Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, scratch.

Dosari was patrolling the area around where his family made their home for the time being and had found himself a delightful patch of dried and dead plants to scratch his back in. By now they were so smooshed and crumpled that no one else could use them to scratch his back, but that was alright. He didn't expect anyone else to come around looking for a spot like this to scratch their back.

"Now if only it would rain," Dosari muttered to himself.

It hadn't rained for some time over the area they lived. The watering holes were slowly drying up and because of the greens dying off the herds happened to be moving on. That meant they would soon be moving along, which in turn meant that his sister would no longer know where they were located. He would have to go visit her, what with the birth of her children.

It still bothered him when he saw events unfold with his family. Since he found out about his older sister's existence, he'd seen flashes of younger cubs in purples and whites, and a bright red lioness who stalked great mountains. He figured they were also family, as he never saw anything but family.

How many children did his father have?

User Image Today was different than any other day, if for the simple fact that the red goddess had decided to stalk another place. The one she has inhabited was a ruin of broken and shredded vegetation, small, dead creatures mixed among the wilted greenery and it had begun to stink of rot... That was what had decided her, more than its lack of living things. She could care less these days about what moved around her, but the smells... they rode right over the Pain, wormed into it and some how became a part of it... So when it got to be too much, she moved on. Simple really.

Today was also different because, for once, Kiuma'azali didn't rage as she moved, but stalked with her head low and wings half furled, feathers rustling together with a dry sound. Extended claws cut into the earth and she delighted in the marks she left of her passage, as if they told a story to those who would come after her. Today was a day for new things, different things, and it seemed that even the Pain was different today... a bone-deep ache like that of old age and stiff joints, the fire of a body tearing itself apart. A far cry from the flash burn of yesterday, the stabbing, crippling pain of the past. Perhaps today was the day she would find something new, and she might even turn her claws from it, should it prove a distraction. But then again, maybe not.

A rustling caught her attention and her wings faded to mere shadows hovering about her back, as though cast by something else. She stalked toward the sound with a hunter's grace, as though she knew how to hunt to feed herself, when she never had a desire now to eat.

Dosari had not heard the goddess stalk up to him, but he felt an uneasiness settle into the area when she got close. He promptly stopped scratching his back and instead stayed low to the ground, although the plants he used to scratch himself gave absolutely no cover to the black and white male. Still, trying to conceal yourself was better than not trying.

He peered up from his place in the grass cautiously, but saw nothing. He did not know Kiuma'azali was behind him, and he dared not turn. If she hadn't seen him yet, than perhaps she would look over him. Still, his hackles stood on edge and his breathing became shallow and paced. This presence, Kiuma's presence, felt... unfriendly?

Do not look, Dosari repeated in his head, Do not look and you'll be fine.

The red goddess emerged from the grass and froze, staring down at the source of the noises she had been hearing. The only problem though... it wasn't a prey beast. It was, of all things, a young lion and a male at that.

For a moment, she shook all over with anger, her lips pulling back to bare long, sharp fangs. A hatred like fire burning up inside of her, engulfing her to the point that she actually recoiled, startled by the intensity of her reaction just to the fact that this youth was male. It was... illogical, but then... very little in her life was logical these days, not since the moment she had first appeared in this world, hurt and confused and so very angry...

Her reaction had set off her power, her aura of pain spreading out from her in a dark, seething mass of energy, washing over any living being unlucky enough to be within twenty feet of where she stood... which unfortunately included the male before her. Invisible, it was felt as white-hot fire through the blood, a wash of pain without a cause or source. Birds and rodents screamed and shrieked as they exploded from cover and scattered, desperately trying to escape from the pain they felt. Many fell over and thrashed helplessly, unable to discover the source of their pain... but almost as soon as it had come, the pain was gone as Kiuma realized what she was doing and suppressed her aura, releasing those caught in it to blissful peace inside their skins again. Many creatures lay dazed, panting from the frightening experience.

She needed to be more careful about her flares of temper and how it affected her power, though she wondered why she even cared. She was a goddess... mortals were little more than play-things, why should she care? But, oddly enough... she did. Standing still, the goddess cleared her throat with a rough sound, waiting to see if the wash of pain had knocked the child unconscious or not.
