Genesis found herself walking through yet another nondescript forest, and sighed. Really, all these places were so much alike with their trees and scents. At first there had been a fascination of sorts, since she'd usually struck around the edges of forests as a kit, but that fascination had paled out over the course of a month.
She was here now though, so no use getting bummed over it. Gen had always been a wandered, going wherever her whims took her with only a minimum amount of purpose. Sometimes she'd settle in a place for a period of time, but it was inevitable that she'd start wandering again.
Her current goal was a mountain whoes base began in the forest. Already the ground had started sloping upward. The more Gen climbed the thinner the trees got and the colder the air became. By the end of the day there were nothing more than small groupings of pines and very sparse grass.
- THE SECOND DAY -
Gen shivered violently, pretty sure this was all some huge karma thing for being bored of forests. She hadn't know that there'd be this much snow up on top of the moutain though, or that it was so high! Perhaps she was able to handle the cold better than most, with her thick, long mane of fur, but even if she didn't die of exposure there was also the possiblity of starvation or exhaustion.
Night found the blood-red female curled up in a small cave, out of the wind and snow and curled so tightly around herself for warmth it was impossible to tell which end was her head and which was her tail.
- THE THIRD DAY -
Walking in deep snow took effort, but Gen believed she was getting used to it. Her belly ached with hunger and her mouth was dry with thirst, but she didn't dare stop to gather mouthfuls of snow in an attempt to quench it. She was almost positive she was near the top of the mountain. Even if the conditions were the same it would be easier to go downhill.
As the sun reached it's zenith Gen finally crested the top of the mountain. Not a whole lot impression the normally stoic female, but she felt her jaw dropping was rightly deserved in this case.
Of course there was some snow, but it was all around the top where Gen stood. She was looking down into a valley, a jade green wonder compared to the world of white and gray she'd been fighting through these last few days. Even from here she could smell things growing.
She would have liked to look longer, but her stomach chose that moment to remind her that she was in desperate need of food. Gen began a slow, cautious decent of the mountain. Ice and slippery slopes where only one of her worries; where green things flourished so usually did other creatures. She might be walking into something more than she could handle, but at this point there was no other option left to her.((I figured since Kryl's parents are both in Starborn, and she's a kit, that that's where she'd be. Hopefully this is okay, Gen intruding on their territory >.< ))

Krylaris had managed to escape her father, she was a sneaky little devil. But then again her father was always trying to smother her. Sometimes she wished that she wasn't the first born, she made a slight pouting face. Her parents expected her to look after her younger sister and brother, but it was just soooo boring. She didn't want to play with them everyday. She wanted to meet new foxes, go out and explore for once. And that was hard to do when her siblings were following her around.
So currently she was running through the trees with a wide grin on her face. It was so good to get away. if it wasn't her parents or her siblings around her it was the tribe's people. Kryl guessed that her family being the first to have babies was something special, she just didn't understand why at the moment.
After all the running she decided that it was time to rest, so she chose an old oak tree to lay under in the shade.

Gen had finally made it to the trees, where the ground was just a touch more level. She marveled at how warm this place was, especially in comparison with the hellish journey she had just endured. The scent of growing things was so delicious that she was almost willing to start munching on the plants around her with no regard to their original purpose.
For some reason that she couldn't quite fathom, hungry though she was, Gen felt an aversion to hunting. She passed a small family of rabbits, and felt no real urge to chase them. Huh. Maybe all that time up on the mountain made her weaker than she thought and her body was trying to convey this to her. Oh well, it would probably be best to start off with green foods again before moving up to meat.
She kept an eye to the skies while she searched. One thing about having a Daeva for a brother, and her brother in particular, she always considered winged foxes and their abilities when she assessed areas for threats. Thus far nothing, but Gen would bet her hair that something lived here.
Up ahead was what looked like a small grove of oak trees, no doubt born of a central oak that was the "mother" with saplings expanding their range as years passed. Perhaps she'd find some berry bushes or something else of the sort around their base. It would be a good place to start looking, at the least, so she steered her paws in that direction.

Footsteps starting drawing near her, and Kryl pouted. It was a heavier type of step so she figured it had to be one of her parents. How in the heck had they found her so soon? It wasn't fair. Krylaris had thought that she had escaped beautifully. She told mom that she was spending the day with her father, and vice versa with her father. The plan had been brilliant, but apparently her parents had uncovered her plan and had come to fetch her.
Standing up reluctantly she walked toward the footsteps, walking around a tree but stopped dead. That was not her mother. In fact it looked nothing like her. And it wasn't any of the tribe members either. it was highly unlikely for anyone to stumble into the tribe without being seen, but somehow this adult had.
"Who are you?"

Only because she had spent a good deal of her life under the guidance of her brother did Gen not flinch at the sound of an unexpected voice. She had hoped that, being closer to the edge of this green land, that the greater concentration of anything living would be towards the middle. She should have known better than to trust in luck.
She had just registered that the voice was the high, genderless kind that most young creatures possessed when it's owner came into view. A kit, so she had been correct in her thinking. A young female, by the tail, and... Oh no. Deities no. Those were wings...
Gen took her eyes off the kit to cast a quick look around her and up at the sky, trying to scoot a bit further under the cover of one of the trees. This answered her questions that foxes lived here, and it had to be Phims! There was at least one, anyway, for there was no chance the youngster had made it through all the snow on her own. Her parents had to be around here somewhere, and the last thing Gen needed was a confrontation from a worried parent when all she wanted to be right now was invisible.
But first she had to placate the young one. "I'm just a traveler hoping for some food and rest before I continue on with my journey over the mountain," she said in a cheery voice. It was the truth of course, but Gen certainly omitted a lot from it. Small children were generally into asking questions about hows and whys rather than motive. And of course Gen did intend to travel over the mountain, but she never said which side she was going towards. For all the kit knew, so close to the edge of the valley as they were, Gen was about to leave this place. Best she continue to think that, so that when she told her parents they would search this area for the stranger rather than where Gen would actually be.

"Oh. I was just curious because strangers don't normally make it through the snow into our valley unless they know Shambala is here." Krylaris looked at the stranger with intrigue. The fox had looked up for a second, and wondered what she was looking for. "I thought you were one of my parents....is that who you were looking for up in the sky?" She cocked her head to the side. "They are the only ones in Shambala that can fly...me and my brother and sister are too little to fly. That's what mom says at least. I think I am old enough to learn. I am the oldest kit, so I should be the first to fly."
"You said you were hungry yes?" Kryl looked at the vixen, "There is a bush of blueberries over there." She pointed with her paw. "And you don't have to worry about my parents. No violence is allowed while in Shambala so you don't have to worry about them hurting you. Oh. But so you know, that means that whilst your in the boundary of the city, there is no killing or violence allowed. So if you want to hunt it has to be outside the boundary."

Gen stared at the kit in a startled way. She stared for so long that it was on the borderline of being rude before she finally dropped her gaze. To give her thoughts time to settle and come up with a reply for the kit, she moved to the bush that had been indicated. It was indeed blueberries, luckily enough, one of the few berry plants with no thorns to guard its fruit.
She'd eaten roughly a pawful of the ripest ones she could find when she turned to look at the kit. "It is not so much violence I worry over," she finally responded, "for I am well-able to look after myself. Perhaps it is that I have a dislike of being seen when I do not wish to be." She smiled wanly at the kit. "Not very practical, I suppose, but I was raised by a brother with a dislike of socializing."
Gen left it at that for now, while mulling over everything else the kit had told her. Good to know there were only two Phims here, if she wanted to slip out unseen, but still a confrontation she'd rather avoid. Especially if they found her around the little one.

"Really?" Kryl looked at the female weirdly, "My brother is a momma's boy..." She shrugged her shoulders back, "So i wouldn't know about that really." Krylaris laid back under the shade of the tree and watched the vixen. It was rare for her to meet someone that didn't belong to the tribe, in fact this was the first time she had ever found someone that wandered into the forest. "Are you scared of my parents?"
The tiny kit cocked her head to the side and rested it on her front paws. It was the only thing that would make sense to her little kit mind. The vixen must be afraid of her parents for some reason that didn't make sense to her. Momma and Papa would never do anything to hurt her, well unless the vixen broke the law and harmed a life. But the pretty vixen had said that she didn't worry about the violence. So then what did that mean?

Gen sighed and turned back to the bush, absentmindedly plucking a few more berries and laying them in a neat pile on the ground beside her. How did she explain herself to a kit who probably wouldn't understand?
She turned, flipping her long hair away from her face with a single toss of her head, and gave it her best.
"I'm not afraid," she said first, to put that thought to rest. Her brow creased and eyebrows moved closer together as she frowned, trying to think of what words she wanted to use. "It's not so much that I'm scared of meeting others. I'm not always a loner, and I'm strong enough to look after myself if the company I come across is...less than pleasant."
Now was the part that she wasn't sure if the kit would understand. "It's just, I've always stood alone before now. My brother looked after me as a kit, but I took care of myself a good deal of the time. We're both very self-reliant people, my brother and I. We stay under the radar, and we're just as reluctant to accept help from others when we are weakened as we are wary of those who take advantage."
She tilted her head, smiling a little. "In short, we're both rock-headed, proud fools."

"Oh...." Kryl accepted what she said without an argument. Well then..." She shrugged her shoulders back, "If you prefer to be alone then I should probably get back to the tribe." She nodded her head, "Mama or Papa might come looking me soon....or any number of the clans people." She sighed heavily, "Sometimes leaving in a tribe is such a bother." She shook her head. "Not a moment of solitude...even in this land that is so isolated."
The little kit stood up and turned to head back to the tribe, "It was nice to meet you vixen." She smiled at her friendly, "Maybe I will see you again." She bounded off into the forest.

((*nods* Sounds good, though neither gave each other their names in their previous interactions. You don't have to change your last post, but when they meet as adults they'll have to give their names.))Gen watched as the small kit bounded off. Odd, why was she smiling? ((She's referring to herself smiling, not Kryl.)) It wasn't like she hadn't come across other kits before in her travels, though admitedly they were far fewer than the adults she came across. How very odd indeed...
Gen tried to push it from her mind for the moment. She ate the rest of the blueberries she'd plucked from the tree, and started looking for a place that was more secure to rest in and more food. It should only take her a few days to get out of this place, and hopefully it would go undetected.
- TIME SKIP -
Genesis stood on top of the mountain, looking down at the valley below. Snow capped her crimson shoulders like a cape. It had been several months since she'd last come across this particular valley. The memories swam before her eyes.
The little colorful kit she remember vividly. After that she only knew she'd gotten out of the valley after traveling nonstop for a little over two days. Despite the constant travel the valley was good for recovering, and she'd made it down the mountain with a lot less trouble than she'd had getting up.
Gen had spent her time until now exploring the land on the other side of the mountain range, but the last week or so she'd been feeling like it was time to head back and visit her brother. Just so he didn't have to hunt her down and scold her.
Prepared this time, Gen hadn't had nearly so much trouble climbing the mountain this time. Now she had to decend and cross the valley again. As she started picking her way down the rocks, Gen couldn't help but wonder whatever had happened to that kit whoes name she didn't even know.

Krylaris flew over the forest, not really sure of where she was going but the sensation of the wind under her was a comfort. Growing up in Shambala could be slightly stressful, something that her fellow tribesman thought was an oxymoron. Needless to say she did not share the same sentiment. Sighing heavily as she shifted her position so that she was flying on her back looking up at the clouds. Always looking so fluffy in the air, but she knew they were anything but. Still, it was nice to think that they might be.
Finally after an hour of flying she decided that she was going to land and find something to hunt. Another difference from her clansmen, she loved meat. And since their deity didn't allow them to kill in his territory she was often outside the boundary.

Gen was armed with knowledge this time, and knew the valley held Phims. Two adults at least, though chances were that little kit had grown as well. She'd also mentioned something about a brother, so she had to assume there were four Phims in the sky, and possibly more. After all the clan in this valley could have added more members.
While she'd been moving down the rocks she'd kept an eye on the sky, for this was the most exposed that she'd be. Especially with her colors. She'd hoped that she could make it at least to the treeline without spotting any dots in the sky, but...
Gen's brow furrowed in a frown at the speck she was seeing now. There was no guarantee it was a Phim, but she wouldn't know until it got closer. By the time she was sure it would be too late though, she'd have been spotted. Going by the rule of "better safe than sorry", Gen found a niche in the rocks and wiggled in, trying to scoop dust and small rocks on her back to disguise her crimson fur.

Was it just her imagination or was there a red fox down there. Kryl blinked and the fur was gone. Was it her mind playing tricks on her? Logically she had to admit that since she had been flying for many hours without resting that she could have over exerted herself and therefore was suffering from a delusion. But something about the fur had struck her as familiar. Something that she had seen before.
"Hm." Deciding that as a tribesman of the Starborn tribe, albeit maybe temporary one, it was her duty to investigate the incident. Swooping lower, she circled back to the clearing and landed on a boulder. She looked around the area, lifting her muzzle in the air and taking a big whiff.

Gen wanted to start cursing, but that would most definitely give away her position so she’d have to just hold it in this time. This was probably payback for her amazing luck crossing this valley the first time, because after all the area around the tops of the mountains that made up the valley walls was pretty visible. And if that kit had told that she’d seen Gen that one time, they probably had their fliers out on patrol more often. Even they truly were a peaceful tribe, like the kit had said, it stood to reason that not everyone going through their territory would be and they’d need to at least keep an eye on those in the borders.
Gen held perfectly still, not even daring to move her head to look up. If she was lucky beyond all reckoning, the Phim would just fly away and Gen could hurry her a** into shelter before reinforcements were brought in!
