Ever since I came out as lesbian, my mother has thought that I was transgendered and keeps making references to transgendered people "subtly." sweatdrop She thinks it's weird when I want to wear a tie or a vest (for school, as my school has uniform policy), and keeps asking if I'm trans. I didn't think it was weird to want to wear those things, and I don't really think of myself as transgendered or a cross dresser. I dunno, has this ever happened to you? And do you have any advice for me?

Apparently, she suspected that I was either trans, or gay, or both, since I was a little girl, and thoughts of me being transgendered only increased when I came out as lesbian. Thoughts?

She's your mom! She should know you don't have a d**k!

Dressing that way doesn't sound weird. I suspect that my mom might think similar things because of some things I wear sometimes, or that I usually cosplay as men. And other people, they probably think that way but don't say anything. I don't really know what to say. The only advice I can really give is to just be yourself, she'll realize that you're not eventually. Some people just take time to accept things that aren't what they thought.

when people say crappy things, I think of my favorite song lyrics from Lola,

"Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world"

it always helps me out

anyway, my mom was in denial when i first told her. it was funny. i thought my dad would deny it, but he was fully accepting right away

Lol seriously she should know what you have. How can she not when she changed you as a kid? XD

And I guess I have. My family doesn't like my long hair and always says I look like a girl.

Okaaaay, I feel as if people are unaware of trans-gendered people are. It doesn't matter what you have it's what you want to have.

Your mom just sounds uneducated on the topic. She doesn't seem to understand sexuality other than heterosexuality (and maybe some homosexuality). Just explain to her EXACTLY what your feelings are. Tell her you're a woman who enjoys other women and not a man trapped inside of a woman's body :p

Well, I always want to dress up in guy clothes... mostly the suits and those cool collared t-shirts.... even though I'm straight-ish. lol So it's not weird at all! Your mom is weird. What time is she living in? the 1900s?
PostPosted: Thu Aug 04, 2011 8:40 pm

I don't think ties have anything to do with being transgender... I wear them all the time as a fashion thing, and some boy clothes too and I don't consider myself transgender. Maybe you should just tell your mom that this is your style and it has nothing to do with dressing like a guy. Just be yourself and don't let anyone push you down! 3nodding

I'm Pansexual, and I LOVE huge sweaters and guy's cardigans and wear girly boxers to bed. I also like guys in skinny jeans and with longer hair, but I am not trans gendered at all. I'm pretty proud of my woman hood smile Just be YOU dear, and let your mom know who that is smile
