Skada had really lucked out this time! She had met a group of really sketchy characters on her last trip to the roguelands, and they had some enslaved wild dogs with them. Unfortunately she didn't carry anything good enough for trading, but she still stopped to talk to the group to see if she could negotiate anything. It turned out they were in desperate need of new blood for their slave breeding... And Skada could give them that! After a quick trip back to the elephant graveyard where she had argued her case, she returned to their agreed meeting point with one of their slave wild dogs in tow. He was getting a bit old, and wasn't of much use to the Mava'bunda anymore, but she still managed to negotiate a trade for some of their stock. Not one pup. Two of them! The two pups were related to many of the females apparently, so they wouldn't be good for breeding.
The small one wouldn't be very useful yet, but they would grow, right? And hopefully there wouldn't be any nasty surprises. Like, say... the surprise they would get when they learned that the old wild dog they had traded for was almost deaf.
"Keep walking you two!" she said as she herded the pink and the brown pup towards the pride lands, "We'll be there soon."The brown pup was not used to walking far, and he was starting to grow tired. Normally his mom or someone else would carry him by the scruff, but he wasn't sure he wanted to be carried by the large hyena. He wasn't even sure what was happening at the moment, but he had been told to follow the 'nice lady'.
"Im tired," he said and sat down, "Are you my new mommy?""Your mommy?" Skada said with disbelief, "Ew... No! You are a slave and a dog, how could I possibly be your mother? That means you do what I tell you. Mooove!"

Damu couldn't help but feel a little depressed as he stood next to his old masters. He glanced out across land he had come to know and then off toward the way the strange female had come from- lands he had never seen before. What was the pack like? He knew he was being sold, along with the little one, in exchange for a new, older male. He understood why- there were not enough non-related slaves anymore. He even figured out that the old slave was deaf (it wasn't that hard to tell, he was constantly tilting his head to one side). What he couldn't figure out was what he had done wrong. Why, of all the slaves in the old pack, must he be one of the ones sold? Hadn't he been good? Hadn't he listened? Hadn't he helped enough?
He shook it off as they started the journey towards his new home, with his new mistress. Well, if he hadn't been good enough before, he would make sure he was good enough this time! He would be extra helpful and be very fast about his work. He would give his masters no reason to sell him again!
When the little one spoke, he didn't pay attention at first, only stopping because the strange hyena stopped. Realizing what was happening (a dog, being a pup to a hyena? Hadn't this one learned anything!), he sidled up to the young one. Tail tucked tight, ears back submissively and practically crawling on his belly, he approached with eyes downcast, "Please, Ma'am, he is very young. I will try to carry him a little ways while he catches his breath, so he does not slow you down." Trying to keep the humility in his voice he went on, "I am very strong from work, and can carry him far enough until he can walk again."

Hanja felt the tension in the air, and realised he had done something wrong. And, well... the shouting from the black and white lady-thing was a dead giveaway too. He wanted to go back to his mommy, but he didn't say that. Instead he lowered his ears and started sobbing quietly. It did feel a bit better that Damu was protecting him, but he couldn't quite stop the sobbing. All the newness of the day was confusing, and it was starting to get scary too.
Little pinky knew his place at least, but she had to bite back a laugh as he offered to carry the other pup. Sure, he was bigger than the tiny brown one, but it would still be awkward at best. Lil brownie was starting to make annoying noises too, so it was tempting to take him up on that offer. If nothing else she'd get a good laugh out of it if he failed. She ignored the sobbing since she figured it wouldn't go away with more shouting.
"All right," she said, "Go on and carry him."
She watched the pair of them intently, wondering how this would go over. Honestly, she didn't expect much.
((You may let Damu carry/try to carry Hanja. He will not resist and will try to help if he can.))

Damu wasn't exactly sure that he could carry the pup, even if the little one was younger and smaller than him. Still, he had to try. He would not be traded off again- he would be good to his new mistress and do anything he could to ensure that she was content with his service.
He gave a quick bow of his head to the hyena before turning to the pup, keeping his voice soft, he tried to soothe him, "You've got to help me do this. I can carry you a little ways, but you must help and then you must walk. You wouldn't want her to hurt me or you, would you?" he asked, assessing the little one before stepping close. "When I get you on my back, you mustn't move too much, or you'll make me fall."
Sticking his nose under the other pup, he wormed his way under until he could shimmy him down to his shoulders and back. Taking a deep breath, he got his legs under himself, and pushed up, coming unsteadily to his feet. By the pack! He would try to make it as far as he could. He took a wobbly step forward, followed by another, and another. He would do this...
((Sorry if I took a little too much, it's kinda hard to RP this with any sort of length to the posts. You're welcome to take some liberties. I don't expect Damu to carry him the whole way, just for a little while.))

Hanja nodded and then tried to help as much as he could as Damu somehow managed to lift him. He tried to will himself to become lighter, and remembered what he had been told about not moving too much. He found that he had to move a little, to keep his balance, and he hoped it was okay to do so. At least the concentration of staying balanced made him forget all about crying.
"Thank you," he said quietly, so that the hyena wouldn't hear. He was a bit embarrassed by the whole ordeal, and he felt bad that Damu had to carry him. He could hear and feel his laboured breathing so he knew this wasn't easy.
Well, look at that. The pink pup had actually managed to get the brown one on his back. Now, would he be able to stand up with that burden? He sure did, but it didn't look easy... Skada sat down to watch the spectacle for a while. The pink slave actually managed to transport the two of them -very slowly- in the right direction. But they didn't move much faster than if the small one had walked on his own. It was amusing to watch, but it didn't really get them anywhere. Oh, bother. She really wanted to get home today.
"Fine," she barked and trotted up next to the two slaves, "You know how to carry him. Good job. But I want to get home today, so I'll do the carrying for a while."
She laid down and motioned with her head towards her back. They could 'ride' for a little bit and no one would know about it as long as she made them walk the last bit when they started to get close to the border.
"Get up," she said, "And if you speak about this with anyone when we get there I'll skin you and make a nice bag."

His determination gave him heart, and he didn't realize just how slow they were going until the heyna stopped at sat down to watch them. Why wasn't he bigger? If he was full grown, he could pick up the pup and trot back home with it. Curse him for being so small! No- he would get big and strong. Yes. That's how he would keep his new mistress happy.
When the heyna crouched and gave them the orders to climb up, he was dumbfounded. He was quick to obey (more because of instinct than though), though utterly bewildered by the whole thing. Damu crouched down and helped the pup roll off his back, then nudged him forward towards their waiting ride. One ear up, one ear cocked to the side, he waited to climb up until the small pup was settled, even then, he still hesitated. He was a slave- they were not carried by their owners! Soon he'd find out that dogs weren't slaves to heynas! What a strange world he'd rolled into.

Oh, she better not be seen by anyone while doing this. It would be humiliating to be seen carrying a slave around, but right now it seemed like the fastest way to get back home. These two had such tiny useless legs and it would take forever to get back unless she took drastic measures. The brown pup got up all right but the pink one was hesitating. Fine then.
"Missed your chance," she announced as she got to her feet again, "Now keep up you. And brown thing... you hang on. I'm not picking you up again if you fall."
The slave on her back managed to yank painfully at her mane and she growled a warning before starting to trot at a pace that was more comfortable to her. Hopefully the pink one would keep up.
Hanja did his best to stay put. He had got some practice while riding on Damu, but this was very different. Higher up for one thing, and the back of a hyena was very oddly shaped. He had to use his teeth to hang on to her mane while she rose, but he quickly let go when she growled at him. He wiggled his paws under the cord he found hidden under her mane instead and just hoped he wouldn't fall off. The prospect of being left alone was scarier than anything. He had just lost his mommy and he didn't want to loose the only two creatures he knew in this world.

Blackhorn- the Legend Sorry about skipping post order, I just wanted to finish up this to be able to get my little guy certed... Luckily for Skada she met no one on the way back. It would have been embarrassing to be seen carrying a slave around on her back, but she didn't fancy staying out all night just because the slaves she'd traded for were too slow. They better grow big, strong and useful soon... When they reached the outer border of Mava'bunda she dropped the brow pup to the ground. They could start meeting guards anytime and he should be rested enough to walk the last bit.Hanja had finally started to get into the riding thing. He was even enjoying it a little now when he wasn't terrified of falling off all the time. And naturally, that was when the scary hyena made him fall off. He scrambled to his paws as quickly as possible, since she had said that she wouldn't pick him up if he fell off.
"I can walk," he yelped, "Don't leave me here!""Well, lucky you," Skada drawled, "We're nearly at your new home."
She herded the two pups toward the area where slaves were kept, eager to pawn them off to someone else. She had done her part now, and while she might want to use the slaves later she was not interested in caring for them until then. Someone else could find a place for them to live and feed them. The slaves took care of their own kind for the most part.
"This is where you live," she said as she reached the slave area, "Don't follow me anymore, and don't try to run away. You can ask the other slaves if you need anything but don't go bother hyenas unless you want to get bitten."The brown pup watched the black and white hyena walk away. He inched closer to Damu since the pink boy was the only familiar face left. It had been a very long day and he just wanted to curl up in a safe corner and sleep. Come to think about it, he was too tired to care about where he fell asleep... Hopefully this day would make more sense after a nap. Hanja rested his head on his paws and stopped trying to keep his eyes open.
