One of the happy faces behind the counter was familiar to Kess as she pushed open the glass door of the small cafe, and her lopsided grin was wide in response. Dressed casually, she was clearly there on pleasure, not business, no mail satchel over her shoulder. Or so one might think.
The blonde waited her turn in the short line, before requesting a mocha of the blue-eyed brunette she was there to see. "Afternoon, Sunshine." A pause, as she listened to the hiss of milk steaming. "You off soon?" She didn't bother to look around and see who was listening.
Why should she? Haley and Kess were friends, after all, and friends were allowed to visit each other at work.
"I've got a present for you." Her smile grew, if possible.

"Get off? I can be off now," she said with a shrug as she took off the small apron she was forced to wear.
"You can't just take off in the middle of your shift," Ron, one of her co-workers hissed.
"Suck my d**k Ron," Haley said, tossing the apron to him as she pushed herself ontop of the counter, slid her legs across and hopped off to greet her friend with a hug. "A present for me? A package I need to sign off on?" She knew what she really meant, of course. It was her delivery day. "Lets head out back, okay?"
She then left work, in the middle of her shift, to do some business behind her workplace.

The lanky blonde didn't bother hiding her amusement as Ron protested, and shifted to one side while Haley moved up and over the counter. One arm returned the hug with a firm squeeze, while the other reached behind the brunette's back, fingers stretched until they came in contact with the recycled-paper cup.
Haley made her way by, and Kess took a contemplative sip of the beverage, making a face upon its completion and setting the drink back onto the counter. The blonde always got a drink, almost as if to make up for Haley, and yet, she never finished it. The truth was, her friend just didn't put enough effort into it, to make the drinking worthwhile.
Tapping the lid of the to-go cup with a finger, she winked at Ron, before sliding her sunglasses back into place. "You really should fire her, you know."
A laugh, and she was out the back door, jumping off the top step and into the sunlight.
"This is fresh from my boy back home, Sunshine, you'll dig it." A small glass jar was offered up, formerly the home of a baby food product, and now housing a few nugs of something special. Kess primarily gave small gifts in glass. It was recyclable, and the smell was less noticeable.

Haley grinned at the jar of marijuana and popped open the lid to take a whiff. It smelled good. She knew she would regret leaving her pipe behind at home that morning, and as fate would have it, she did indeed regret it. "Do you have a pipe or anything on you? Kind of want to try some of this stuff out."
She paused for a brief moment. "I should have some new stuff ready for you this week, if you'd want to trade for it? Well, by new stuff I mean a new supply of the old stuff, but you know that."

"Would I come 'round here without one?" Haley's grin was as infectious as Kess' and both girls were smiling like loons by the dumpster behind the cafe. Slim fingers found the small flashlight keychain on the carabiner at her belt loop, and quickly unscrewed and reassembled the pieces into a more-than-serviceable, if metal, pipe.
It was discrete, and that was the point. Kess didn't make a habit of sticking around while her clients smoked, nor did she sell or offer gear to do it with, but Haley was a special case.
"I'm down. I've been getting rid of it as fast as I get it, lately. It's got a good summer feeling." Kess offered the pipe to the younger girl, raising her brows. "If your mom is canning again, and digs this, I'd be down to swap for some produce or something." A shrug. The blonde didn't have time to maintain a garden, but she happened to like the perks of having one. A little green or a little green.

"I think I could swing that trade," Haley nodded. "She tends to just smoke her own stuff but I'm sure that I can convince her with a nice good sample of this. I've been trying to convince her to start a new strand or a new plant or something up, get in some diversity, but the folks are being stingy about it. They're so conservative about what type of pot we grow. So uptight."
She shrugged, not caring that her referring to her parents as 'uptight' was an obvious lie. "Now lets pack that pipe and smoke it, I can't take off of work for ---" she paused. "I can't even finish that sentence with a straight face. ******** work. Lets get high."

"Truth, you've gotta keep it fresh."
Kess was following the order long before Haley gave it, expertly packing and lighting the small pipe. A hit was taken, leisurely, before the pipe was offered to her companion.
It was a testament to her skills that she smoked as easily as she breathed, and the blonde's dark eyes shifted to the back door of the cafe, idly monitoring for company, despite her lack of fear that they should be interrupted.
"Keep the pipe," She offered, as they finished the bowl and waved a hand at the sample jar, in which a few small nugs remained. Those were for her parents. "You've got my digits."
Kess wasn't really the type to linger, when she had things to do.
