Another day at the maul... This time for something to take scratches out of her hardwood floor that was so cleverly hidden by the out of place rug and boxes. Shouldn't be too hard. Quick trip in and out. It wasn't like Riyo ENJOYED shopping. If anything she enjoyed having the money to prove she could. But oh well.
There were some things you couldn't skimp on, and a fabulous wood floor was one of them. It was an odd obsession, but the calming sight of wood decor mingled with different shades of red helped to put her mind at ease.
Scratches didn't.
Glancing at the map, Riyo spent a moment trying to figure out what the best store would be to find something. Magical or practical? Hell, it didn't matter. They were on the same floor.
Usually she'd be more inclined to take the stairs and not be lazy about it... But the cat demon had already been by this place fairly recently, so today was a fine one to take the elevator... Or so she thought.
"Third floor it is then.." Riyo mumbled to herself as she stepped in, pushing a button and waiting to reach her destination.

It wasn't too often that Shun went to the maul, but there were times where he needed to pick up some stuff. Such was today, where he needed an extra shirt as well as a few more lightbulbs for his room. One of his lamps had gone out and he realized that he didn't have any spare bulbs around.
Having gotten the former, he was on his way to get the second thing on his list.
As usual, he didn't really pay much attention to the other patrons of the maul, even if the little miced tea on his shoulder took an interest in just about everyone around. At least the little guy knew better than to try and interact with everyone while they were out here.
At one particular floor, Shun was glancing at the mouse on his shoulder, missing who had gotten off and on at the time. It generally never mattered. Though, when he looked ahead again, he noticed that someone rather familiar had come aboard. It was the cat demon that he and Mitsu had run into a few time. Frowning at the sight of her, he just glanced away. Since they were on the elevator, they weren't likely to be so close to one another for long.

Riyo didn't say a word to Shun as he got on. At first, she stared in disbelief, which turned into frustration, and then pretending he wasn't there. She figured if he wasn't going to say anything, Riyo would do him the same favor.
Two more floors... Two more. Yes, there went floor two, then...
A sudden stop in motion made her tail twitch nervously, though she didn't lose balance. "... That's not supposed to happen..." The feline couldn't hold herself back from saying... Unless there was a floor 2 and 1/2 for gnomes... Which she doubted since the little error light was flashing on the button panel.
It was then Riyo realized just how shitty her luck was. Of all the people that could've walked into the elevator, it had to be Shun. Because Riyo didn't just NOT like Shun... She hated him.
However, there was one thing to be grateful for. "At least you're not Deacon.." She mumbled under her breath and sighed, examining the button panel for something to alert the ******** responsible for the elevators that they were there.

Shun was fairly glad that Riyo wasn't going to be saying anything. Before too long one or the other will get off and they'll just continue their day normally. However, the elevator had decided to abruptly stop between floors. Narrowing his eyes, he stared hard at the panel that dictated what floors the elevator was on at the moment, but the thing didn't seem to be willing to move.
Well great.
If this thing had been made of glass, he could have easily teleported his way out. However, this wasn't the case and the chances of him miscalculating where things were and getting himself in the middle of some object or the floor itself were too great.
Being in an enclosed area like this, it wasn't hard to hear the mumbled words. Deacon? That name sounded familiar.
Oh right.
"I'd like to think I have nothing to do with that whiny a** loudmouth," he mumbled under his own breath while leaning against the wall of the elevator.
Bent-Tail tilted his head curiously as the box they were in stopped moving. That didn't seem to be normal. That aside, it seemed like his master knew this other girl. She was a feline, but that didn't scare him at all. Sniffing the air towards her, he tried to wave to her to see if he could get her attention. It was hard to say if this was a nice lady or not, but he was willing to find out!

"Well, would you look at that. One thing we have in common. Maybe if we try really hard, we'll be able to ride the magical unicorn of friendship out of this hell hole!" Riyo's words seethed with sarcasm, shooting the small mouse a glare but saying nothing to it.
Flipping open a panel, Riyo managed to locate the emergency phone. "Here we are." She imagined their problems would be solved with a quick call. Picking up the receiver, she listened to the ring and waited patiently for someone to answer.
"Uh... H-hello?" called a nervous voice from the other line.
"The elevator stopped. Get us the ******** out of here." No beating around the bush. She didn't have time for this.
"Oh my. Um... Well, it's a funny s-"
"I'm not interested in humor. You're going to tell me it won't be instantly fixed. How long?"
"... About an hour?" The creature replied with a squeak, not taking the feline's serious and commanding tone very well.
An hour... Could they even survive that long?

Merely scoffing as a response to the girl, Shun glanced away, already irritated by a fair amount.
Seeing the glare, Bent-Tail made a small, sad, squeak, recoiling back some. His ears lowered and he tilted his head in confusion. Why did the cat lady look at him like that? Girls almost never glared at him! Confused, he looked over over at Shun, wondering if he did something wrong.
"Don't pay attention to her," mumbled the Reaper to his pet, noticing his confusion.
Hearing the operator, he glanced over to where Riyo stood, interested in how long this would take before they got moving again. Looking incredibly displeased with the answer, he narrowed his eyes.
"An hour? Seriously?" he hissed.

Riyo's lips curled at the answer. Instead of answering back, however, she simply hung up the phone... A bit angrily.
"Alright. Here's the plan. You take that corner, I'll take this one. We'll stay in our respective corners until this damn metal box starts moving again." And hopefully not say a word to each other.
Huffing, the feline made her home in the corner she'd specified, folding her arms in front of her and staring at the poorly kept walls.

The mouse flinched a bit at the slamming of the phone. There was a lot of tension in this metal box.
"Hmph," Shun huffed in response to the girl. That was perfectly fine with him. There were no qualms in limiting their interaction as far as he was concerned.
Unfortunately though, Bent-Tail wasn't too sure about all of this. He gave a soft squeak before jumping down from the Reaper's shoulder and making his way towards the bakeneko in the elevator.
"Bent," the Reaper hissed to call him back. The mouse paused at hearing his name. Turning back at the guy, he tilted his head a bit, hesitating, but then turned back towards Riyo and creeped a little closer. He was wary of her because of the glare, but... he was trying to see if she'd warm up at all. It was possible right?

The simple answer was: No.
As the mouse approached, Riyo's red eyes grew more intense with disapproval. "As a child, I ate mice." She warned. Though it had only been a few and that was because after the maids either quit or were fired, she found herself going hungry every couple of days. The feline imagined the little nergal mouse wouldn't taste too great, considering there was probably more bone than meat there.
Grimacing, the feline took off her hat and sat it next to her on the ground. "Play with that."
No, she didn't mean the hat... She meant the two lens covered eyes now popping out of it.

Bent-Tail froze at those words, staring up at Riyo with his ears flattened back. Sitting on his haunches, he looked a little nervous, squeaking very softly. He also looked a little... dejected if that was even possible. The little guy didn't understand why she seemed to have problems with him. Normally his charms got to girls. Maybe it was because she was a cat? That didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to him though.
Tilting his head, he stared at the hat and the eyes. He didn't really want to play with that. The mouse was hoping he could get some pettings from this new person. It seemed that wouldn't be happening though.
Narrowing his eyes at the girl's warning, Shun watched her carefully, almost daring her to try and hurt his mouse.
"Bent-Tail. Get back here," he said firmly. This caught the miced tea's attention, though he didn't move from his position just yet.

Riyo couldn't lie to herself, she sort of liked cute things... But not when they belonged to a certain reaper that made her skin crawl. It wasn't the mouses fault, and she knew it. But there had to be a point where she drew the line and put her serious face on.
As the mouse stood still, Felix's head slowly emerged from the hat, curiously looking at the similarly colored mouse on the floor. Lifting his wings out of the confines of the hat, the hazcat removed one paw to place on the ground, then the other and finally the back two. Small for a cat, but the nergal feline still towered over the mouse, his tail swaying back and fourth with interest.

Spotting some more movement, Bent-Tail turned to see the hazcat there all of the sudden. Tilting his head, he remained where he was, unsure what this feline was like. Maybe it was better than its owner, but he couldn't be certain.
A little cautiously, he sniffed towards the larger creature.
Seeing Felix emerge, Shun's eyes narrowed a little more. He recalled seeing this cat and it seemed friendly enough. It certainly was more tolerable to him than its owner. Unlike Riyo, he wasn't about to take his irritation of her onto the creature. However, he was always a little wary of felines when it came to his little rodent. Some cats liked to eat mice after all.

When Bent-Tail began sniffing, so too did Felix. He, like his owner, had eaten mice before... But they were garbage compared to the gourmet food provided by Riyo. Without much thought, the hazcat lowered his head and rubbed his masked face against the small creature just like he did with the taller ones.
Riyo didn't pay much attention to the two minis as they appeared to get along much better than their respective owners. She was too busy pretending she was somewhere else. In the safety and sanctity of her room instead of a smelly elevator with people she didn't like. Yes. What a nice thought.

At the friendly gesture given by the cat, Bent-Tail relaxed and nuzzled back in return. Already, he liked this one over his mean-faced companion. Felix was also a lot easier to deal with than Ziggy, who kind of liked to torment him. He gave a sort of happy little squeak.
Shun just sort of watched the minis, just to keep an eye on them. He wasn't worried that Felix would try to eat his pet at this point, but he would rather stare at them than the cat demon that happened to be in the same elevator.
Shifting, he just brought one knee up and rested his arm on top of it.

Sighing, Riyo reached into her pocket and pulled out the fancy skellephone she generally used for work... And plugged in a set of earphones to it.
Hey, if she was going to ignore him, why not do it thoroughly?
As the mouse accepted Felix's gesture of affection, the cat let out a muffled 'meowr' and moved into a crouching position, trying to initiate a mock chase section for fun. It had been fun with Caleb, and he was sure the little mouse could probably run fast... Even though there wasn't much space to run.
