Celena

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

╫Main Information╫

Full Name: Celena Moss
Bloodline:Ranger
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Nation: Sol Solis
Land: The Forest Land of Sulyll

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

╫Equipment Information:╫

Weapons: As with all rangers, Celena’s most prized possession is her Yew Bow passed down from her grandmother.

Armor: N/A

Clothing: Celena can always be spotted in clothes of greens or browns. All the better to blend into the scenery with...
Generally she wears a short sleeved shirt and close fitting brown trousers (similar to tights but lighter-weight), she wears a fingerless elbow length glove on her right hand (her ‘firing’ hand) and knee length dark brown leather boots.
Although her particular ‘village’ -as a strict rule- never harm animals, they are not averse to trading or gaining items after an animal has had a natural death- which is how Celena acquires her leather garments. (All of Celena’s garments are hand-me-downs, so fading and some tattiness are a given.)

What else do they have on their person?: Her quiver made from deer hide and a small dagger. She also carries a herb pouch.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

╫Fighting Style╫
Celena is a long distance fighter with her bow being her preferred weapon. Jumping easily through the treetops, she uses her skills as a ranger to blend in and tends not to harm unless totally necessary.
Though she carries a dagger with her, it’s more for everyday use rather than self defence.
If, gods forbid, Celena should ever have the displeasure of close combat- you can be sure she will run rather than losing.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

╫Character Description╫

Personality: Being the youngest of six children, Celena is often overlooked. She tends to use this to her advantage though and delights in escaping from everyone and everything into the forests. She is a dreamer and a girl of little words, finding when she does talk she usually ends up being rude or looking silly. She cares more about others than herself, though, and will stop at nothing to do the right thing or help somebody/ thing in need.
Height: 5’1
Weight: 111lbs
Eye Color: Caramel
Hair Color: Blonde
Talents: A child of herbalists, herb lore is a given in the Moss household. Though this isn’t the path Celena ultimately wants to take it’s her duty as her parents’ daughter to learn their trade.
Celena has a knack for fading into the background and becoming ‘invisible’.
Theme Music:
Companion: Black wolf called Kalah
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

╫Background Information╫

Born to the treetop dwellers in the Forest Land of Sulyll, where protecting the deep of the forest and their way of life is all-important and tales of the Great War are nothing more than fireside legends.
Celena’s parents are herbalists, mixing and concocting new and exciting medicines and alternative uses for the vast flora and fauna around them. She is the youngest of six and comes last in the line of an elder brother, three sisters, her twin brother and then herself. She is often overshadowed by her other siblings, always given hand-me-downs and scraps. The only person who truly sees and knows her, is her eldest brother- however, when he came of age he left to explore the land outside the forests. Celena dreams of one day following in his footsteps even though her parents won’t allow it.
Growing up, Celena was trained proficiently in archery (as are most ranger-children) and was lucky enough to inherit her grandmother’s bow, her most prized possession.
Celena’s clan traditionally bond to an animal in their formative years. Each person bonds with only one animal and she was also lucky enough to find her bond-mate, a wolf named Kalah quite recently.

With her eighteenth birthday rapidly approaching, Celena’s parents were growing increasingly concerned with her lack of marriage proposals. In their small village most women began receiving proposals upon or after their sixteenth birthdays. They married young and quickly went about having children. This was something Celena didn’t find distasteful; she just didn’t want that now (regardless of receiving no offers).

Her parents did find this tasteful, however, and decided they must resort to drastic measures to ensure their youngest child’s ‘situation’ had been taken care of.

And so, Celena was promised to a man from another town. They were to be married upon her birthday and her mother and sisters began the preparations that very day. Celena would not have her fate sealed by her parents and so that very night she began preparations of her own... preparations to escape.

The Meeting Celena & Kalah

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Green met her eyes wherever she turned- at least to most it would seem that way. If you looked closer- or could see closer in her case- the forest offered so much more than that. It had a vibrancy about it; forever changing, forever growing, always alive. Celena couldn't imagine a life anywhere else, and yet she yearned to explore the realms outside her own. She dreamed of dipping her feet into the ocean, climbing the highest peaks of the mountains she could only see on the clearest days, even visiting a proper town!

Sighing she leant against the hard bark of the tree at her back drawing strength from its solid presence. As if sensing her dreary mood a small bluebird fluttered onto a nearby branch and cocked its head at her. It then proceeded to send her images of itself taunting a forest cat. Celena couldn't help herself and soon joined in on the bluebirds mirth.

She had always loved her people's skill at communing with animals. It was nothing like talking with humans. Animals conveyed their thoughts through feelings or by images. Some were harder to understand than others. Celena had found animals that spent the majority of their time around humans (like the little bluebird) were even easier to understand than the other denizens of the forest. Her favourite animal to converse with, when they deigned to grace her presence, were the wolves. Yet, their communications were only ever brief and taunting. This was the reason she was out in the deep of the forest today. It seemed of late everywhere she went one wolf in particular kept appearing and giving her tantalizing snippets of thought. Unsure if it was just luck or chance that it gave them to her in particular, Celena had started out early that morning to see if 'wolfie' followed.

A flash of black crossed Celena’s peripheral vision indicating that finally, she was no longer alone.
Slowly she turned around, ever careful not to spook the creature lingering in the shadows. Knowing she couldn’t rush she sat down and crossed her legs, bowing her head so that her long blonde hair curtained her face.

Celena wasn’t sure how long she had waited when she felt the first tentative brushes along her mind. Suspicion and something else, something un-nameable flitted through her head. Celena kept completely still throughout. Moving now would be a disaster; she knew instinctively that she would never be given this chance again. Instead she remained exactly where she was, hoping that the black wolf would come closer.

Celena nearly jumped out of her skin when a warm, moist nose pressed itself into her neck. She struggled not to throw herself backwards. While her people might communicate and take animals as bond-mates they were ever-wary that they were dealing- for the most part- with wild animals that weren’t without caution. One must always be aware of what any animal they were near was thinking because they could, and did, attack.

Celena had a profound feeling that this animal, this wolf, would not. Unwilling to take any chances she prepared herself to run. An attack never came. The wet little nose withdrew and all went silent.

Celena was devastated, her chance at a possible bonding had come and gone. She hadn’t been chosen. Anguish tore through her, she was once again missing out on something her other siblings all had. Even her twin brother Dian had already bonded. Tears began leaking from her eyes and Celena did nothing to quench their flow. Maybe one of my sisters will get sick of their bond-mate and will hand it down to me? She thought savagely. Regretting her unholy thought it instantly, though, she shook her head. A bond-mate was a mate for the duration of their and your lives and weren’t to be taken lightly. Brushing tears away on her gloved hand, Celena tilted her head back and released a shocked gasp as emerald eyes met her own caramel ones.

The wolfs green eyes danced as it spoke to her,
"I had to pick the silly one," It’s youthful voice was dry with humour.

”I’m not silly!” Celena replied indignantly, then, realising the enormity of that small statement the wolf had uttered, she said, ”You pick me? We’re bond-mates?” She stammered as happiness crashed through her. Unable to help herself, she jumped up and started dancing.

"Yes.... though you’re beginning to make me doubt my judgement."

Laughing Celena crouched down and hugged the black beast, ”You won’t ever regret it, I promise you that!”

"I know," The wolf said before laughter filled her mind and its raspy tongue covered her face.

"I know."
