Nintendo is dropping the price of the 3DS to $169.99 (U.S.). This is great news...for those of us without a 3DS, or those of us planning to buy one for a friend, but what do the owners of the $249.99 3DS get from this? Nothing, you would think, but Nintendo is stepping up to make us feel special. By the end of 2011 we should all - those of this that have signed in to the e-Shop before August 11th, that is - have 20 free virtual console games, not available on the 3DS' e-Shop, until later in the year. So, yeah, anyone here who has opened the 3DS' e-Shop will be getting early access and a free download of 10 NES games, and 10 GBA* games. *Note = The GBA titles are not slated to appear on the e-Shop at this time, so we will be the only ones with them.Source

Since mine was stolen this price drop would be good for me, and as of next week I'll have enough money to buy a 3ds for $250. I really want to buy one now to take advantage of the Ambassador thingy, but if I do I'll be left without enough money to attend an anime convention in the coming months. dilemma: Price drop+games for Spotpassing at the convention or Ambassador rewards?

Honestly, I paid nearly $300 for my 3Ds (with the tax).
And, let's be realistic, anyone can get those 20 games for free with an emulator (but it wouldn't be right).
So $80 ($130 for me) worth of games isn't something too be too happy about. Now I can understand those are good games and they;ll be exclusive to loyal customers (Gba at least).
One last thing, what if you bought a 3Ds a few days before the change, gave it back to the shop for a refund and bought it after the price drop? 20 free games and a low price. Dx (Actually I heard of someone who got it at a low price already)
Sigh...well I hope we get Pokemon (Leaftgreen) in the Gba and Advance wars. ^ ^

Alright, yeah, it would be nice if Nintendo gave us the money back, but one counter-point is that GBA games are un-playable on the 3DS, and this may be the only way to play them on it. Actually, if Nintendo sent an email asking what each individual person wanted instead of the games, that would be cool too. Like, if it had the options of: Money-back rebate, Club Nintendo Points, The games, or Early access to an upcoming title. I don't know, maybe that's just me...

- To tell the truth, buying a System at the launch always has it's risks. This was an example of one of the risks, but I'm fine with it.

I still own an actual GBA, but I've lost a couple of my favorite games on it. Hopefully I'll be able to get those games. ^^
