Zayford was placing black stones down, working really hard to charge each stone, making him very tired, but the pay off would be worth it. He loved watching the Soquili startle when they hit a stone. He had to concentrate hard just to fill one stone, so him doing four stones was going to take some time. He tried to charge faster, but if he did that, he might loose his concentration and it would be all wasted energy.
He had not been paying attention, he knew a few soquili had passed him, even yelled at him to get out of the way, but this was going to be worth all the energy for this. He finished the first stone, then moved to the second, then started concentrating again, he was starting to get a head ache, but again, it was very worth the end, even if he couldn't run away for awhile, getting his butt kicked wasn't so bad anyways. He stayed concentrating on the energy being transferred into the stone.

 Unlike the mischievous Soquili she was about to meet by happy chance, Flickerfoot wasn't trying to mask any actions or put forth any energy, save that of the happy abandonment that comes from a day of play. Her long, gossamer wings were never still; one minute flapping lazily as she trotted along the path, the next humming cheerily as she shrunk down to the size of a butterfly to stick her entire face into a particularly bright and fragrant flower that had nodded its head to her invitingly. Her wispy mane soon became gaily speckled with pollen as she visited flower after flower, changing back and forth until at times she found herself momentarily forgetting what size she currently was.
This state of mind almost caused her to start as she spotted another Soquili further down the path. She stopped and tilted her head with interest as the figure moved about, black coat gleaming with lovely colors, like a rainbow appearing among cranky-looking storm clouds. It was apparently doing something interesting with the rocks that spotted the path, and so far the head remained down, it's owner seemingly oblivious to the eyes that watched it. Grinning with a sudden burst of childish mischief, Flickerfoot willed herself down to butterfly size, fluttering over to the now-looming form until she was right beside the other's ear. Settling her wings into a quiet and gentle rhythm, she took a deep breath into her tiny lungs and shouted, "BOO!" (Think Bambi when he yelled 'Bird!') xd

When Zayford heard this boo, he screamed so loud, and was startled so much he shocked he pushed so much energy out that he nearly passed out. He landed on the two rocks he had charged and got shocked. He looked around and couldn't see anyone anywhere except for some moth like thing fluttering around. He was gonna squish it, but the more he looked at it, the prettier it got, then realized it was a Soquili.
"You scared the heck outta me." He couldn't be sure it was male or female so he just stayed calm, if it turned out to be a male, he would chase after it, but he wasn't sure what the original size was, so he also waited to see if "He" would grow really big. He had heard about these kinds of soquili, but most of it was that they were really snobby. He wouldn't judge just yet. "What is your true size?" He asked it.

Whatever sort of reaction Flickerfoot had been expecting from her moment of mischief, THIS certainly hadn't been it! She watched with astonishment as the larger Soquili screamed as though he had gotten a bee stuck in his ear and then landing on two of the rocks that he (judging by the yell) had been so interested in. She almost felt the tiny jolt of electricity that popped and crackled in the air and caused her little wings to shiver with the energy. Just what sort of rocks had THOSE been?
She was about to apologize when the other's stare of realization caused her to smile. Had he not realized she was a Soquili? How many butterflies flew around yelling BOO! in others' ears? Or maybe he just hadn't ever seen one like her before? Grinning at the other's question, she closed her eyes in concentration and didn't open them again until she was of her proper size, about the size of a pony. "Sorry if I made you scream and land on the lightning-rocks; I was only playing." She scuffed the ground a little sheepishly before tossing her mane and offering a friendly smile. "I'm Flickerfoot; what's YOUR name?"

Zayford now realized it was now a beautiful mare, his anger melted away. "My name is Zayford, and that's a beautiful name to go with a beautiful mare. So you like to play tricks too? i get into alot of trouble when I trick people into stepping on the stones, but it's always worth it, even if they rough me up, i still can see their faces in shock....probably like mine but less shock. I was just concentrating really hard, so I really jumped...sorry"
He felt like a big wussy now for jumping and falling then getting shocked by his own stones. He hoped she didn't think he was a big loser. "I like your wings." Ughh, how lame saying oh i like your wings!! LAME. It's not like she were his same species and so it didn't matter if she ever did like him, it was impossible. But he still had the right to flirt with every beautiful mare.

Laughing a little, Flickerfoot tossed her head cheerfully. "I DO like to play tricks, but not ones that put lightning into rocks. THAT looks kind of like it hurts, and I don't want to hurt anyone when it's all in fun!" She was glad that she DID like to play more harmless tricks; she sure didn't like the idea of her being 'roughed up.' Anyone doing that would be sure to go for her beautiful wings, and if those were ever damaged, she wouldn't be able to fly. The thought of her not being able to dance about with the breezes and reach the insides of flowers was sad enough to moisten her eyes.
But quick as a wink, the sadness vanished and she giggled anew at Zayford. "Thank you! I like your colors; just like a rainbow!" She tilted her head as she noticed the two pairs of smaller wings that her new friend had. "Can you fly with your wings?" She didn't ask out of superiority of her own wings, vast against her frame, but she did find herself wondering if they would beat in complete sync with each other if they DID make the other airborne. How fun it would be to have someone to fly with!

Zayford smiled. "It's more like a static shock then lightning, it really doesn't hurt, more of a WHAT JUST HAPPENED???" He flapped the wings on his head. "No, my frame is too heave to fly, and my wings are way too small, though I have always wanted to fly, it looks like so much fun. And you look very pretty flying, those wings suit you, you must be as heavy as a feather." He giggled then sighed. Yet another mare who was not his species.....it was really lonely having no one.
"So, wow you can change you size, that is a very cool power to have, and I'm guessing you eat pollen, what does that stuff taste like??" He sometimes ate rodents, but he didn't want to gross her out. So he wouldn't mention he ate lil creatures. He mostly ate plants anyways, it was only a rare thing for him to eat meat.

"Ohh, you mean like that funny buzz that furry creatures get when the weather gets really hot?" She had seen such strange happening before; it wreaked havoc with Soquili manes and tails, and sometimes was strong enough to cause a pop that made them stamp their hooves in alarm. She had had the misfortune of being small when such a jolt happened to a Soquili sniffing the same flower patch she had been sipping nectar from; it had sounded like a thunderclap and had knocked her right out of the flower she had been drinking from.
She giggled and ventured a friendly and somewhat hard bump with her shoulder. "You silly! Feathers aren't heavy at all!" She nodded vigorously. "I can change size, but only for a little while at a time, enough to go for a short fly and even drink from the flowers. And it's so......light and sweet and nice." She honestly hadn't given much thought to describe the nectar she loved to drink; she felt it was like describing a ripe, juicy apple to someone who had never tasted one; how can you tell them it tastes like an apple when they don't even know what apple tastes like? "I guess maybe it's like.......sweet water juice?" She wrinkled her nose in mild irritation; describing stuff was hard!

"Oh, I wish there was a big enough flower for me to drink out of." He thought for a second. "Oh there is, I forget what it's called, but when it blooms, it smells like rotting flesh. Not even going to attempt that one, but it blooms like once every so years." He nodded. "Yea, that's what my sparks do, but i make them without rubbing things together, but I need to concentrate hard on doing it, especially when you have used it alot that day."
"So, what is such a beautiful mare doing around here? You just came around drinking flowers? I don't normally come here, because alot of males come around here, and they get really angry when I shock them. I just can't help from laughing, because they are so tall and strong looking, but when they get shocked they get scared and it's just funny."

"Like w-what?" Flickerfoot blinked in shock and shied backwards a tiny bit, not from Zayford himself, but in an absurd sort of way, trying to back away from the very thought of a flower that smelled of dead things. If the petals smelled like THAT, how much worse would this flower's nectar be? "Gross!" she whinnied a bit shrilly as she exclaimed. "I'm glad it doesn't bloom very often then; a flower that smelled like gross, dead stuff is gross!"
Quick as a wink, the alarm was gone, and like a butterfly happily darting to the next flower, Flickerfoot's mind flittered right into the next subject. "I like to fly around in the forest; there are so many wonderful flowers to taste, and sometimes I like to play tag with the dragonflies. Most bugs are really nice except the stingy ones, and if you make lots of bug friends, they can let me know when they see any birds that might mistake me for a REAL butterfly." She tiled her head at Zayford and blinked. "If they get angry when you shock them, maybe you shouldn't shock them. What if they ever get mad enough to hurt you?"

"Oh they have hurt me, I just find the face they make is worth it, there isn't alot that makes me smile, I'm really kind of lonely" He looked away embarrassed. His ears then flicker as a thought popped into his head. "Do you make friends with alot, because insects don't last very long, and I agree, the stingy ones are very nasty."
He then thought about some nasty bugs he had seen. "Have you ever met a bot fly? ugh stay away from them, also there are some flies that lay their eggs inside caterpillars and ants, they slowly get eaten aline and I would just be so upset if they did that to beautiful butterflies, like, they might mistaken you! Please be careful! I have seen a few Soquili with bot flies in their sides, they grow so big, then they i think, fall out and bury themselves. But I heard you can feel them eating you." He now started to get worried flapping his wings on his head. He didn't want to scare her, but he was scared for her.

"Aww." Despite the thought that the other would be better off not playing tricks to get attention, Flickerfoot felt sorry for her new friend. Maybe he just didn't know about any other way to get people to notice him. She knew how hard it could be for others to notice her when she was the size of a butterfly, but she could always change back if she wanted. Zayford didn't have that choice. "Maybe, since you're smaller than they are, you can run into small hiding places where they can't reach you."
She smiled and tossed her head a little. "I know they don't last long, but then I never run out of new friends to make, so it's okay." She wrinkled her nose and snorted. "Most of the flies I see stay away; they're not interested in something like me. And when you're small like they are, their buzzing can get really loud, so I can hardly talk to them at all!" She didn't find herself too worried about becoming fly-food; she always changed back to her regular size before going to sleep, and any silly fly would undoubtedly seek out a caterpillar or an ant instead of something big like her.....well, big to them, at least.
