Kinja could not ignore the bulging in her abdomen. As much as she wished it not to be true, she knew that tiny lives were forming within her and there was nothing she could do. The run in with that big brute of a male had taken it's toll and now Kinja, the once proud lioness of the Firekin and mate to Kiu was nothing more than a rogue forced to carry the children of a lion she didn't even know the name of. It tore at he heart knowing that Kiu could see her in the heavens and was probably disgusted with what she had become, what she would be forced to care for. But, despite the horrible flow of guilt and dirtiness that ran through her, Kinja couldn't help but feel somewhat relieved. She would now have something to live for. There would be comething that would rely on her being there for it and her motherly instincts would not neglect it. Now, Kinja would have something to live for and not just live the rest of her life out by roaming the lands as nothing more than a waste of space. She would have a purpose.
The yellowing vegetation of the savanna licked at her body as she manuvered through the tall grass. She treaded carefully, making sure that she crossed no boundaries or arouse no suspicion of others. With tiny lives in her she could not risk getting into any confrontation. A pang of pain ran through her body and she paused momentarily before sighing. The little ones were on their way. Thankfully she had already chosen a place to give birth and the large tree was in sight.
Upon ariving to to the tree the sun had set beyond the horizon. It was the perfect time to give birth as the darkness would help hide her and her unborn young ones away. As the stars began to litter the deep blue sky Kinja slipped into the abandoned den that had been hallowed out. The entrance was under a large root which had crested above the earth before descending into it's darkness of dirt. The den sat pretty far back and smelt faintly of the wild dogs which had once inhabited it.
The contractions had progressively got stronger and Kinja prepared herself for the tough time of labor. She was not prepared though for the pain the cubs would bring...
The first cub began to come out and with each push Kinja began to realize the size of the cub. Surely there could not be many if they were this large? With each breath she pushed and with each push the cub inched out a bit more until it finally escaped its mother and lay on the ground. Without pause Kinja picked up her offspring and began to clean it off. It was clearly a boy and his fur was of an amazing deep gray that looked nearly black in its wet form. She couldn't tell but he appeared to have little spots on his back and the tell tale sign of a stripe running along his back. He certainly got that from her. Before she had much time to ponder the prescence of another cub made itself known.
The second cub to come was much more of a problem. It was almost like it did not want to leave its mothers womb and Kinja struggled desperatly to give birth to it. She huffed and grunted a few times as her muscles pushed the large form out of her until finally she freed it from her body. Taking a moment to catch her breath she turned and promptly cleaned up her second born son. What surprised her was the golden fur that graced his body and the markings that looked so much like her own before Hestia's handy work. Had something gone wrong with Hestia's spell or was there something else at play when her first litter was conceived? She would never know.
As her two little boys began to suckle Kinja's body tensed a third time. The birth of her daughter was of greater ease then her two sons. She was much smaller in stature. Apparently the boys were somewhat of gluttons when it came to nnourishment but the little dark gold female was healthy. Kinja cleaned her off marveling over the dark spots that littered the little ones back and, yet again, a stripe adorned her. Carefully, she picked the little lass up and placed her near her brothers so she could stay warm and suckle.
The blood hued lioness watched her three cubs. "None of you have the crimson red fur." She mused to herself. "But that's all the better. Now, to name you."
She pondered over each cub carefully. She was selective with the names since her last litter she was limited to names pertaining to the desert or fire. Now she had free reign and the names were not hard to come by. Her first born would be Hakan'Mawasii. She smiled faintly at the name. Fire Guardian would suit him well with the way he huddled against her side as if to protect her from anything that may attack.
The golden boy was very much like herself in color, well, if the illusion was off that is. Yes, he was a perfect replica of herself minus the green eyes, thus why he would be dubbed Kamal which means perfectiong. Nothing else would suit him any more.
And lastly, her little daughter who silently laid by her side having finished with her meal. Kinja smiled softly. Kimya'Ukilia would be her name which held the strong meaning of silent purpose.
These cubs were Kinja's purpose to keep on living and to care. They would save her and she would make sure to not let them down. She was prepared to start a new life with the new lives at her side.

Darkness, but something strange. Now was not like it was before, this was something different. He wasn't warm anymore. He was doing things he had never wanted to do- for a moment he had just let himself take in some strange sort of suction from the new place he was in, but like a drug, he could no longer stop breathing. It confused him, for suddenly it was such a necessity that even holding it for too long caused his tiny little pink mouth to open wide and gape with tiny nubbed teeth. He was cold on one side, which was different too. With a strangled groan he pulled himself closer to the only scent he could identify- the smell of milk, and the smell of Mother. Gasping again and shaking his tiny frail neck about, he vaguely shoved against the little black cub, attempting to steal the n****e away from him. This was his, damnit. Who were these wriggling scents anyways? Hadn't it just been him so long ago?
The one to his left, the last one who had been added, did well to keep his other side warm. Perhaps they were there to keep him warm. Well, he'd just have to deal with them, he supposed, and gave out another disgusted cry when he could not blindly shove the other lump away. As if there were not enough nipples the small cub continued his whining, little pink rimmed eyes shut against his wrinkled face, and tiny paws stretched forward in horror. Oh! How unfair this world was already! Put him back inside!

One little female was delighted to finally be free of the darkness. While it was safe, secure, and warm, she was anxious to escape the confines of their living shelter.
There were a few unplesant sensations, cold, wetness, vast space, all of these things foreign to her. Was she out? She couldn't open her eyes to see, couldn't feel anything but cold floor under her sensitive underbelly. It had been mother's warm tongue that soothed her into remaining silent, and after feeding, the little female gave a soft mewling sound and pulled in closer to her older brother's for warmth. She couldn't do anything about her cold backside though. Oh well, best be grateful for what she had. She couldn't wait until she could see the owner of that warm and gentle tongue...

Toppled into a dark, cold world.
Forced into the unknown.
The strangely large newborn cub raised his blind face to gaze around, his tiny nose sniffling at the cool night air as he tried to understand his surroundings. The warmth of the bodies around him gave comfort despite their insistent wriggling and he let himself be consumed, until he became almost convinced he was back inside the womb. It was only when he heard the mewing of the other cubs beside him that he knew something had changed. Was this what he and his silbings had been waiting for? With a sudden feeling of contentment he reached out with his tiny forepaws, kneading against his mother's stomach before settling down once more.
Then after a moment of listening to his siblings he realised that he too had a voice in which to cry with and his tiny jaws parted. He was mildly surprised by the strength of the keening which he could make and would continue to cry until his mother gave him the attention he thought he deserved.

Her little ones caused a smile to sweep across her face. Their tiny mewlings and little stretches were more than enough to make her heart melt. The tiny pushes on her stomach got her to lean her head down to the tiny cubs her tongue running over the back of each one. She didn't realize how much she missed this until she was face with the tiny wrinkled face of cubs again. How sweet and innocent they were. She only hoped they would keep such qualities but knew deep inside that they would change and age with each passing day.
Wanting to give them the most warmth she curled her body around them so she touch the exposed sides of the two outer cubs. Blue orbs watched the wriggling bodies and the mewed and pushed at one another to get as much milk as possible. Their little maws dripped with the warm white liquid that would sustain them for quite some time. Noticing the little squabbling going on Kinja nosed her son towards another teet that was unoccupied. There was more than enough to go around so there was no use in the fighting for nutrition.

The golden cub squirmed somewhat as his mother's large face suddenly leaned down, and nudged his little body away from tussling with his brother's. What was this? He reeled back and whined before blindly nodding his head against his mother's belly, and greedily finding a n****e and holding fast to it. Once this had been accomplished, he seemed to settle as his belly filled, although he kept his tiny hindquarters squirming. Hindquarters? He pulled from the n****e with a slight bubble, and started to carry on again. Oh god, there was something behind him squirming, and it moved his entire body! Wheezing he hiccupped and shivered as all the mewing began to wear him out. It wasn't until it was his turn to be gently stroked with his mother's rough tongue that he realized that the little squiggling appendages behind him just might be attached to him. He took a slow deep breath and willed them to stop, and when they did, he collapsed against his mother's side and went back to nursing.

Kimya mewled instinctively with delight at having her backside warmed. Contradictory to her brother's thinking, Kimya was already greatly enjoying being closer to the big warmth from the outside as opposed to in. Sure there were strange things like her gurgling stomach and all this moving, and the other two squirming lumps of warmth, but there was also food and a sense of being safe.
The little female fed for a bit longer, uninterrupted, and once she was done her face fell away, bumping her chin to the floor and nosing her way closer to definite heat sources. Once she found them in the forms of the two males that preceeded her in the birthing process, and mother's protective circle of body-heat, the little she allowed exhaustion to take hold of her, her body stopping all on it's own with just the ocassional twitch as sleep came.

Mawasii wiggled his little bottom, tail swaying back and forth as his minature form moved closer to his mother. The feeling of her rough tongue against his back making him feel rather drowsy as he wriggled between his siblings to try and feed at a better angle.
His dark, speckled form contrasted greatly against his siblings golden ones making him easily identifiable. However he wasn't aware of this, he knew only of the warmth, comfort and security he felt wrapped within the circle of his mother's body.
He paused in his feeding only when the feeling of fatigue swept over him, paws still kneading as he pulled his hindlegs up underneath him to fall into a comfortable and happy sleep.

Morning rose upon the land and the blood hued lioness stepped forth from the den just as the sun weithdrew from it's hiding spot to warm the savanna. Kinja was ready to face a brand new day, a day that would bring many trials and headaches she was sure for today would be the first day for her little ones to explore the world they were brought into. A world where only she was their protector. It would certainly be hard, Kinja still sometime awoke thinking she was safe among a pride, yet that was far from the case. She was alone, alone to raise her new litter. She'd be damned if anything happened to her little ones even if it meant....if it meant she returned to the pridelands. That would, of course, require more thought for she was unsure what to do at this point. She was truly never really alone before in her life.
Taking a deep breath of morning air, cool blue eyes gazed back to the den where she could see two pairs of blue eyes accompanied by a pair of green gazing back at her. With a chuckled she turned around and stepped up to the den's entrance. "Well are you coming out? Surely you're not afraid?" No, her little boys weren't, Kinja knew that. They had a strong fiery spirit, but her daughter on the otherhand...well...she wasn't quite sure yet how she would react to a world so unfamiliar to her.

"Let me out, let me out!" came a sudden burst of noise from in the darkness. There was the sound of obvious squabbling, when from the mouth of the den, a small gold cub came- half climbing over the bodies of his siblings, and sputtering out into the bright light. At once his bright green eyes widened in surprise as light flooded into them, and he had to turn his head somewhat to shield his face from the brunt of it. It had not been more then a few weeks since their birth, and already the children had changed somewhat. What had once been a small screaming golden cub had transformed into a slightly louder, slightly larger child. He was rather tall for males his age, but despite the milk his mother had fed them during the process of the denning period, he was very lean. A scruffy tuff of black fuzz had already started to grow upon his head- much like his brother's. His whiskers were scraggly and black, and overall he had the appearance a bit of a ruffian- but despite his demand to go outside, he really was rather afraid about it all. He was still the tiny cub who had wanted to go back inside his mother, so long ago. With perhaps the most sour look known to cubs, he paraded himself forward, his long tail sticking straight into the air. "I'm not afraid!" He retorted simply, and sat down beside his mother's blood colored body in a flop. Kamal, whom had realized by now that mother wasn't going to let him go exploring without his brother or sister, turned around grudgingly to await the emergence of his elder brother and sister. "Come on! You're not scared!" He demanded to the hole, his tail twitching. Privately, he looked aside to his mother, and nudged her with the end of his paw. "Aw, Mom- it ain't so great, I think." He gave a rather adorable scowl. "Come on!" He called again to the den, before looking back at Kinja. "There's too much blue, I like the den." He continued.

Her brother was far too bossy, Kimya had already decided this. She didn't complain because it wasn't worth fussing over. She really didn't say anything at all most of the time. She was almost easily mistaken for mute but for the ocassional words she chose to speak when conversing with her family.
She squeaked as Kamal all but stepped on her head to escape, shooting a silent and rare pout after her older sibling. She was curious too, but that was hardly any reason to trample them!
She took a bit more caution as she emerged, eyes narrowed as they adjusted to the drastic difference of lighting. Rich brown and cream blended from her toes to her underbelly. She seemed to have bags under her eyes of the same tawny coloration, and she bore a black mask over her face and eyes. She looked back to her remaining older brother as if to ask if he was coming also, but afterwards trotted over to her mother's side and brushed against one of her legs.
Everything was so rich and vibrant out here, not at all dark and drab like within the den. Even though it was warm and she liked it just fine, she'd often been curious of the splashes of blues and whites beyond the entrance. Now she purred loudly as she took in her first breaths of fresh air. Yes. She rather liked the outdoors.

The black cub gave a yip of annoyance as his brother scuttled over him to escape into the wide world, irritated by the fact that his younger brother always seemed to get the better of him.
"Not scared!" He replied with a frown, leaping forwards out of the den and shaking his fur which had become messed up by his brother's scrabbling paws. "Mama! Tell Kamal to stop being such an eejit!" He stuck his tongue out at the golden-furred brother and stomped forwards through the dirt to where his crimson parent stood, taking the time to rub against her foreleg. A purr rumbling from his throat, large blue eyes closing as he enjoyed the contact and the brush of warm fur.
Then after a moment he turned to gaze up into the sky, mouth gaping, "what's the fluffy stuff up there mama?" He jumped on the tips of his paws, before turning to look at his other siblings. So many new smells, so much stuff to do. His mind was strangely overwhelmed and he could'tt stay still. Then as his eyes settled upon Kamal he knew it was pay back time!
With a squeaky and playful growl ripping from his throat, Hakan'Mawasii threw himself at his brother, intent on knocking the younger sibling off his paws.
