As far as sparring went, Shun was starting off with a bit of a losing streak. His past two matches against Levi and Petro both ended up with him being knocked out more or less. They were certainly worthy opponents, but he couldn't help but feel a strong sense of disappointment in himself for losing. It could have been a closer match in both cases in his opinion. He tried to not let it get to him, but words spoken by his father in the past were echoing in his mind, reflecting times when he had lost in various scuffles he had gotten himself into in the past.
It frustrated him greatly, hearing his voice even if he was miles away. The Reaper could also almost hear the taunts of certain other individuals who enjoyed to talk him down.
Unable to deal with it any longer, the strong desire to make it so he couldn't lose his next fight hit him. Which was what brought him to the clubhouse today. Dismissing the rules regarding the buddy system, he had been spending the past several hours pushing himself as much as he could with minimal break times. It wasn't just today that he was doing this. It started a few days prior in fact. He didn't care if he was banned for it; he'd just find another place to do his work if it came down to it. The clubhouse just happened to be the most convenient place to be.
His body wasn't meant to take this sort of strain, and it was showing right now especially. Aside from the fact that his movements were slower, his hands were bandaged up around his knuckles, tainted red from having wailed at the bags more than he should have.
No. He wouldn't become a disappointment if he could help it.
In this sort of training overdrive he had been putting himself through, he had forgotten about the lessons he was going to give Mitsu as far as self defense with. Then again, he didn't really think he was really all that qualified to give such tips after losing twice to the students here. Clearly, this meant he was behind.

Mitsu knew that Shun hadn't been entirely pleased with his loss to Levi in their little sparring match she had stumbled upon. The reaper had seemed....grumpier than usual and Mitsu wasn't certain how to comfort him or if he would really accept such comfort from her. All she knew was that she was worried about him, though she really didn't know that his frustration also stemmed from another loss in a different sparring match.
With this worry plaguing her mind Mitsu made her way to the reaper dorms, books in hand ready for their usual study time. Coming up to the door the lupine knocked and waited but there was no answer nor anyone there at the door like there normally was. Instead there was silence which left Mitsu confused. He was usually here, what was up? Knocking again Mitsu waited though there still was no reply. Maybe he was...out?
Pulling out her phone Mitsu went to her contacts to select Shun's number to give him a call. Holding the phone up to the side of her head she listened and waited but there was no ring, it went directly to voice mail. Now she was really worried. Where could he be? Ears drooping a bit Mitsu put her phone away and stared at his door for a moment as if trying to decide what to do. Should she come back later? She had no idea when he might return or if he was even okay....no...she felt like she needed to look for him. But where to start?
Leaving the dorms Mitsu tried a couple of places starting with the cafeteria. Maybe he was just getting something to eat? But he wasn't there. Maybe he was in one of his classes working on a project? But he was in none of them. After searching the school up and down and even stopping by the library, which should have been an obvious no, Mitsu finally headed toward the fitness club room. Hopefully she would find the reaper there because by now she was anxious to find out if he was okay.
Upon first coming up to the door Mitsu could hear an odd smacking sound coming from inside the fitness clubroom. Clearly there was someone inside. Nervously Mitsu opened the door to peer in but didn't see Shun right away. It wasn't until she moved a bit further that she finally saw the reaper a bit further off wailing on a punching bag. Thank Jack! Relief almost washed over her. He was okay. Or so she thought.
Not saying anything yet Mitsu began to approach, gripping the straps of her school bag. She wondered how long Shun had been here. It wasn't like him to not call to let her know he had something else to do.

Shun's focus was completely on the punching bag at the moment, so much that he didn't notice that Mitsu was standing nearby. As far as he knew, he was still alone in the clubhouse. Breathing heavily, he brought up a leg to kick the bag before following up with a punch. His face scrunched up a bit as his bloodied fist hit the bag, but he did what he could to ignore it.
However, his body decided it was a good time to buckle as he went to kick again, causing him to stumble into the hanging weight. Gritting his teeth, he hissed in pain and exhaustion, muttering low curses to himself in the process. He took a few moments before straightening up, staring hard at the bag. Now wasn't the time to stop. He was certain of this.
With a grunt, he continued to strike the bag, though his movements seemed to get progressively slower as his body was feeling heavier and heavier. Damn this body.

Mitsu's ears gave a twitch feeling that the hits Shun was making sounded a little off like the bag was wet. It wasn't until Mitsu got closer that she realized Shun was bleeding. She was so shocked at first that she didn't say anything, only baring witness to the fact that Shun was beating the bag until his hands were passed the point of being raw. When he finally stumbled from exhaustion she was brought out of her stupor with a concerned gasp.
"S..Shun?" Trotting up to the reaper as he cursed before continuing, Mitsu reached out to place a hand on his arm but it was difficult since he was moving. "S..Shun what are you doing? You're bleeding you need to stop." The fact that he was slowing down only told her he had been at this for a while....a long while. Probably much longer than his body was wanting to deal with.

At first, Shun hadn't even registered that he was being spoken to. Not until Mitsu had said his name for the second time and had actually touched his arm. He paused and glanced to her, breathing heavily. However, he just shifted away so that she wouldn't be so close and continued to strike the bag.
"Not stopping..." he uttered between breaths, sounding a little more quiet than usual due to his fatigue and breathlessness, "Gotta keep going.."

He had stopped and for a moment Mitsu though he was done but he merely shifted away from her touch and continued doing what he had been doing....which was wailing on the punching bag mercilessly. "But you're hurt!" She squeaked seeing now just had bad his hands were.
Mitsu tried to reach out again to take hold of his arm. Shun even sounded tired. He needed to rest and give his body time to recover. "Why are you pushing yourself so hard?"

"Pain's just a part of training..." he hissed as he struck the bag again. While not quite false, the way he was pushing himself was a bit beyond the normal 'burns' people felt when working.
As Mitsu took his arm, Shun paused again and glanced to her. His hand and arm were shaking and twitching slightly out of muscle fatigue and just keeping them in place was a little hard to do.
"I'm too far behind," he said lowly, "I won't let myself be worthless.. now let go of me so I can continue."

"M..maybe but not to this extent," Mitsu whimpered. She could at least guess that much.
When Shun told her to let go though, Mitsu hesitated. She frowned behind her mask remembering what the reaper had told her at open house. That she needed to stand up for herself more. Well, that was about to come back and haunt Shun as her grip only tightened. "No..." Okay, so her words weren't as confident but it was still something. "You shouldn't push yourself this hard you need to rest." She insisted, her voice filled with worry.

Shun had expected Mitsu to back away, but instead, noticed that her grip tightened on his arm. Furrowing his brow, he turned a little more towards the girl. Since he was now not doing really anything and allowing his muscles to relax, he noticed his body growing heavier as it wanted to move less and less.
Because of this, when he tried to tug away... it was really kind of a pitiful attempt.
"I'm not weak.." he hissed, "I don't .. .need rest.."

Mitsu's grip had remained strong until Shun tried to tug away. While it was a pitiful attempt, Mitsu let his arm slip from her grasp. "You're not weak." Mitsu tried to reassure. "But you do need rest." She tried to sound firm in her stance on the matter but she really wasn't certain how well she was doing.

When her grip loosened, Shun's arm pretty much just dropped down to his side. His body was wanting desperately to lay down, if not sit, but he was still doing what he could to fight against the urges. Mitsu's words were not helping with that either.
"N-no.. I can't..." he murmured quietly though he was sounding a little less certain of it, "I need.. to keep going."

"Shun.." His name almost sounded like a whine. Reaching up Mitsu pushed her mask up, her large crimson eyes full of concern as they came into view. "You've already pushed yourself too much." She had no idea he words were only making the reaper more stubborn. The lycan was just trying to talk reason to her friend. "Please just....come back to your dorm to rest for a bit." He looked like he was ready to drop and if he did....Mitsu was screwed.
"Please?" She asked again, staring up at the reaper with those puppy like eyes.

For a moment or so, Shun stared as he saw the look on her face. She looked... very worried right now. It kind of confused him to an extent really. A part of him didn't really understand why she seemed so concerned. What also confused him was that he was actually considering what she was saying. He didn't really get it.
As a result, he just sort of stood there, unsteadily, unsure what to do.
".. Why.. does it matter..?" he finally said after a bit. At home, there was the chance that what he was doing now wasn't enough. It was always 'push harder'. The very fact that he was hearing someone pleading him to take it easy was... very foreign.

Mitsu almost looked hurt when Shun asked why it even mattered. Did he still not understand that concern for your friends was part of the deal? "It matters because you are my friend and I worry about you." The lupine said honestly. "What would you do if you saw me like this?" She asked pointing at his bloody hands.
With a light sigh she reached out for his arm again. "There's no reason you should push yourself so hard. Please come back to the dorm?" Hopefully if she pressed the matter he would come otherwise she was going to have to be creative....and she wasn't really sure how to go about that.

Shun found himself befuddled once more.
"I..." he started, but she had him there. He did not want to see her battered and exhausted. He knew that much. So now he was even more conflicted on the matter. Half wanted to keep pushing himself, while the other wanted to listen to Mitsu.
"This... this is how it's always been.." he murmured, swaying a bit as he stood there.
