This was one of the few times Merric had been out of the house to do nothing but walk around. Mostly it was on errands, or picking up his sister, or going to band practice, but this time was different. He was completely free to do absolutely anything he wanted. and what does he do? He walks Destiny City, at dusk, trying to see if the place where he got his guitar picks the last time he lost the set is open. At the time, this seemed like a very good idea. Now though, as he found himself in the not so nice part of town (completely on the wrong side of town from the guitar shop, mind you), he was starting to think that he should have looked under the couch for his picks.
"Good going Merric, you've gotten yourself lost," he muttered with disdain. He should have been home an hour ago, but no. Nope, he got lost instead. The only good thing was the fact he had a bike... parked some blocks away in some direction he couldn't remember.
Wonderful. Of course, what could possibly go wrong now?

The Eternal Senshi of Danger was out and about, as usual. He was in a bad mood, as usual. But the source was not as normal as it usually was. It wasn't some juvenile grumpiness, or trivial wrong he felt deserved his being mad at the world. It wasn't related to his senshi work, directly, at all.
Though, he could certainly do something about it while powered up.
No, he was angry because his father was in the hospital. Again. And he had been badly wounded. Something had happened to his leg, though Nate hadn't gotten the story. He imagined, though, as any suspicious senshi might, that it hadn't been innocent.
A youma or a Nega had gotten their hands on him, and that was not okay with Chaonis.
So he was out once again, looking for whoever or whatever, if it hadn't been dusted, had hurt Tony. It seemed to be happening more often, but Chaonis chalked it up to things just not being safe enough for civilians yet. So he would go out and fight any youma he found, or bash in any Nega face he could get his fists on.
Instead, he found some kid wandering around a fairly empty area. He dropped down from the roof and landed in front of the young man, looking at him coolly. Maybe he was a nega in disguise. Chaonis had punched a civilian once before, and it hadn't been a very fun experience. He wasn't planning on picking a fight with this kid. Something just told him to get down here.
Maybe there was a youma nearby.

It was going to be one of those evenings.
Merric took a step back in shock, almost falling over as the man (who looked like a walking suit of football pads) dropped right in front of him. Silver-grey eyes widened in shock and he scrambled to put some manor of distance between him and the man. Which, if he'd known the other's mood, probably wasn't the best idea. But as he didn't, Merric did the only thing that made sense; backing up.
He put his hands up in some kind of fail defensive position, just in case. Like in the movies, except there was absolutely no confidence behind Merric's arms. If anything, Merric just didn't want to look like a sissy.
"He's got... a**... wings? What the hell is this dude, besides a walking set of pads and caution tap?" he said, not exactly realizing he'd said it out loud. It was the encounter with the pink and black haired girl all over again. He just couldn't keep his mouth shut.
"Hey! Its not cool dropping in from the damn sky in front of people!" Merric glared at the other in annoyance, though the only thing he felt was an encrouching sense of doom.
He needed to stay away from the costumed freaks. He -really- needed to stay away from them.

Chaonis watched as the young man backed away from him, eying him sharply. Why was he running? Besides being jumped, almost, by a terrorist. Maybe he knew Chaonis wasn't a terrorist, but a senshi and had a much better reason to run.
Or maybe Chaonis was just being a jerk for the sake of it again.
Now that he was down here, he wasn't going to just waste the effort of that jump. Which was easy and almost like second nature now, but this guy didn't know that, and Chaonis was just justifying things silently, loosely, in his own mind. So that was that.
When the boy spoke to himself, Chaonis scowled at him.
"What did you say?" He growled, clenching his fist. Sure, other senshi could tease his buttwings and get away with it, and Negas would just get punched in the face for it. That was all expected. but he wasn't sure he liked this nobody civilian giving him crap about it so brazenly.
Who did he think he was?
Bad Mood Chaonis moved closer to the kid, glaring at him. "You have a reason to be out here, or am I just lucky? Tell me you're looking for trouble, and I'll give you some." He grinned. Okay, it was mean to pick on random people who didn't know better, but the opportunity was there and he was in it now. He couldn't back out and just let the guy go without some hassling.
Bad reputation for senshi or not.

"You, uh, have an a** bow, and look like walking knee pads?" he said, suddenly unsure of whether that was the, ah, correct thing to say. The costumed freak obviously was already annoyed with something, and it didn't seem like the best idea to tick him off.
But Merric was lost, annoyed in his own right, and the dude fell out of the sky in front of him.
"Dude look, its not Halloween, though every one of the rest of your gang or whatever it is seem to thing so. And it isn't cool dropping in on some poor bloke who's lost just trying to find the damn guitar shop," he said heatedly, glaring back at the costumed man.
Stupid Merric, so so stupid. Aw, but hell he didn't care anymore. He just wanted to get this over with and find his way back home. Whether or not it was in one piece, he was going to find out.
Painfully.

Chaonis stared at the young man for a very long, tense moment. It was like fire slowly crackling to life, and his expression did not do anything to relieve the feeling of slowly roiling anger filling the air between them.
He clicked his tongue behind his teeth.
"It's not halloween, huh?" he said, seemingly ignoring the butt bow comment but clearly not. He had it with him, in the back of his mind, along with all the other comments the civilian had made so far.
"And what are you going to do at the Guitar Shop? Rob it? Tell me you're going to rob it." the same comment as before, asking him to say something that would give Chaonis a good enough excuse to punch the guy while powered up. Good name for the Senshi be damned.
They would always be terrorists, regardless of what Chaonis did.
He heard a growl, though, and everything cleared up. Glancing just down the street, he saw a long, thin youma walking toward them. It was human shape, but much too thin, walking on spindly legs. It had long arms held up before it, like a zombie might, though its elbows bent the wrong way.
It was looking very keenly at Merric.

No it wasn't Halloween. It was the middle of summer. Jeez what was with this dude and looking for a fight? And rob the guitar shop? Why the hell would Merric do that? Did he look that shady to this guy or something? Question flitted through his head as he frowned at costume boy and tried to come up with some kind of retort.
And something growled.
Merric shivered and turned around to where costume boy was staring. He didn't know what it was, but he didn't noticed just how it seemed to follow his movements and stare at him.
Fear slithered its way down his spine and he swallowed reflexively.
"What the hell is that thing... its definitely not human. Not at all..." And why is it staring at me, oh god why... his mind whined in fear. He brought his hands back up into that same lame a** defensive position.
Something told him it wasn't going to help much.

Chaonis watched.
"I dunno. Maybe it's mad you didn't dress up for halloween."
There were a few methods to how he conducted his business, of course. He was well aware that he was a senshi and he wouldn't have had the butt wings if he weren't, at least in some way, good at his job. He did know he had to keep people safe, or at the very least alive, but that didn't mean he had to like it. And he certainly didn't have to like the people he saved.
He just had to keep them alive.
This guy had been a jerk, so it was fair to turn things around on him a bit. No, the youma wasn't going to get a free snack out of it, but this guy might have some stained pants by the end of the night. Chaonis grinned and watched as the rather creepy creature slinked its way closer, each step followed by a low, rolling moan that seemed to fill the floor then drift into the sky, fading from ear shot as it passed upwards.
"I don't think it likes you."
As if that were its cue, it quickened its pace. It darted to one side, then the other, its running gait a zigzag pattern that made it look like it was flashing from one side to the next. It opened its mouth and let out a high pitched screech, lifting its backwards arms, long fangs evident behind wide jaws that were connected by stray pieces of flesh.

Oh... "something he could use to defend himself.
That's what they did in the movies, wasn't it? Hit the zombies with shovels and metal pipes and kill'em off.
Something told Merric that wasn't going to help him in the slightest.
So he did the only logical thing he could think of: run behind a** Wings and hope the man destroyed the thing.
"Do something! That thing is going to eat my brains!" Very cool Merric, very cool indeed. Slick even. That was going to really win points with Butt Wings here. Oh totally.

Chaonis watched him, tilting his head to the side. He would probably have to help at some point, but...
He hadn't had anyone react quite like this before. A zombie attack was one thing, but there was only one youma. Clearly not a very effective zombie, if that were indeed the case. Did youma want to eat brains, regardless of being dead or not?
He didn't think so. Just energy and starseeds, and maybe some flesh if they were bored. But not specifically brains.
While he was pondering this, of course, the youma had gotten all too close to the poor young man. And that, it seemed, meant closer to him. He looked at Merric as the young man hid behind the senshi, frowning at him from over his own shoulder.
"Brave one, huh?"
He turned at the youma wasn't really waiting for him to finish his showy mocking. It leapt on them, bringing them both down to the floor. Chaonis kicked upwards, not careful about Merric, who was mostly underneath him, throwing the youma off of them and moving to get back to his feet.

"You're the one with a** wings! That has to count for something... right?" said Merric, only to have the last part of his sentence drowned out by a yell of pain as he was crashed into. Damn this dude is ********' heavy. Has to be the a** wings. Or something. Chaonis kicked upwards and Merric felt something very boney (a shoulder, or one of those butt wings, it had to be) jam right above his nether regions. The teen coughed in pain, rolling to his side for a minute, thanking every higher power his nads hadn't gotten squished.
Silver eyes turned back to the senshi, wondering if he should help any.
"Ya gunna need any help?" he asked, fishing through his pockets for something to stab it with. He found change, guitar picks, a roll of toothpic--- guitar picks it was.
Though, as he held the plastic pieces in his hands, he realized that maybe... maybe they wouldn't help that much.

"Why do you keep looking at my a**? Now is not the time for checking me out, pal." Chaonis grumbled this after they had been sent sprawling to the floor, as if it were direly important that he get the quip out, no matter that the timing had been thrown off from the youma's attack.
He looked back and saw the guy going blue in the face, realizing he might have crushed something particularly sensitive. He winced sympathetically for half a second before laughing.
Served him right.
"Help? Unless you want to be live bait, you'll probably do better getting the ******** away before I let it eat you." A bit more grumpy than he usually was, which was saying something, but he had no patience tonight for helpless, powerless little boys wanting to play super hero with him. He was not playing dress up, and they were not going to have cookies and milk afterwards.
The youma lunged at them again, and Chaonis had to focus on it. It slammed into him, but this time took him sideways rather than right on top of Merric. He punched the youma hard in the face for that one. There was a sickening crunch at contact, and it was clear it had not been Chaonis' fingers breaking.

"Hey, you're the one with them! And they're kinda hard to miss." The retort was bad, he knew, but he couldn't restrain himself. He was just too riled up (the dude had almost squished his nads! That was an offense if there ever was one) to care.
He did have a point though. Merric really couldn't do anything, except act as bait or run away. So as the monster felt the force of Chaonis' hand, the teen sprinted into a near by alley and hid behind a trash can, though still able to see.
And a** Wings wouldn't let the thing eat him.... would he?
A part of Merric seriously doubted that, actually...

Chaonis was considering it.
But only for a moment.
He knew he couldn't let the youma just have the civilian, at least not now that he was there and saw the thing. It would be a bad blow for the senshi but, more than that, Chaonis did have a feeling of obligation to help. Faint as it might be, he just couldn't leave the blue haired dude to die.
The youma turned on Chaonis and decided that it did not want to fight a senshi: it wanted to enjoy a nice, helpless civilian. It darted away, lightning fast it seemed, zigzagging its way toward Merric. It's face split into a horrible howl, though now sound escaped it besides a low rumble. It lifted its strangely shaped arms and Chaonis tackled it just before it reached Merric's hiding place.
"You have some kind of monster magnet perfume on or something?!" He yelled at the young man, punching the youma repeatedly.

"I've never even seen these things before!? How is it supposed to be attracted to me! he yelled, picking up what looked like a discarded pipe and held it out in front of himself like he saw them do in the movies. He doubted it was going to help, but at least he could skewer the thing if it lept at him and a** Wings couldn't get to it fast enough.
If skewering it didn't do the trick...
Merric was going to get face raped, and not in the good way. (Though whether there ever was a good way for that was debate-able.)
"And why the ******** would I wear perfume!? That's a girl thing!" That's besides the point Merric, it really is. But ah well, hopefully the thing would be dead soon.
