"World, why are you so sweet to me?" Oh, yes, life was good and just indeed. The store's last copy of the last season of Battlestar Galactica, for 70% off, and it was in her hands. It fell under the category of their much larger sale, a blow-out of all their Sci-Fi novels, DVDs, and comics, and now Kess knew, without a doubt, what she'd be spending the next week doing.
Lurking in her house, probably in her underwear, eating delivery and watching back to back episodes until her eyes dried out. It was just so good.
As she meandered away from the TV Show section of the store, DVD set firmly clenched in hand, she caught sight of a younger guy that looked pretty familiar...
"Yo, Sea Bass!" A reckless grin spread across her wide mouth as she interrupted whatever it was he was doing by one of the shelves, and strode on over. It'd been awhile, but she'd sat in on a game of table-top once with him and his friends on a delivery, when they'd been a fellow short. To Kess, that was more than enough reason to greet him, especially with the nickname she'd called him the entire time.
He went to DCU, didn't he? Yeah.

There was a sale. On books. On science fiction books. Yes, Sebastian was at the store, said appearance surprising basically no one who knew him. Matthew had made a comment about running out of room for bookcases, a comment the brunette loftily ignored as unworthy of reply. He had a stack of novels in one of the shopping baskets, mostly things that had either gotten too worn from rereading, or things he'd been meaning to pick up at some point but never had so why not pick them up now.
He'd set a limit at ten books, though there were probably closer to fifteen in the basket when he finally pried himself away to head to the checkout. He was about halfway to the front of the store when his two least favorite words reached him. A grimace crossed his face, but it was gone when he turned to face whoever had called his nickname. "Hey Kess," he replied, her name having easily stuck in his head. "What'd you get?" he asked with a small nod to the DVD's clutched in her hands.

Eventually, however, her gaze flicked over his basket, brows high. She recognized a title or two, that was certain. "What've you got, there?" Quite the stack, it seemed.

He looked suitably appreciative and impressed, giving her a quick thumbs up and a smile. "Nice find," he complimented while looking slightly wistful when they were pulled back. He'd torrented the series, sure, but it wasn't nearly the same as owning the DVD's, something he'd slowly started doing.
"Replacements mostly," he answered cheerfully. "Broke the spine on a few books from over-reading, and now pages are falling out. Very distracting." He cocked an eyebrow at her, curious. "What've you been up to lately?" Other than the one game, he'd only seen her in passing, maybe, while at school. Which was a little odd; Sebastian was ordering stuff off the Internet on an almost daily basis. Then again, most of it shipped UPS or FedEx, not post.

"Working," She shrugged, grinning. "A lot, actually. I'm only part-time at DCU, this semester, so, I haven't been on campus much." She also didn't live on campus, like many of the students, or in the apartment complexes particularly close by. It was an easy rollerblade, or bike, trip, sure, but she also had her side-business and her shadier work at night to take care of. Stil...
"If you need another player for a game or two, though, I'd be down." She raised an eyebrow, then reached for her phone, tucked in the back pocket of her jeans. "Don't think I have your number. Want mine?"
All work and no play made Kess a dull girl!

"Makes sense," he said with a shrug. He didn't have a job, exactly; he had a work study sort of thing with a professor that helped with incidental expenses (like the books he was now buying), but his parents seemed fine with footing most of his major bills. Sebastian was, however, aware of how lucky he'd been to have parents willing to do that.
"That'd be great, actually." He ran a hand through his hair and frowned a bit in thought. "I know the next campaign won't start until October or so, when our DM gets back." He shrugged again and dug in his pocket for his phone. "Oh, uh, sure." That made sense. How else were they supposed to get in touch with her?
Sebastian Drake might be logical and intelligent, but there were times he was decidedly lacking in common sense.

Kesslan had lived with her Uncle, and he'd died two years prior. Of course, he'd left her the house, and she wasn't one of those 'wallow in sorrow' types, so she did well enough.
She gave the boy her number, not bothering to keep amusement from her tone [did he not get numbers often, then?], and tapped him into her contacts. October wasn't far away, after all, and she could use the entertainment. Kess could always use more entertainment.
Now, of course, was when things became a little awkward, as they didn't know each other well enough to 'hang out' without something to focus on, and both were in the middle of something else.
"What kind of campaigns do y'all run?" It was an idle question, as she looked at the back of a book, before replacing it. As he answered, she made a noncommittal sound, nodding, then jerked a thumb toward the registers. "Cool. I'd better jet, I've got work soon." A grin, then, as she sauntered away.
