Golden eyes remained fixed on his slumbering mother. A white hill of fur growing and shrinking with each of her even breaths. It had been awhile now since one by one everyone curled into a makeshift pile of heaving bodies that slumbered in unison. Riddi remained silent though, inspecting the den their mother housed all of the youngster's in. His eyes straying from his mother to his brothers. He was still too young to wonder, but he could atleast perceive. That two of his brothers were considerably larger and one was smaller than himself. Riddi knew what their size differences meant first hand. Feeling his stronger siblings almost effortlessly pushing him wether they meant to or not.

A plush ear flickered, and carefully the youth tip-toed through the mess of bodies towards his smallest sibling, to better inspect him. However during his clumsy steps, the cub's hind paw snagged on a limb of his sister's which ultimately caused Riddi to tumble forward and lay sprawled over Isokisi. A soft grunt heaved from the tiny male, and it took him awhile to regain his bearings. Staring off in a daze as he practically suffocated his brother laying over top the pale male.

User ImageIsokisi puffed out a lungful of air, and started squirming until he managed to roll out from whatever was on top of him. He made a humming noise, locust-like, in his throat in annoyance at being woken up, and let his eyes adjust as he tried to smell who had been on top of him. It took him a minute to identify his smallest, but still bigger then him, brother.

Isokisi cocked his head at his Riddi, wondering why he was awake, and if something had woken his brother. Or maybe he had just never fallen asleep. Isokisi chirped questioningly at him, and stood up and stretched. He was awake now, so he might as well make the best of it.

Riddi's ears flattened as his eyes snapped open in an expression of pure shock and horror once he realized his mistake. Hearing the pitiful whisp of air force from his younger brother. For whatever reason, maybe from shock, Riddi didn't make a move to get off of Isokisi who ended up wriggling his way free from below. The tussling and finely furred bodies of the brothers showing the stark contrast between them. Snowy white and reddish clay in colorations.

Riddi instantly understood his brother's hostile guttural complaint. Bowing his a fraction, the cub squinted his eyes due to the broad and apologetic smile he offered. Pretty much saying 'Soooooorrry' with his expression.

The tiny cub only righted himself when he watched Isokisi pull up to a standing position, bending his body to give his muscles a good stretch. It's funny how little things are easily read between those who are close. "I no sleep." It took him awhile to pull the sentence together, having only learned a few words, seeing as adults were to speak little around the cubs.

There was no helping the fact that he accidentally forced Isokisi from his slumber... so he figured they could at least play. Reaching out a flat paw, he batted it at his younger brother's head in attempt to tussle the flap of fur nestled there.

Isokisi was used to his siblings making those sounds by now, even though he thought the grown ups made the sounds better. He thought it was a bit odd, the noises they made, and although he was starting to understand what the words meant, he didn't understand why they used him.
Or why he didn't really, but he was content with the noises he did make as long as they got his point across.

When Riddi fluffed his hair, Isokisi responded by butting his brother in the shoulder, then dashing past him around the sleeping pile. His head and ears emerged from the top of the pile, and he chirped again, hoping Riddi would play chase.

The young one jolted back a fraction from the sheer force of the blow, taking a single step back with widened eyes as he stared at his little brother. Mildly shocked from the punch behind his headbutt. Watching him scamper off behind the body shield of their slumbering family members and pop his head up to urge Riddi to follow.

A sly grin coiled the corners of his maw as the young one wriggled his eyebrows. "I'll get'cha!" He growled playfully, dropping his torso close to the ground before pouncing forward to circle around the pile and chase down his chirpy little brother. Gracefully flouncing after him with a grace of a lady. With his tail flagging off side to side behind him, the dark male narrowed his eyes a fraction as he began to snap his jaws in attempt to catch the tuft of his brother's tail in his maw.

Isokisi felt his brother's teeth connect to his tail tuft, and pulled away, managing only to lose a few hairs as he ran back to the other side of the pile of sleeping bodies. Instead of peeking back overhead again, Isokisi started humming to himself, low in his throat, and crept quietly around, trying to get behind his brother again.

Snapped his jaws in frustration, shortly after the other slipped free from Riddi's clamped teeth. They raked for purchase to no avail. Furrowing her brow in, the little male fluffed his fur a bit before pouncing after his brother, aiming to follow slippery and wriggly one.

Despite how elusive he was, Isokisi lacked stealth it seemed. Humming away and giving away where he was headed with the faint buzz from his throat. Riddi swiveled his ears in the direction of the noise's source, creeping around after the brother who was circling to try and shock HIM. The pair of boys walking in circles around the pile of sleeping bodies.

It took the white cub a few minutes to figure out what was going on. Once he did, he had a better idea then going round and round his sleeping siblings and mom. Isokisi spun, chirped at his brother, and, which a devil-may-care grin, raced out of the den to hide in the larger living area of the pride. If they were awake after bedtime, they might as well have some real fun!

Riddi was pretty simple... he was satisfied in merely circled around and around with his sibling. The very notion of leaving the den was out of the question. So the sudden sharp yelp and devilish grin came as a surprise, coupled with the fact Isokisi barreled off out of the den.

Riddi's eyes widened in disbelief and momentarily the boy remained stalk still. A few moments passed after Isokisi left before Riddi mustered the courage to chase after him. Having fought the initial urge to wake up their mother... but Riddi didn't want to bother her. He WAS the eldest brother. It was his duty to take care of everything when their mother was incapacitated, right?

Darting out of the den's entrance, the youth began his search for his smaller brother... Why does he have to be so SMALL?

This time, Isokisi stayed silent - as silent as he could be. He thought he had hidden himself rather well, wedging himself into a hollow of a rotten log, quite intimate with the centipedes and fungus going about their duties. He thought it was the perfect hiding place.

Unfortunately, his tail was outside of the log, and the moonlight reflected quite nicely off of it, revealing his hiding place.

The soft pats resounded, coupled with the strained and panting breath of the winded cub. Having zig-zagged around in search of his sibling. Riddi didn't realize just how quiet Isokisi could be... how quiet the swamplands could be! It was haunting.

But keeping the mild fear under wraps, Riddi focused on the endeavor. Find Isokisi and go home.

Stopping completely, the male swiveled his head this way and that, glancing over every single detail as his ears flickered for any source of noise. And around that time, the cub's eyes settled on the familiar furred length stretched out from the log. Pursing his twitching lips, Riddi restrained his laughter. It looked as if the log sprouted a tail! Slowly inching closer, the boy crept forward and practically scuttled along the ground. Opening his jaws to lightly bite at the end of Isokisi's tail and yank on it to hopefully pull him out of his hiding place.

Isokisi allowed himself to be pulled out of the log by his older brother, and chirped in greeting when he emerged, slightly tarnished, from the log. He stood up again and moved his tail, ready to leap off and hide again if Riddi didn't want to stop playing.

It was surprisingly easy to pull Isokisi free from his hiding spot. It didn't take much effort to remove his tail from Riddi's maw. It practically snapped open when he saw the debris clinging to his fur. That black on white made Isokisi appear dirtier than he actually was. When he leaped away, Riddi grimaced momentarily. Hoping the next thing his brother hid in, was some water to wash himself off. Giving chase, the elder brother felt it necessary to keep tabs on the smaller one.

Isokisi did splash through a puddle, clearing his legs, but then he came around and settled quietly in the opening of the den. He thought it was fun to be up when he was supposed to be a sleep, but he was tired. He hadn't been expecting to be up and running around in the middle of the night. Next time his brother found him, he was going to run back into the den, dirt and all, and try to go back to sleep.

Isokisi wasn't the only one who was tired. The strain of the muscles on his tiny legs were getting him physically and ultimately mentally tired as well. Riddi had forgotten just how late it was! Staring up at the twinkling specks that shown through the branches of the swamp, the cub marveled at them momentarily as he skid to a stop. After a good, long look Riddi finally calmed himself down and trekked back the familiar route to his den, seeing Isokisi waiting there politely for him. Riddi apologetically bowed his head a bit, chuckling when he got a good look at his brother. "Sorry for making you stay up..." Riddi said softly, "Thanks for playing with me."
