The Idea

Ever played a game where you get to say a sentence or two before passing it on to the next person to continue the story? Well this is the same thing, just in depth for the paragraph affectionate individuals we are. One person starts the story off and then anyone can join in shaping the world, the story and the characters as they see fit.

Of course there will be some guidelines to keep chaos at bay but for the most part it will be a free for all to entertain those with the role-play bug. A way of motivation for when patience is draining.

Guidelines

Gaia Rules and No Name Rules are the first thing to stick to.
Keep in mind that even if it is a free for all role-play idea, do not control someone else's character with the exception to be listed below.
Feel free to make your own sub-plot. This is to be a massive world with things going on everywhere. If you do not want to be a part of the main story or are finding it difficult to integrate be another part of the big picture.
I am going to give everyone a chance of one month absence/no posting before their character/s are up for grabs. This way if two people interact and someone ends up waiting on another they have the opportunity to take over at a later date and the other party also has a chance to come back.
Try not to deviate too much. Sure, be creative, go your own way but do not create contradictions. For instance, I plan to start off in a somewhat medieval setting so no storm troopers showing up.
No need for character profiles. Develop the character and show them to us through what you write.
That is all I can think of for now, liable to change as we test this idea out.

Never can we see again,
None EveUser Image

Meaningless noise filled the streets, hundreds of voices drowning out each other. It was the busiest the village had been in quite some time though there was good reason for this. People had flocked the world over, coming from all corners of Evolune to visit various villages and cities along a certain path. All to see the newly wed king and queen of Initium, one of the largest territories of the world. They travelled to see their people, to bring them joy as only a happy kingdom could. Although this was all for show, the real purpose of their travels was a much more concerning matter. The necklace that was the king's bloodline's most priceless heirloom. Why? Because it held mysterious power with long forgotten origin. The jewellery that most thought was just for show had a greater purpose; to protect the kingdom of Initium from any threat. If any of its enemies knew it was missing war would most certainly breakout. King Javehd could not risk that. Not with a new bride to give him new sons to replace the ones he had lost through death. He refused even mentally to acknowledge the one who had abandoned his royal duties for a life of adventure though it was likely that he too was dead having lived a sheltered life. He would not have known the dangers of the world outside the palace especially after neglecting lessons.

But that was neither here nor there for the one who relished the noise of a bustling city had no association with the palace or those interested in country gossip. Hiding in the shadows, watching strangers and villagers walk by was a young woman who often hid to be spared persecution. The bustle was enough for others to forget of her even though before people had arrived in the hundreds she had been ordered to disappear and not stain the village's reputation. All because of her origins, her genetics. Her eyes, her ears, her tail; all signs of what she really was or at least a part of her. A demon, something to fear, something vile that would kill you in your sleep despite the evidence. None had only ever stolen things and only to survive and yet her lack of violence was unacknowledged. To them she was still one thing; a monster. She missed when life had been good but that was when she was young, when her father was alive. Bitter she shook away those thoughts, slipping further into the shadows. She had opportunities to take. One such opening was the merchant ships in the bay. The village being next to the ocean was None's favourite trait. While she avoided the townsfolk she occasionally met sailors and merchants even pirates who had no care for what she was. Better yet were the things she could steal.

Slipping through the back alleys, shadows and across roofs on occasion, the devil girl made short time of crossing the village unnoticed by citizens, travellers and guards as she made her way to the docks. The noise followed her everywhere, disturbing those who would normally keep a keen eye out for thieves. Watchful gazes were distracted by bright colours and conversation, it was the perfect chance. Though None was not without caution. She used her best acrobatics to stick to the shadows as she crept aboard the first ship. It was deserted but also had little of value to the girl. What few trinkets she found were ones she could not sell to the one man who would buy from her. He took only the most valuable items. Giving up on her search, None moved to the next and was well rewarded. While she had to keep out of sight she had the joys of raiding crates and barrels filled with various food brought for banquets. She spent a log time hidden in the shadows feasting on exotic fruits before making off with a few extra in her pack. With a full belly she was almost careless as she boarded the third ship. This one was different from the others. An ancient ship that was long due for Davy Jones' Locker. Though most of the crew was most likely enjoying the celebrations in their own twisted way, a few stalked the decks with sneers that would dissuade most from attempting to board. None was a different matter.

Her progress was slower than on the other ships, a tribute to the men who called the vessel their home. They were no pushovers and the demon girl knew this. Carefully she slipped into the darkness of below deck, making sure to avoid the remaining crew as much as possible. Silently she searched coming across various stashes of valuables most likely stolen from others. She knew these were the type of men who lived a frivolous life where their every whim was satisfied. A life she could understand and appreciate. When she was younger she had dreamed of joining a pirate crew or even being a pirate queen herself. The cruelty of such people had quickly destroyed those dreams with pain and misery. With memories clear in her mind, None took joy in picking the lock of the captain's cabin where she found bountiful treasures. Filling the rest of her pack with many shiny trinkets, it soon sagged heavy at her side. She filled it so much that she almost could not close it. Then she spotted something that she could not pass up. A white gold necklace that gleamed with an eerie light. A twisting snake pattern slithered down to a single bright green stone. For a moment None thought she heard music but shaking her head at the strange sensation, she continued to reach her hand out. The minute her hand touched the warm metal the unnatural air seemed to be swept away. She wondered if perhaps she was too tired. Her curiosity about the strange pendant that now adorned her neck vanished when noise in the room beyond alerted her to the fact the crew was returning. None had to get out and fast.

Carefully she edged to the door she had come through, keeping close to the wall as she glanced through the gap. She counted five people in the cabin, talking, laughing. They were drunk and that would make things somewhat easier. Cautiously the demon girl slipped through the opening and then the cabin, using barrels and supporting beams as cover. The intoxicated pirates would hardly notice her if she stood out in the open. Reaching the stairs, her luck changed. She had barely reached the top step when a shout of alarm caused panic to rise. She had been spotted, not by the drunk pirates below but by a sober one above who had already unsheathed his sword. Abandoning stealth for speed None glided up, dodging a dagger thrown from the docks by another returning crew member. Ignoring the angry cries she continued to glide across the ship. In no time she had crossed the entire vessel before leaping across to a ship anchored next to the war veteran. Those aboard held little more than surprise, rising only to gape wordlessly at the devil who scurried on to escape capture. Laughing at her success, she slipped into the shadows of the streets, even dashing through the crowd at times making sure she was long hidden before the pirates could even consider scouring the city for the girl who had taken a magical necklace that even they had no idea of what power it held. Something so important lost in the hands of thieves.

They hate me for what I am. My hatred for such ignorance dominates theirs.
