She was not going to be a party crasher but Ebio had tried again and again to convince her. Oh so tiring of her much annoying 'Mother'- she finally decided to go. Being pretty-ied up, she was finally going and wasn't oh so happy about it. The celebration was beautiful, it was divine and amazing, but she wasn't a party girl. Sometimes, this pride was too happy for her and she found herself shying away from it. Rather, be alone and aid them from afar as a guard rather than a social bee.
The singing was high, and the dancing was joined with many, except her.. She found herself moving through the temples trying to hide away.. The day before, Ebio had made sure to treat her scars and it had been some miracle that most of her fur, if placed the right way would cover most of them. Finally, she looked like a normal lioness... struting her stuff like a gruff rogue more than the dancers of the party. Looking about the dark temples as the evening started to take in..
Tuaika didn't know what to do. He was still going over the news as he walked around the party, trying to put on a happy face, but thankfully everyone around him wasn't paying attention to him. He didn't know how convincing his fake smile was. Probably not very. His heart was still heavy over hearing the lose of his dear wife. Who would have thought that a normal hunting trip would go so wrong?
He wished he had gone instead of her, but his stupid meetings always had to come first. Maybe he should just run away. It'd be a lot easier to handle her loss. Not waking up in their den, and passing all their favorite spots would help bury the pain. But he couldn't just leave his family like that. After all, he still had a duty to fulfill. He sighed as he hid behind a pillar, not wanting to see any more smiling faces. He still wasn't ready to face everyone.
She slinked through the shadows as she felt the need to be in the darkness.. When she thought she was alone, she slowly started to lower her rump before the sound of someone coming made her turn her neck to the side to see over her shoulder. When she saw that cacading shadow s on the walls, she quickly moved in to the shadows of the temple, closer to the openning but not so close as to be noticed if one wasn't looking.. Even with her light pelt, the evening was making it easy to disappear in to them. Only the light crossed her golden eyes before disappearing completely. Lowering her body as she watched who had come up to follow her. HOPEFULLY not Ebio!
Tuaika was too distraught to even look to see someone else was close to him. He found himself sitting behind one of the column, looking down at the ground, and tracing out her name in the sands. He quickly swiped a paw across it, erasing it from the sands. He wasn't sure what he was going to do with himself. Maybe he should just dismiss himself from the party. He didn't feel much for celebrating right now.
When her ears picked up his paw sliding across the sands in the temple. Lowering her head as she slowly lifted it when she saw him wave his paw over the temple. The feeling he gave off made her suspect him but when she was about to step forward, she drew back only to watch. Examining his emotions, he was down for it being a party? Wait.. He looked semi familiar.. Shrugging as she slowly walking behind him.. Tilting her neck closer as her ears went back. "Not enjoying the party... are we?" Her voice was not all so girly, she was too rough to be gentile. Softly standing beside him..
He jumped lightly when he heard the voice, he wasn't expecting anyone to be out here away from the party. He looked over his shoulder, to the tan girl and gave a soft, fake, smile. "I haven't really in the mood to celebrate recently." He said as he looked from the party back to her, "What about you?" he asked, "What are you doing all the way out here?" He asked as he turned himself to face her, erasing the rest of her name in the sand with his tail.
"Putting more strain will make your face plaster like that.. and trying to hard makes you look desperate yea know." Shaking her head as she went to slowly sit. Lifting her head up with an inner strength. Everything she had lived up til now, made her who she was now... and inwardly strong and determined to fight for life and every ounce of it. Others in this pride didn't quite understand, look at Ebio? Shaking her head as she thought of her when she had just come her. Barely getting her paws wet with the idea of being accepted. "We're not talking about me are we... what seems to be bothering you." Looking at him with a fierceness but she was tamed and kind, yet straight to the point. "Obviously your here because you can't stand the crowd and you are pretty down." Shrugging.
He looked down when she called him out. He never knew anyone to be able to see through him so quickly, let alone so accurately.... except for Thwayya. He looked down, covering his eyes with his oversized mane. "I don't really want to talk about it." He said as he tried to fight back the images that flooded his mind. Images that he normally saw in his nightmares. The bloody mangled body of his wife, after the heard of water buffalo had fled to the horizon. "I.... I'm not quite ready to... to talk about it." He said with a slight nod, "But you are right..." He struggled to keep his body from shaking, to seem weak in front of this girl he had never met. The last thing she needed to see was a weak prince.
Looking like she had come back from day dreaming seriously. But her face had managed to stay stoic and cold for the most part.. it was just how she was no matter how happy Ebio tried to make her life, her past kept creeping up on her. "Well, clinging on to it will only will make it hurt worse. Just put it in to fuel to move forward... " Becoming strong was something something not just given but earned. "Pain can do two things. Roll over and die.. Or. Use it as determination." Huffing with that anger that he was showing his weak side, but everyone had to be soft at times. It still hurt. "And if you do let it kill you, then you are only called weak."
He sat still while she spoke, her words echoing in his mind as it flashed images of his lost love, each more painful than the last. He nodded softly, and took a deep breath, calming himself before he spoke. His voice came out soft, and shaky, unsure of what he should say, "I... I lost my wife in a hunting accident a few days ago..." He said, his voice sounded distant. Like it wasn't him speaking.
From facing him, when being so distant and quiet, she just starred examining all his features. She wasn't exactly his height but she was tall. When he spoke what was really wrong- she looked away and in to the path. "It's the destiny of some." She couldn't help but say extra soft. "Your loss must be hard. I'm ..." Sorry?, but it didn't quite come out. Staying quiet for the next couple of moments before she had recited almost an unlikely wise comment... Mixed with her own worries that he probably thought she was being nosey.
This pride was all kinds of levels of social that she couldn't bare to understand. "I bet.. knowing most of these lions,.... I probably.. never met her but.. If I would to say ... She wouldn't want you to get so down about it.. An old man once told me that “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” ( Quote by: — Dr. Seuss ) I don't.. know if that's right.. or if that will help but.. I'm sure that if she is anything like this pride has shown me.. Is that. Is that-.. life is worth living.."

As he listened to her, a strange feeling started to come over him. And he could tell that Thwayya was agreeing with what she was saying. She WAS right. And he could feel a soft smile form at the corners of her lips. "You are right." He said as he chuckled lightly, and looked up to the sky, "Every day brings new adventures, and new experiences with people we meet and one's loved ones."
"Ol' men sometimes can be wise." Shrugging, she was still not fully an adult but being an adolsent with the knowledge and expirence she had. It made her stronger.
Made her more mature which was why she could face such hardships. But a loved one dying? Although she hadn't ever been in love. Ever. She could imagen her mother or father dying and it would ripe it heart apart- but suriving was the most part.. "Which means.. it is always good to get a good cry out then move one. I know thats what helps me get through the day." Lifting her body up and slowly walking forward in to the cool breeze of the night. Shaking her head to it. "Good luck princy." Shrugging him off .. the party was the other way.. and she was certainly not going there.
He chuckled lightly, "Hey, I'm not that old." He said as he stood and shook himself off. But due to ridding himself of the sand, or negativity, he'll never know. What he did know, was that this was the start of a brand new day. He would never forget his late wife, but that didn't mean that he couldn't continue living his life to the fullest. “Thank you.”
