General Painite.

She was still getting used to the way that sounded, of course. She hadn't had a chance to introduce herself as it, not to one of her enemies at least, and she was anticipating that moment like a child dreams about ice cream. She could almost imagine the look on some young senshi's face, or better yet even a knight, staring at her and her new and improved Mr. Saddles.

The Spirit of Mr. Saddles? It needed a better name now. The weapon had gone from hobby horse to javelin, and now it was a spear of sorts. It was still sharpened like a javelin on the bottom, but the top was ended in a sharp, dangerous looking spearhead. Mr. Saddles' hair remained around the top, presumably to continue doing its job of absorbing blood spilled by the sharp weapon.

She hadn't used it in battle yet, but she would figure out a proper, fitting name in time.

Holding it, she was standing a top a low building, looking out over the city. A city full of victims and targets, of possibilities and fun. She could hardly think where to start, though she knew that nothing was truly different in this regard. Her duties were newer, but in the end she still served that one purpose, and knew who and what she was.

Lieutenant, Captain or General, she was still Painite. Servant of the Negaverse, and villainous mastermind.

Hiro approached the rooftop silently, belly hugging the ground. He'd been out minding his own business (completely innocent! look at this face! would it lie to you?) when a General-size energy flare had appeared. Hiro was more attuned to corrupted energy than any senshi or white moon Mauvians, but that didn't mean any enemies out there wouldn't notice eventually.

Besides, this was the neighbourhood where Hiro trained with Painite. If there was a General moving in on their territory, Hiro wanted to know about it (and hiss and challenge them to a staring contest).

The building wasn't very tall, just a short, squat one-story deal. The fire escape was old, but wide and easy to slink up. On top of the roof, Hiro approached the General from within the shadows, single eye glaring.

Of course, the glare quickly faded as Hiro slunk out of the shadows and got a good look at the interloper.

"Painite?!"

Aw, look at his little baby, all grown up!

Painite heard the familiar voice and looked back to see the familiar kitty.

"Hiro!" She laughed excitedly, moving over to him and dropping to her knees near him. She'd've hugged him if he were bigger, but she didn't want to give him whiplash by picking him up quickly and hugging the daylights out of him. She was trying to control her hug urges, as it were, but with the fluffy, tiger printed cat it was always difficult.

She couldn't help but adore him, after all, which only made the impulses stronger.

"What do you think, huh? Not too bad for a Lieutenant with a hobby horse, right?" She beamed excitedly, letting him get a look at her as a General. She was still wrapping her head around it, herself. She was always going to strive, but she felt like she had proven something to herself and the world at large.

She was not going to give up on anything now, no matter how hard it had been and how hard it would become. She had a negaverse to make proud, and a rank to truly fill and do justice.

"How have you been?"

"Very impressive," Hiro said honestly, pride evident in his voice. Not all Negaverse officers made it to General - and certainly not as quickly as Painite had. It said a lot for her that she'd not only survived, but thrived, in the middle of a war with senshi and pages alike.

He gave Painite a kitty smile, dropping his jaw to show off his teeth. "You'll always be that little Lieutenant with Mister Saddles in my mind, Painite," he teased. She may be a general now, but she still seemed just as young and excitable to him. Not to mention, just as eager to hug him.

Well, if anyone deserved it, it was the new General. Hiro nodded his head. "I think it might be hugs time." He looked up at Painite expectantly.

Painite smiled fondly, ever thankful to Hiro and his training help. She still thought of his tips when she was in battle, and still used what she had learned to its best effect. At least, she certainly tried to. Even in defeat, she kept her head up an worked hard.

"Mister Saddles had a bit of a promotion himself," she smiled, "though I'll miss the little hobby horse. But now he's a strong fighter by my side. I'm calling him Staff Corporal Saddles now."

She grinned. She knew it was silly to name her weapon, but it had been a true part of her team. Even now, with all her Lieutenants training with her, and her friends aiding her in her plots and traps, Mister Saddles was a vital companion. Where woulds he be without her weapon?

Laughing in delight, she scooped Hiro up and hugged him. She tried not to crush the cat, of course, but he was furry and soft and she was very excited.

"Thank you for all your help, Hiro. I never would have come this far, or had anything to teach my own teammates, if you hadn't helped me first. You're still my favorite cat." She smiled and nuzzled him, kissing him on the head before she finally put him back down.

"But don't think that means I won't still need some tips and practice, of course. My game is always improving, you know."

Hiro nodded as Painite talked about her weapon like it was a person, another fighter in her battles. It made perfect sense to the cat. Even discounting the magical nature of the weapons, this was a feline who watched and breathed iaido (even if he couldn't exactly practise it, having no opposable thumbs and all). The idea of a weapon being a precious partner was completely understandable.

He purred loudly as Painite scooped him up. She may have been an enthusiastic cat lover, but she waited for permission before touching and she was always very gentle. He wasn't exactly suffering under her hugs and kisses. Hiro gave Painite's cheek a gentle smooch before she lowered him back to the ground.

"As I should be," he declared in mock outrage that his Painite would ever prefer another cat over him. They had been training together for quite some time now - as if some other feline could just waltz in and steal Painite's affection! (If Dahlia or any other newcomer tried, they would be in for the mother of all catfights - his tiny scritcher, not theirs!)

"Of course. Any time you like." Hiro flicked his tail and gave Painite a proud smile. Ah, it was no wonder she was one of his favourites - always eager for training, even at this power level. Painite wasn't one to take things easy. It was no wonder Hiro doted on her.

Painite had only met a couple other cats, and the interactions hadn't gone too well. One cat, at camp, she had managed to chase off accidentally and it got itself washed away in a river. She wasn't sure if it was okay, though it had been a senshi cat so she assumed it was for the best, either way.

The two other senshi cats had been on various levels. The purple one was very pretty and fluffy, and they had had an interesting conversation. The small one with no tail had been less fun, and had shot Painite in the face with some kind of cat laser.

Painite didn't like that one.

So she was very loyal to Hiro, and there was no competition and she didn't think there would be.

"How are things for you, anyway? No one giving you any trouble, right? I've got a very sharp stick, of they are. And minions to help." She grinned. Her lovely Lieutenants, she meant. She did love them, but she felt that they needed to be trained just as she had, and while fun was always good, she wanted them to be serious about their growth within the Negaverse.

"Fairly well," Hiro answered, tail twitching as he considered the state of his current plots. "I've got a lot of plans afoot, but they're proceeding nicely. I've been working with General Zinkenite on some of them - he's not too bad. Very reserved, but I guess it takes all sorts to make an army."

And the General was very intelligent. Perhaps supressing emotions heightened intelligence? Hmm. Naaah, Hiro didn't much feel like trying it. He had genius plots of his own and still got to yell whenever he liked during training sessions. Best of both worlds, clearly. Poor Zinkenite - not everyone could be as perfect as a cat.

He grinned at Painite's offer to back him up if anyone dared to pick on him. "Minions? Oh yes, a General must have her underlings, musn't she? So who have you picked out?"

This was also a very important factor for training. Would Painite have a well-rounded team, or one leaning towards a specific skill set? Did they work together properly (though there was always room for improvement, especially from Hiro-sensei)?

Painite nodded her head, familiar with General Zinkenite now.

She looked thoughtful at his question. Her style of training let a lot of Negas come in and out of her line of sight. She liked to help whoever wanted it, of course, but she did have Lieutenants who reported to her.

"Well, I see more of the boys these days than the ladies, but Zanazziite, Bazzite, Zippeite and Benitoite report to me. Trona and Sugilite have my aid, as well, if they'd like it." She smiled. Bazzite and Zippeite were fun to call minion, as they were both, particularly the former, very eager to please. They certainly had a lot of energy between them, though.

She liked that.

Everyone on her team, be it through reporting to her or simply aiding her in her plots, were important to her. They all had a strength in them, a spark of potential, and she wanted to see each one of them grow to be strong and capable, to be the best they could be and make themselves as well as the Negaverse proud. She had every bit of faith that they all would, in their own ways. That was always the important thing.

Hiro tilted his head to the side. One ear flopped down a few degrees. "I don't think I know those names." Admittedly the Negaverse had some very crazy names, making it hard for Hiro to remember everyone he'd met... but he was also very aware that he had barely scratched the surface when it came to meeting his minions colleagues.

He perked up, teal gaze zooming in on Painite. "I should meet them," he decided. "I have to make sure they're up to scratch."

Not just anyone could work for his Painite, after all. She deserved the best. And if these Lieutenants weren't? Well, Hiro would just have to whip them into shape.

... Someone was giving an evil chuckle. Oh crap, that was him! Hiro cut it off abruptly, clearing his throat. He quickly adopted an innocent face - you saw nothing, you heard nothing.

"It sounds like they didn't assign you a bunch of idiots, then," he said. But of course it was better to make sure of that himself. Nothing was allowed to go wrong for the first of his trainees to make General.

"You can bet they will be, don't you fret about that." She grinned at him and winked, not worrying any more, not since the first time she met him, about being spotted talking to a cat. It might have been odd, but not to anyone who knew even the slightest thing about the real world around them.

She wouldn't mind him lending his paw in training her minions, of course. Considering how he had helped her become the warrior she was now, after all, and if he could bring the awesome out in her then surely her own Lieutenants would benefit from them both.

They were the future of the Negaverse, just as she was: the stronger they all became, the better.

She grinned at his laugh, thinking for a moment that it was a little off sides. She was the evil mastermind, after all, and was she not suppose to be the one petting the cat and laughing evilly? But it seemed he had the laugh down pat, so that was fine.

"No idiots in my crew," she said, shaking her head. Whatever they were, their faults and strengths, they were her responsibility. And she didn't take that very lightly.

He was slightly reassured by Painite's opinion on her minions. She was a bright girl - she'd be able to spot any idiots sent her way. Of course this didn't mean that there were as good as Painite thought they were - just that they weren't the worst possible Lieutenants to have. He still wanted to see them and judge for himself.

"I'll have to watch you in battle sometime," he said, tail flicking idly. "See how you work as a group, make sure there aren't any weakness that those b*****d Knights or white moon Senshi can take advantage of."

Lately the Knights had been proving to be the most dangerous. But Hiro hadn't forgotten that he'd arrive din Destiny City at a time when several of their best Negaverse agents had been held hostage by that Blood Moon group of senshi. They were just as dangerous, or more so, even if they were lying low at the moment.

Still... he shot Painite a warm look. This was a major accomplishment, and he was proud to be here with her, a new General. "You'll be a wonderful General," he said. "Those idiots are lucky to be led by you."

Painite frowned at the mention of the knights. She hated them more than she did senshi, or so she felt. She knew their war was with the White Moon, however, and that would always remain with her. Her personal vendetta, though, was against the knights.

They were assholes.

"Maybe you can come with me when I get a knight's starseed," she said brightly, though there was an edge to her tone and a look in her eyes. A dark seriousness. She fully intended on ripping those glowing stones of life out of every knight she could.

Maybe she'd make a nice necklace out of them.

She smiled at his compliment, though, nodding her head.

"I think so too," she said with a wink, "but I'm lucky to be able to lead them. I really wouldn't be here without your help. Or maybe I would, but I'd still be faking it." She chuckled, "I think I have to prove now that I really deserve it. And I will. Without a doubt."

Hiro chuckled. He did so love Painite's dedication. And if she had a vendetta against the Knights, well, he couldn't blame her. As long as she kept her head while targeting them, Hiro wasn't about to complain. It was unlikely anyone else in the Negaverse would care, either - energy was energy, and enemies were enemies.

"I'll be glad to assist in any way I can," he said with a fierce, fangy grin.

A loud rumble filled the air at the compliments. It was always nice to be appreciated. "Thanks. But I've got no doubts you'll prove yourself worthy." She already was, after all. Tanzanite didn't let people get to General stage without deserving it and having proved themselves ready. "I'm always here if you need me, though."

Painite nodded her head and moved to give him another pat on the head. She picked him up and cuddled him after that, unable to resist and not really trying anyway. She nuzzled her face against his fur and just held on to him for a bit before putting him down.

"I should let you get back to all your important nega kitty things," she said with a wink. "I'll let you know when I think of something good for you to join in on. It'll be a brilliant time."

She grinned broadly. Brilliant for them, maybe, but, if she had her way, not so much with the Senshi or Knights who had the misfortune of stumbling into that trap.

Once she thought of it.

For now, though, she would go about her duties. Train her Lieutenants. Try and get herself a starseed or two to show off with. She wasn't just aiming to make herself proud, or to prove to Hiro or Tanzanite or any of the other negaverse agents anything. Not just. She also wanted to do her job.
