The garden had really grown into a thing of beauty under Edmund's careful attention. He'd tried not to let it get too big since he'd never really received permission to start a garden on the school grounds but no one had complained. It would seem strange that someone would find a reason to be unhappy about it.
He had made little paths out of mulch that wound through the flowers and vegetables he'd planted so that people could walk through and enjoy whatever seemed to be in bloom at the moment. He'd found a good variety of flowers and tried to pick things that bloomed at different times of the year so there would be flowers most of the time. He'd also been careful to pick flowers that smelled as well as looked wonderful and the garden was surrounded by a pleasant perfume. Throughout the garden there were some glass decorations that Aiden had made that caught the sun.
Currently Edmund was hauling a set of metal tables and chairs that was meant to be outdoors to the garden. He thought it might be nice to study out there or maybe sit with a friend and talk. Secretly he thought it might be a nice place for a pair of lovers to sit and talk in the evening. He'd picked out a plain black t-shirt and some old jeans to wear since he was planning to dig around a bit and maybe pick some vegetables today.

Meanwhile, walking through the garden and enjoying what was in bloom was exactly what Sorrel was doing. The colourful girl ambled through the woven paths with a faint smile on her lips, hands clasped loosely behind her, stopping every so often to get a better look at a flower. She had walked through this garden many times before, but she usually didn't get to do so with such leisure. She found that now that she had the time to, with some free time on her hands due to classes not yet having gotten into full swing, she was really enjoying it. It was a beautiful garden, and momentarily she wondered who tended it with such care.
The girl was in the middle of inhaling the scent of a particularly large flower when a scraping sound caught her attention, and she looked up to see a boy who looked to be about her age dragging a rather heavy-looking table into a clearing in the garden. She took note of his attire - clothes that would be easy to work in - and wondered if he was the one who tended it. He looked like he could use some help, in any case. She straightened to her feet and adjusted the hem of her shirt.
"Hey," Sorrel called, beginning to walk over in his direction. "Need help with that?"

Edmund paused suddenly as he heard someone call out to him. The tension in his arms and shoulders softened as he let go of the table he'd been dragging to turn and peer at the girl who had called to him. He squinted a bit in the sun to try to get a better look at her but he wasn't entirely sure who it was. It seemed to him that he'd seen her with Adeline at the Halloween party, but he'd been at a distance and never formally introduced. He did think she looked pretty in the sunlight though.
"Oh um... thanks! That would be really nice actually. Thank you." He knew he could manage it on his own if he needed to but he thought it was a good chance to meet a friend. "I'm just trying to get it over to that spot." He pointed over to where he was aiming for. He realized in a slightly embarrassed moment he hadn't offered his name and a light blush came to his cheeks. "And uh my name is Edmund, I probably should mention that..." He gave a soft slightly embarrassed sounding chuckle.

"Hey, no problem." Sorrel laughed lightly as she took hold of the end of the table opposite the other teen. "Hello Edmund! My name's Sorrel. Nice to meet you." Edmund... the name sounded familiar, and she felt like she had seen his face somewhere, but she couldn't place where that might have been. She wasn't about to comment on it though, at least not at that particular moment. The school was a big place, and they had a table to move after all, and she thought she had seen a few other pieces of furniture in the direction he had been coming from that he might want to put with it. It might come up later, anyway.
Bracing herself, Sorrel said, "Ready? Three... two... up!" and lifted her end of the table, starting to walk it to the little space in the garden he had pointed out.
