wahmbulance The Ignore List wahmbulance

Pro-tips
There is no limit to the number of people you can ignore. (It used to be 500 but they have since removed the cap.)
Ignoring someone does not mean they can't see your posts or threads.
Ignoring someone means they cannot post in your threads or message you.
You will also not see their posts in a thread--except in the quick review.
You will however see the threads they make.
If you don't want to see the threads they make, may I recommend downloading the "Better Ignore" feature from the GES made by Keist and Highpass.

Related Rules
If someone has you ignored...
>DO NOT attempt to contact them either through friends, strangers, or a secondary account. This will land YOU in trouble.
If you ignore someone...
>And they continue to harass you or try to contact you through other people or secondary accounts, you may file a harassment report* (located here).

The Report System
The report system was put in place so that users can help the moderators and staff of Gaia find rule breakers.
It is your duty as a Gaian to use the report system to report rule breakers.

wahmbulance If you get a PM saying that you've been reported and it asks for your password to "check things out" (or for any other reason)--DO NOT GIVE IT OUT. It is a scam! Real Gaia staff will NEVER ask you for your password.

How do you report?
  • For posts in the regular forums, like the chatterbox for example, reporting is easy. For every post and every thread there is a handy dandy report button. Click it and then select the reason for reporting.
  • For scams, you should file a report here.
  • If you've been hacked, file a report here.
  • If you need to report something in your comments, there's a link (not a button) next to every comment.
  • If you need to report a PM, there is also a button to report a PM.
  • In towns and all other "worlds" of Gaia, there is a button on the toolbar for reporting.
  • If you need to report someone's signature, just report a post they've made and make sure to mark down that you're reporting their signature content.
  • When in doubt, ask the Q&A or an Online Moderator.

Now you may be wondering...
What is a "hacking"?
  • Hacking, as most computer savvy people know, is brute forcing your way into a system for curiosity or malicious purposes.
  • Gaia defines hacking as: "Hacking, on Gaia Online, refers to the unauthorized access of an account by someone other than the account owner. In most typical hacking cases, an unauthorized person enters an account which does not belong to him or her and takes items or gold from the account, often changing the account information so that the original owner can no longer access his or her account."

What is a "scam"?
  • Scam: noun - A dishonest scheme; a fraud.
  • Gaia defines a scam as: "Scamming is when another member of Gaia takes your gold or items, or tries to take your gold or items, by making false promises of giving you rare items, get-rich-quick schemes, or by any other deceptive means. Scamming generally involves a situation in which two members of Gaia make an arrangement to trade gold, items, or a Gaia approved service (e.g. avatar art commission) with each other and then one of the parties involved in the arrangement fails to live up to his or her promise of an exchange."

Ok...so besides hacking and scamming...what else should I report? Keep reading for this answer and more!

wahmbulance Keep in mind you should never ever quote ToS Violating material, doing so can land YOU in trouble!

wahmbulance Moderators wahmbulance

When to PM a Moderator:
  • There is a very persistent porn/gore/ect troll.
  • You aren't completely sure if an image or video you want to post follows Gaia's guidelines. (Though general rule of thumb is, if its questionable, don't post it.)

Pretty much all other concerns can be addressed in the Q&A forum if you can't find your answer in this guild.

How To Find An Online Moderator:
1. Go to the forum you think is most relevant to your concern (like if there is a porn troll posting stuff in the CB, you would find a CB moderator).
2. Locate what looks like:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
3. Find an online moderator and PM them your concern.

Tips for Dealing With Moderators
  • Be polite! No one likes dealing with an a*****e, and they will be less likely to go out of their way for you if you treat them like dirt.
  • Don't PM a bunch of them. PM one and be patient!

& Don't forget! They're people too & have lives away from the computer just like you and me.
