The credits for "Kung Fu Panda 2" started to roll, reminding Marcella that she had been sitting still for the last two hours or so. For how old the theater was, the chairs' upholstery had held up remarkably well, and so the seat had been comfortable, at least, but it squeaked with protest as she stretched her arms and legs out in front of herself. Elsewhere in the theater, other chairs were making similarly cranky sounds, as the other patrons got up to leave, as well.
Remaining seated for the moment, she glanced over to her compatriot in movie viewing, and smiled as she stretched. "That was cute," she decided, then laughed a little as she added, "Glad you made me make the time to see it before it was gone from theaters entirely."
Aristotle's Cave 3 was a decent, if small, establishment, showing movies that had been out for a little while for far cheaper than the other locations with less noisy seats. Good for people like Marcella who often wanted to see movies, but could not always let herself take a break from things long enough to sit through a movie.
Had she always been like that? Marcella glanced upwards momentarily, realizing that she had been to far fewer movies since finishing up at Crystal. She was not sure if she could blame it on Sovereign Heights, the hospital work, or her newfound night job as a senshi.
The brown-haired girl settled for just telling Evie, "Maybe we need to do this more often." Her old Crystal roommate had been about the only thing she found remotely enjoyable about the school. Evie had been one of the few who had seemed similarly frustrated with all the manners, and their shared love of film had brought them together. Marcella still found the other girl to be annoyingly energetic at times, but by the time they had both graduated Crystal, the brown-haired girl would not have wanted to be roommates with anyone else.

Evie let out a long, groaning "Murrrrr" As she stretched both arms up before bouncing to her feet. The movie was adorable. Not something she would've gone out on her own to see, but for the purposes of getting Marcella out and in front of a screen again? Definitely filled its need.
She loved this theater, mostly because it was the only one she could afford. She didn't mind if most of the movies had been out longer, or that she'd already seen most of them. she still enjoyed the experience, and moreso with her film buff in crime, Marcella.
Marcella was one of the few good memories she had from Crystal which she mostly only remembered as four years of resentment, teenage angst, and picking fights with the 'snobs'. But that was over, she was on to better and brighter horizons at DCU. Just... unfortunately those horizons had a severe Marcella deficit.
"That's what I've been saying!" She said, throwing her arms up at the 'we need to do this more' comment. Maybe she had been saying it less because, hey, she was busy, but she could've sworn she made some pestering Facebook comments at the very least.
Pushy, annoying, and energetic, that was definitely Evie, but she meant well, especially about this. She just wanted to spend more time with her friend. Of course, she didn't know about the secret senshi life, she just assumed Marcella was being eaten by school and hospital work.
"What should we do now?" She asked, bouncing down the aisle, "Get something to eat? Oh! Maybe we could see something else!"

Marcella had made an account on Facebook, primarily for Evie's sake, since there had been precious few other students from Crystal with whom she felt any particular need to keep in touch. But checking it was another story. There were just so many other things to occupy her time that she only remembered to check the page about once every other week. And the most recent visit had turned up about three such messages from Evie.
Honestly, the brown-haired girl had been like that even before she had been awakened as a senshi.
"I'll try to remember to check my Facebook more often," she replied as she stood up, feeling a touch sheepish. Marcella had missed her old friend, and felt bad that she had been so terrible about keeping in contact. "You can also text me, too, you know. I never bothered to link up my Facebook to my phone, because I really don't give a damn about all of my sister's stupid Farmville stuff, but I usually see texts right away."
She figured more time with Evie would start to make up for not seeing her in a while. And she was hungry, besides. "Sure, we can go get something to eat. I don't think I could sit through another movie right now." Marcella crossed her arms, rubbing her hands on the opposite forearms. "Little chilly in here, so, if nothing else, I need to warm up."
Marcella edged out of the row of seats and waited in the aisle for Evie to join her. "Anywhere in mind you want to go?" The brown-haired girl smiled. "My treat."

"You know you can block applications," Evie couldn't help but get that in. She loved facebook, but that was probably because of her weird need to just grab absolutely everybody together, even when they had absolutely no interest in various things she did with other friends.
She was definitely a child of the social networking world and god damn it, everyone be social with her.
She followed Marcella out of the theater, but when it came down to picking where to eat, she just flashed an awkward smile. "Uh, maybe you should pick," She warned. Usually the fact she was vegetarian went unmentioned in food conversations because it was the one thing Evelyn didn't like to be preachy about. After all, she failed in silence several times before getting into a good meal routine and found stuff she actually liked that she hadn't forbidden herself from.
It did, however, prompt her to pick a lot of healthier restaurants that usually didn't fly so well with guests not on a health kick or fans of, you know, flavor. She had become notorious among her friends for not being the best eatery picker.
"Unless you want to go to Panera Bread or something," She said, trying her best to think of places with a big enough variety to please both of them.

"That'd just under 'account settings' or whatever it's called?" the other girl asked to clarify. Relief was already visible in her eyes. "I think there are about six games that Julia plays, all the stinking time from her phone, and it tends to wipe away any actual information that might make it to my news feed thing. But thank you, I'll have to try that. See if I can actually use the site again."
She lifted her purse and walked up the aisle with Evie, digging her own phone out of her bag as she walked and switching the sound back on.
Marcella did not mind her friend's choice to be vegetarian, but, since they had not really done the whole eating out thing together in a while, restaurants that had wide options for Evie did not immediately spring to mind. One hand went to her mouth to squeeze her bottom lip as she pondered, but immediately latched onto the idea of Panera.
"Oh, sure, Panera is fine," she replied with a smile. Hazel eyes turned to her phone as she unlocked it, scanned a text message, rolled her eyes, then dropped the phone back into her purse. "I've heard their bread-bowl soup things are pretty good, but I haven't tried one yet. Usually I'm just there for breakfast." The girl grimaced slightly at the abrupt change from ice-cold air conditioning to toasty summer afternoon as they exited the theater. "It's nice and close, too, which is awesome."

"I think there's a little link near the invite, maybe, they change the format so much," Evie said flippantly, but she was confident she'd find it after searching the site specifically.
She had to stop for minute and adjust to the outdoor lighting temperature with a cringe, only continuing once she wasn't seeing spots anymore.
"Yeah same! But a few people at school were raving about it," That and she'd looked at mouthwatering pictures of food on their website several days ago that were suddenly springing to mind. "Ah, I'm suddenly starving now," She added moving along with much more enthusiasm.
The sooner they were seated the better and luckily for Evie it was close and she was unceremoniously tearing into roll she indulged in to hold her over until the sandwich she ordered arrived.
"Soooo, what have you been up to lately?" She pestered. "All work and no play for the aspiring doctor?"

Marcella's stomach grumbled in agreement with Evie, and she pretended not to have heard it. "Funny how you can forget you're hungry and then just remember all of a sudden like that." She pulled her sunglasses from her purse next and put them on; even though Panera was just at the other side of the shopping center, that was still an awful lot of very white sidewalk.
Fortunately, there was not a long wait, since it was long enough after the lunch rush. Marcella picked the lid off of her iced tea once they were seated, peeled open two packets of sugar for the drink, and set about stirring to get it all to dissolve.
"Pretty much," she replied blandly, then looked up at Evie and smiled. "I'm still working part-time at the hospital, because I'm taking a few classes this summer, and then in the fall, I'll be taking more classes and working part-time." She shrugged lightly. "I think there are some internships I can apply to this coming year, though, so I may be doing something a bit more exciting than wheeling beds and carts around next summer, at least."
She jabbed the straw at the stubborn sugar crystals in the bottom of her cup a few times, then resumed stirring. "How about you? How has your summer been going?"

Evie was happily munching on bread when Marcella said the word 'internships', and then the happy was replaced by a groan and a dramatic flop on the table. "Oh god, I need to find an internship," She lamented before supporting her chin in her hand.
"Well it hasn't been very fun. I distinctly remember having more free time my freshman year," She complained. "I just want to be done with the whole undergrad thing so badly."
She stabbed her straw through the ice in her glass to get it all the way to the bottom after a contents shift. "And of course my sister is absolutely intolerable," She added with a laugh. She complained about Dana so much it was almost like it completely circled back around annoying and back to semi-amusing running joke.

Marcella nodded in agreement, though her reasoning was different: "Yeah, I can't wait to get into med school so I can stop worrying about it. At least I only have one or two more general-ed required classes, so after this year, I won't have to waste time on rotting through comps and history with a whole lecture hall full of people who don't want to be there."
Dissolving sugar in cold tea took enough time that the brown-haired girl thought it safe to venture to try her bread-bowl soup, but a moment's stirring revealed that it was still quite hot inside. Marcella lifted a spoonful of vegetables and blew on it lightly, then asked her friend, "Where have you been looking for internships? Or do you have any ideas where you want to start?" She was fortunate in the sense that seeking internships in the medical profession meant she really just had to look at the hospital, herself.
She laughed at Evie's mention of her sister. How long had it been since she had heard complaints about Dana? "Oh, yeah," she added, making a show of rolling her eyes. "We've grown up a lot since the last time we hung out, but Julia and Dana-" Marcella shook her head. "There's just no helping little sisters."
