Malidy had been around the Weyr for a while now, but she still spent quite a bit of time getting lost in the tunnels and passage ways. Not that it mattered, she didn't mind getting lost, it just meant that she'd be able to get all over the compound quickly because she'd know where all the halls went and the fastest ways to wherever she needed to be.
She was wondering through some passages late in the evening, her still nameless brown was curled up in a pouch she'd made for him, with a strap that went over her shoulder so she could carry him around safely and still be able to use both hands. He was sleeping still, she'd just fed him not long ago. Vogal her canine walked along with her sniffing at the ground now and again. He was after all a tracker.
Malidy had no idea where she was going at that moment, so when she came to a fork she just went randomly to the right. Vogal stopped and barked once listening to the sound echo down the hall. "Hush boy. We don't want to bother anyone." The red head said quickly, and the canine was quiet as ordered, though he bounced a few paces ahead of Malidy the hair on his ridge stuck up. He smelled something and didn't know what it was.

Scimsk did not much enjoy the times he had to spend inside the Weyr. Scimi thought it was important for the wher to know the layout of all the corridors of the wher, that way he would be able to navigate them without any worry. So Scimsk would have to suffer. He was not a mining wher and wasn't fond of the close confines of the tunnels, even though the wher was barely a foot tall and not even two feet long. At a month there was considerable space for him to move about. He also didn't like that there was light inside the tunnels, although Scimi was keeping to the dimmer ones, as well as those less travelled. Sometimes the pair would find a section of passage that was entirely in the dark, yet it didn't bother either of them.
A bark echoed through the dim light, down the passage to them. Both handler and wher stopped in their tracks. Scimsk's reaction, true to his breed, was instantly aggressive. The little wher braced himself and let out a roar as reply. Small as he was the sound was still intimidating, and the echo of the tunnels caused the loud sound to repeat over and over. Instantly Scimi dropped into a crouch beside the wher.
"Shh, Scimsk, it's only a canine." She said softly as she stroked the odd body of her wher. Scimsk relaxed slightly, but continued with a quiet growl. Scimi pictured a canine for Scimsk as the wher filed away the information. That sound, that smell, that creature was a canine. From what he could glimmer from Scimi canine's were not an immediate threat. He could be wary, but could only be aggressive if the dog was aggressive first.
"Cnniiii..." The blue tested out the mangled word in his rumbly, croaking, voice.

Malidy jumped when the wher's roar echoed down the hall. Whoa, whatever that was sounded huge, and sorta scary. But the tall red head prided herself on not being afraid of anything, at least not beast wise. She called Vogal back to her
"Vogal here."
The pup trotted back to his trainer and walked at her side as curiosity got the better of her and she continued down the direction she thought the sound came from. They rounded a corner and there not far from them crouched a girl and a less than pleased looking and sounding creature. She'd never seen a wher before so the baby was new to her. Vogal made as if to go investigate but with a sharp order from Malidy he sat down but whined a little. She didn't want to get to close and either scare or anger either of the pair,
"Um hello," she said "I didn't realize anyone else was wondering around here. Am I not supposed to be here?"
she asked worried she had crossed some line that she wasn't supposed to have.

((Sorry I said dog in the last post and not canine, brain wasn't functioning quite right.))
Scimi managed to keep Scimsk quite calm by scratching him behind the ear. The wher let out a gurgling croon and tilted his head into the attention, shutting his eyes and momentarily forgetting the new creature wandering his territory. It clearly was not a problem or else his would not distract him. The blue wher was still young and apart from general curiosity did not feel the need to investigate the strange thing too closely. When he was older he would need to investigate everything new, but for now it was not such a pressing concern.
However when Malidy's voice sounded through the hall, much louder to the wher than it was the either human, Scimsk's ears shot up, swiveling in the direction of the sound. Opening his eyes again the wher turned his head the right way up and looked at Malidy and Vogal, not noticing the firelizard that accompanied them. He looked at Scimi, but did not sense any fear or unease from his handler. Scimsk was still very young and as was to be expected of a young creature did not understand what it was that Malidy was saying.
Scimi smiled at the candidate and used her free hand to wave away the problem. "No, no, you're allowed to be here. We were just learning some of the less used halls in case we ever need to come here." Convinced that Scimsk was successfully put at ease Scimi straightened up and allowed Scimsk to investigate. The little wher crept down the hall, which was a seemingly pointless exercise since he has already been seen. "Cnii." He said it with more confidence as he walked past the canine. Once he came to Malidy however confusion began.
"Wussi, wussi?" Scimsk repeated over and over as her circled the candidate. Raising his head he sniffed at the air, but seemed to receive no answer from that. "Gwar? Ki?" The first sound came as a questioning croak, soon followed by the second sound of a harsh click.
