. Lee narrowed his eyes at her as she gulped obviously wandering if maybe she pushed too far on the subject. "No that is not all I know." He wasn't about to go in depth on everything he knew about her however. That was not for her lieutenant's ears. Or anyone's ears really. It was something private between him and her. Yurei sealed her shikai and sheathed her zanpakuto signaling she was done fighting for now. Then she proceeded to ask another barrage of questions.
Eyes still narrowed slightly his left eyebrow raised up in a slightly questioning way. The questions were beginning to go beyond the desire of a lieutenant to get to know their captain in his eyes yet he decided he would answer these questions. "She did speak a little of her family she has brothers. She is not all that close with them if I remember correctly. She did mention how her childhood was." As far as Lee was concerned he had answered the questions even if some of the answers were not exactly what she might have expected. That wasn't really his concern. Soon Yurei walked aimlessly in a circle before suddenly she launched into another barrage of questions. Again the questions were sending up red flags but then again he decided he would answer at least a couple of them finding some things Yurei needed to find out from Eriko herself. The dreamy tone she used to ask the question furthered his believe there was something he wasn't being told.
"Personality changes is not a habit for her. If she chooses to tell you why exactly she changed that is up to her. She had a preference for hakuda much like yourself." She stopped walking and then hastily spoke up again. What she said sent up yet another red flag and his eyes remained slightly narrowed wandering exactly who this girl was. Then came the bright smile that seemed quite uncharacteristic from what he had witnessed so far. She finished with a shrug of her shoulders in an offhand manner. Deciding it was time to question the girl's motive for asking Lee cleared his throat. "Why are you asking all these questions? Don't give me the whole a fukutaicho wanting to get to know her taicho. You don't seem the type to want to know these questions just to introduce your taicho to others. You seem more like the type to let others do that sort of thing themselves. So answer my question." His eyes remained narrow and suspicious as he asked his own questions.

Jūbantai-Fukutaichō My name is not... УȖЯЄI-ҪΗΛȠ! ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀ All hope for a clean getaway was shot to hell when the man finished his series of brief responses with a question of his own. She knew that she had pushed too far, that she had made the whole situation too tense. He did not know her. He knew Eriko-Taicho, though. Naturally, he would be suspicious of someone, a new recruit, asking for all of this personal information about a ranked officer. She should have gotten a friend of Erudaa’s to gather this level of intelligence for her. Then again, if she had done that, she would not be free physically of the man. What was she supposed to do? She could not exactly lie to one of her superiors and hope not to get caught. Obviously, hope did no one any good. She stared at him with a bit of panic in her eyes as she tried to calm this mental turmoil and to figure out what the hell she was supposed to do now. Assuming that he was telling her the truth, as lacking in detail as it was, she was obligated to tell him the truth as well. Yūrei tugged on her left ponytail, twirling the hair between her fingers. The uneasiness had not left her facial feature but she was trying her best not to convey the same emotion in the rest of her body language. Slowly, she allowed herself to reflect on the man’s answers in an attempt to achieve this. Eriko was not close with her family but had brothers. She was not unstable to the point that she changed her personality often. The woman was proficient in Hakuda as she was. In fact, her affinity for the method of combat seemed almost natural, instinctive. What if Erudaa had sent her here because it would lead her to a relative? What if Erudaa had sent her to find her mother? Surely, she remembered the man telling her that her parents were dead but it would not be the only time that he would have lied to her while she was living with him.
Taking a very deep breath, Yūrei stopped playing with her hair and twisted her mouth to the side in thought. Her eyes narrowed as well, erasing some of the panic as she began to determine in her mind what would be the best way in which to introduce the man to her story. Her arms hung loosely at her side with the katana tied at her side. She took another breath before opening her mouth to speak at last. “I,” she started awkwardly, “I ask for my own personal interest. It has nothing to do with being her Lieutenant really. I think that she might be able to help me and I figured if I knew something about her, it would bring me a lot closer to my goal.” It was vague. It had so many red flags that it could outdo a beach on a bad day but she left it as it was. She did not try to pass it off as something that it was not. This was her problem and all the help that she needed from anyone was the type of assistance that would lead to the answer of her unknown past. A few minutes passed before she lowered herself into a sitting position upon the reishi platform. Absentmindedly, her lips curved at the corners into the semblance of a small smile. Once she realized this change in her facial features, Yūrei ducked her head so that Lee would not be able to see her face. What if that was it, though? What if she had found someone who understood her because they shared the same DNA? She would be home in a sense of the word if that were the case. Of course, she would have to kick Erudaa in the head for lying to her about her parent’s death but what if this was it? She could not help deepening the smile with her face hidden at the moment. She needed this to be it. What if Eriko-Taicho was her mother? “Did she have any children?” she asked abruptly, not raising her head by an inch. Don't scatter the ashes, no need for the choir." Lee did not fail to notice the slight panic that seemed to overtake Yurei as he asked her why she wanted to know. She didn't answer him immediately and that made him even more hesitant about answering anymore questions. She needed to talk to Eriko is what needed to be done. Still Eriko was out on a mission and honestly when she was expected back was still in heavy question. Personally Lee had absolutely no clue when she would be back. He didn't really know why she was gone either though. He hadn't really considered asking at first and when he did it just didn't seem like his place anymore to ask such things. His expression didn't change from the suspicious and fierce expression he wore as he wanted patiently for an answer. The expression didn't change as she narrowed her own eyes at her. If anything his may have narrowed just a little bit further. The girl was quickly making him lose his considerable patience as she still remained silent while she thought.
Another breath was taken in and then finally she started speaking. The start was quite awkward but she quickly moved passed that and said what she needed to say. It was vague but no less vague then most of his responses had been so he couldn't really blame her. Still Lee had to question what goals she was looking towards that involved Eriko. Her answer did nothing to curb his suspicions. After awhile she lowered herself to a seated position and then suddenly her lips curved into a small smile. Then as if she realized she was smiling she ducked her head in an attempt to hide it. Staring at her form in silence she suddenly asked another and somewhat confusing question. Surprise flickered into his features for a few moments at the question. "What?" She didn't think that Eriko was her.... no. Still it was an odd question that only furthered his own questions. "No she has no children. And trust me I would know if she did. Why do you ask?" Surely she had expected the question after such a seemingly random one.
