I'm not one to believe in superstitions. I still have trouble accepting my spiritual experiences.

But this whole mercury retrograde thing. Without any clue it started, poof, things aren't right. Not to say they're wrong, but not right. Every freaking time it happens, things aren't right. How the hell does that work? That the way we perceive the movement of a planet can affect our daily lives so strongly? It's not like it's actually going backwards, it's just how we view it. It makes no sense.

Then there's this whole faith thing. I've had experiences with a god, which I later looked up and discovered he told me stuff I never knew about... Even though I haven't actually interacted with him in a while, I still believe? I guess it's just odd for me... I was raised christian, and it never stuck. I never believed. It just wasn't real for me. And I don't understand how this is real. But how could I imagine things that are true that I didn't have any clue about?
And then I'm trying to figure out, what do you do once you find a god? He won't tell me what to do, I'm assuming I'm supposed to figure this part out on my own... I know you'll probably think I'm crazy (which I probably am), but it's Hades. I guess the question might be why him... when my question is why me. No matter how I go about it, I can't deny it's him. He's made that plenty obvious. But what now? There are no connections to any other deities in the pantheon, and no desire to set up altars for them... and it still makes no sense to me.

I don't really know what my question is... but help?

The mercury retrograde thing is really weird, because for the most part I don't put a great deal of store in astrology. But a few years ago I was having a hell of a ******** time making myself understood or understanding others. It went on for about a week and then I thought "lulz, I wonder if mercury is retrograde". And it was. We were smack in the middle of retrograde. Now mercury goes retrograde like three times a year, so there's still a chance it was coincidence, but It Makes You Think.

I like Hades. He was the first Greek god I met, and he was always very easy to get along with. He's a cthonic deity so ways of honouring him will be a little different to Olympian deities, I think, but I'm not sure about how those things go. I don't know how much he used to be honoured back in The Day either.

He hangs out with Hecate and Persephone, so if you wanted to make overtures to others, you'd start there.... or with his brothers Poseidon and Zeus. Remember you don't need to get along with every deity in the pantheon. Generally, forming a relationship with one deity will lead to you getting to know others connected to them, but not always. If you're happy honouring just him at the moment, it's okay to do that. If you're not at a place where you feel you can respectfully honour him - you're not sure what you're doing - then that's okay too.... read the lore, read other people's experiences coming to Greek polytheism (of whatever kind), etc.

There's an Orphic hymn to Pluto - I'm not sure if it's about Hades or Pluto (because it still appears to be Greek....? Not sure) or whether you consider the two the same entity. Theoi has some great info on him generally, on the existence of his cult and so on.

I've met Persephone, haven't met Hecate yet. I tried to talk to Zeus but didn't get much of a response, maybe went about it wrong...

I'm happy with just Hades. I don't really feel any need to talk to anyone else, but I would like to know what I'm supposed to do next with him. I could set up an altar, but I have no clue what I'd put on it. And everything I've read said to put it outside, because you don't want to invite death into your house... which I figure he's not death, he doesn't take anyone, that's someone else's job, so what's the problem.
And I'm not yet sure about the whole Pluto/Hades thing. From what I understand he was called both?

I'll look into the Theoi thing, since I have been having trouble finding much of anything on him, besides what he's already told me.

Just to add a bit of something here. Hades is definitely not Death itself. That is Thestalos if I remember and spelled that right. But I know he's not Death. Also Pluto I think is the Roman name for Hades, or I should say for the God they equated to Hades.

@Sang-He was laidback and easy to get along with? 0.0 Really?

Thanatos is death. You may recognise the word as a root of some English words like euthanasia.

Sure he was. I don't know why that should be so, perhaps he was just in that sort of mood. Perhaps I give the wrong impression by "laid back" - he was relaxed in himself.

Yeah, he's not scary and mean like I would've imagined him... Actually pretty nice. At first I found him kinda intimidating but I don't anymore. Almost gives me the impression of being like a father, but slightly more on the strict side.

Then I end up wondering... is he my patron? I've gotten that impression, but I don't know what it means still.

I still feel crazy for it all. xd

Edit: I think I've figured out how the mercury retrograde is affecting me. It complicates communication, right? My thoughts have been jumbled and my brain isn't as active. I'm usually thinking about something like 85% of the time, and right now I'm having long periods of absolutely nothing going on in my head. And once I do think, when I go to talk I lose what I was thinking of saying...
Still so silly, that the observation of a planet's movement could actually affect us..
