  • Birth Name: Casey "Cass" Perry Marshall

xxxxx►► Alias: Blood Ace / Ace

  • Age: 24

  • Gender: Male

    xxxxx►► Sexual Orientation: Bisexual

  • Body Type: Slender / Athletic

  • Physical Overview
    xxxxxHeight: 5'7"
    xxxxxWeight: 164 lbs
    xxxxxEyes: Hazel
    xxxxxHair: Dark Auburn

  • Fashion / Aesthetic: Casey tends to lean towards the more relaxed side of fashion, though he does favor himself with a sense of style. Most times he'll be wearing a version of boot-cut, slim-fitting jeans, with some form of boots, tennis shoes, or street shoes. His torso will usually be covered by a tight-fitting T-shirt, sometimes with a design and sometimes covered by a light jacket. He's not much for accessories, so other than clothing that's about as far as his fashion sense goes. He's a big red, blue, purple, and green fan, so he will usually be wearing those colors.

xxxxx►► Defining Characteristics: There is a large slash-like scar on Casey's upper left arm, where he was injured as a child. He also has the black outline of a heart tattooed on his left hip bone, which is covered up by a black outlined ornate letter "A" when he's under the alias "Ace". Casey also has a small birthmark under his right upper arm that resembles a simple cloud -- meaning it looks like nothing.

  • Education: Casey graduated from West Valley High School near Fairbanks, Alaska; his hometown. He graduated at the top of his class, placing fourth. Casey went on to study for a year at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), but dropped out after his first year.

  • Career / Occupation: Casey works at a small local restaurant in Megalopolis.

  • Morals / Philosophy: Having grown up a "mutant", Casey has developed an estranged outlook on his fellow superhumans. He learned to accept what he had and learned to deal with it and hide it on his own. After transferring all the way to Megalopolis he found that the majority of people struggled constantly, seeking assistance. This angered Casey, as it seemed to him like the citizens of Megalopolis took advantage of everyone else, and were too numb-minded and foolish to learn how to cope with what they were given. In this regard, and with other influences, Casey adopted a "strike while the iron's hot" sort of mindset. He is not above theft, murder, and other criminal activity at all. Naturally he does things that would be looked up at; helping people out, stopping criminals, etc. Give Casey what he wants, though, and he'll bend over backwards and do whatever is needed. Even if that means killing the innocent and stealing from the poor.

  • Mutations / Superhuman Abilities: Casey was born with the ability to control darkness. As a child he would often times create friends out of shadows, and in the darkness he would build himself a whole new reality. Once light hit, though, it would all fade away. As he grew older he learned to pull shadows together from various areas and create a single entity, even in the daylight, but it would drain him heavily of his strength.

xxxxx►► Mutation Origins: His parents both had abilities; his mother was a healer and his father was a necromancer. Put together, he was able to create things from shadows. Casey never understood why his parents got together, knowing their differences.

xxxxx►► General Faults: Casey has a time limit when it comes to manipulating shadows. He can construct what he pleases from shadows; be it inanimate, functional, or even alive. But, depending on the complexity, it has a given time limit and functioning length before Casey drains himself of all his strength and is rendered unconscious. With this in mind, it is not often that Casey pushes himself to construct much beyond simple, fairly small objects. Casey also cannot create things from shadows if there are no shadows present, though this is extremely rare, as even in daylight there are shadows cast.

  • Combat Preference(s): Casey mostly creates a weapon from the shadows around him. Normally this will be some sort of functioning firearm, but he also has trained himself to be able to use various melee weapons functionally. He does have a .44 magnum that he carries around, and just constructs bullets out of shadows as his ammunition. This proves to be much less draining on his strength.

  • History / Origins: Casey was born to a healer and a necromancer. Sarah Perry, his mother, was a healer who used light energy to heal wounds on people. She worked at a hospital and was renowned for her mysterious healing abilities. Charles Marshall, his father, was a necromancer who worked in a morgue, and was often known as the "witch doctor", for when he was around people seemed to magically come back to life. When Casey was born, he was watched closely by his parents, as their strong grasp on and constant use of their abilities made them near certain that their son would show signs of mutation. Sure enough, his mother walked into a shadowy figure standing over her son's crib when he was a child. From that moment on, Casey Perry Marshall was kept out of sight, to protect him from onlookers and mutant haters.

When Casey was sent to school, he had grasped his ability enough to know not to use it around other people. It was not until he was in tenth grade that Casey slipped up and actually killed a boy in his school. He was beat up and picked on in school a lot for being the geeky child of two doctors. One day, when he was being beaten up by a group of boys, something snapped in his mind. Out from the shadows flew reaper-looking apparitions that drug the boy up a wall nearby. Nearly unconscious, Casey was unaware of what was happening until he was found later by authorities. He was released, as his condition proved that he had nothing to do with the crime and was pegged a victim of a violent attacker. That was the point that his parents began training him.

Casey would slip up two more times before his graduation, though both times they were nothing harmful. His first kiss brought him such enlightenment that he created a roomful of flowers -- black, colorless flowers. Thinking she was seeing things, the girl fled his home and never spoke to him again. The second time he was out ice fishing with a friend when Casey's friend fell through the ice. Panicked, Casey accidentally created a strange black, colorless grate under his friend, which lifted him up through the ice and onto the surface. Casey also created a blanket, which he wrapped his friend in until he got them to a warm place. Casey was not known for his abilities, and the only people that knew of them were his parents and a guy by the name of Lee Farrow, who held the ability of telepathy.

Meeting Lee Farrow was a godsend for Casey. They became instant best friends, meeting during first year of college. Having moved on from his life with his parents, Casey and Lee shared a dorm and learned things about each other that they could not learn any other way. Lee was able to read Casey's mind to know about his abilities, and Casey was able to understand what Lee was going through from his own struggles with superhuman abilities. Finding life surrounded by normal people difficult, the best friends -- and, for one short time, friends with benefits -- packed their stuff up at the end of their freshman year and moved all the way to Megalopolis; a famous city known to be the sprouting home for mutants.

Casey and Lee, still best friends following the move, got an apartment in the residential district of the city and both got a job at a small restaurant. From there they vowed to do what they could to make the city the way they wanted it; and, fortunately, they both understood each other once again. "Ace" and "Jack" became crime-fighting -- and causing -- superhumans during the late hours. Eventually, though, they agreed to take on missions independent of each other, though they stuck together at other times for the bonuses they lived with.
