╫Background Information╫
Born in the desert land of Merseyr, Dekker learned to rely on his speed and talents for shooting once he completed his training. His father was a legend in his time, and hand crafted specialized guns to give himself a greater advantage over his enemies.
Unfortunately, it couldn't save him forever. He was seriously injured in the final battle of a brutal campaign, and on his deathbed, he gave his weapons to his son Dekker.
Dekker himself prefers the company of people at times, but he also enjoys his time alone. The rebuilding of the kingdom did not change his way of life much, and his passion for wandering around, seeing all there is to see, and killing those who threaten others. He is known in some places for his deeds, and others for his skill at trade or creating ammunition for other gunslingers.
His life took a momentous turn one fine day, when he was wandering in the deep forests, he found a lake, and decided to stop dealing out justice, and recharge himself. He set up camp, and decided to stay for a few days.
Those few days turned into several weeks, where he indulged his lighter side, hunting, fishing, and relaxing the days away.
One day, as he was just getting back to his camp, he noticed a nobleman with a small entourage, setting up camp. He approached as friendly, and soon learned the nobleman was none other then Prince Albryth of Kaeheer, himself a gunslinger!
Over the course of about two weeks, as long as the Prince could spare from his duties for time alone, they became fast friends, teaching each other about hunting, fishing tips, and playing near endless rounds of cards or dice. The two parted ways as good friends, with the promise of meeting when Dekker visited the Fortress Castle someday.
About half a year passed before Dekker finally made his way there for longer then a few hours, like he had over last several months. The two made plans to go back to the same spot they had met at, and take some time off for themselves.
Things couldn't have gone better. It was good for the two to get away again, one from the pressures of ruling, the other from the burden of protecting the innocent, which wore him down hard at times. Both of them just got burned out, and a few weeks off wouldn't make any difference in the grand scheme of things. They continued this new tradition for about two years, until they met for one last time before Dekker was to head to the Wasteland, hot on the trailof a dangerous outlaw leader.
Fate, it seemed, was not without a cruel sense of humor. When they were packing up to return, Dekker,Albryth, and the small entourage of serfs were attacked by bandits and thieves, who had been camping nearby as well, hiding from the law. Everyone was killed, save for Dekker and Albryth, though the prince was fatally wounded.
With his time growing short, the Prince wrote a short letter for Dekker to show to anyone that challenged him, and gave him his signet ring to show his new authority. One of Dekker's closest friends, he knew the man was capable of taking over for him.
Overcome by grief as he took the body back to the Fortress Castle, Dekker told the story to the Captain of the Guard, who had come to know him over the past two and a half years, and left the body of his friend with the Guards, and took off.
He stayed away for a full month, mourning his friend. When he realized the full burden that had been put upon him, he returned to the city. He would take over where his friend had left off, and honor his memory with his actions and words.
