I know it's fairly bad idea to cut and paste random things from random cultures/faiths and and pretty much have zero regard for the cultures and the deities that are part of that culture. One thing I am curious about is what to do if a symbol or aspect spans a large number of cultures. For instance, it recently dawned on me that the six pointed star can be found in various different cultures. If someone wanted to incorporate the six pointed star into their path, and because it isn't linked to only one culture or deity, would it be harmless? I know this applies to a lot of different symbols and beliefs, but where does one draw the line and decide that the symbol or practice is essentially free game?

I do that kind of thing by making a distinction between the different variations an I only use stuff from the ones that say it's ok to use it- or force it on you.
