Polaris was happy enough to patrol on her own. It gave her a chance to meet new people, and to fight however she wanted without worrying about anyone complaining or backseat driving. It was the perfect time to think and mull over things too.
But as much as she liked patrolling alone Polaris loved patrolling with Niflhel. As her boyfriend and her best friend it always felt more comfortable when he was around. They could talk and chat to pass the hours on uneventful nights. Or simply be silent and contented in each other's presence. She never had to worry about him flaking.
The night had been uneventful enough for the pair. They hadn't run into anything to really fight. Their conversations had been of little consequence. She chattered a bit about the contest and the pictures she was receiving.. he talked about his lastest phonecall with his Grams. Plans for once fall came and what to do with the rest of their summer. It was an all around calm and pleasant night.
Since their most recent fight a week or more before Aurora hadn't tried to push or strain anything. If anything they're relationship had fallen back towards the way it had been before those mystical 'l' words were ever spoken between the two. It wasn't so bad really, it was comfortable, it was the relationship that had let her fall for her battle companion in the first place.
Nonetheless a thought had tickled her mind as they walked and talked and Polaris eventually stepped a little closer to the saturn squire, her hand trying to slip into his own. It wasn't the safest patrol position, but she didn't sense any danger around anyway. "Can I say something?" She offered him a soft smile as she gazed up at the few inches that he towered over her.

Niflhel seemed not to mind the quite night of patrolling with Polaris. It was better than when he was a civilian running around causing 'trouble' for the senshi. He sighed almost wistfully as he walked down the street with her occasionally chatting.
For a while his hands hand been behind his head and he was just sort of there, when his arms got tired though he let them slip slowly to his sides feeling her hand take his, he slowed a bit. "Hm?"
Glancing back at her, he was curious. It'd been rough the weeks before their fight, having to deal with jealousy and insecurities of Polaris. Niflhel couldn't help but be a little worn out still by that fact, not to mention he was always helping a lady or damsel in distress. It was part of the knight code that was spoken of in stories, seriously he wasn't going to be the knight that Chivalry died with. "What's the matter?" He added after a few seconds, hoping he hadn't done anything to upset her.

"Oh no no... nothing is the matter" She insisted quickly, her head shaking to match the words, her hand giving his a reassuring little squeeze.
"Nothing is wrong at all. I was just... thinking." She was speaking a little fast, a nervousness pretty apparent on her tone. A sheepish expression told tale that it wasn't exactly a conversation she was super comfortable bringing up, but nonetheless here it was.
"Like I know that we both feel the same about some things. About how serious we are... We're in a war of course and it isn't the time or place for things like marriage and familys. Not to mention it's far too early for anything like that anyway." The last sentence was added in super quickly after the one before, realizing how it might sound, because she certainly wasn't fishing for a proposal!
"I just..." She paused, a soft.. almost apologetic smile touching her as she stopped walking. It was not a topic she was particularly comfortable with.. especially considering how badly things had gone before. And yet here she was. Pushing it as some worries nagged her mind. Grasping for something, not too much. Just a kiss. It wasn't so much for an 18 year old girl to want a kiss was it? Even if there were more important things going on.
"I think maybe... it wouldn't be so bad if we.. if we did some things."

Niflhel watched almost owlishly as she insisted nothing was wrong but she was speaking in a nervous tone. He tried not to look concerned but eventually he sighed.
Glancing at her with a sidelong glance when she stopped, "Like what?" He asked trying not to seem like he was slightly worried about what she was asking about. Things wasn't quite a good enough request for one and the second was he wasn't sure what she expected.

Oh how she wished he wouldn't have asked that. Why couldn't he just read her mind? Why wasn't it like the movies or stories and he'd just sweep her up into a passionate kiss and whisper sweet nothing to her? To have to spell out what she wanted... It seemed so desperate.
It was pretty obvious she was uncomfortable asking what she wanted and answering his question. Her eyes seemed to beg him not to make her say it, her lips pouting softly.
He was already sighing which wasn't a good sign. But she pressed on nonetheless.
"I'm sorry... I.."
"It's just I was thinking... and if something happened to one of us.." Her heart began to patter the moment the words left her mouth.. the moment she even began to consider the thought of losing him. Her best friend.
Her free hand lifted to brush at her ivory bangs softly, her voice getting a little quieter. "I can't imagine what it would be like... if I lost you forever and we'd never even well... kissed." It was such a stupid thing to be concerned about... and yet it really and truely bothered her.

Niflhel paused and stared at her blankly, "Oh..." He seemed a bit relieved actually. God only knows what he had been thinking in his head, he reached a hand up to scratch the back of his neck.
"Is that all it is?" He paused and shrugged before taking her hand and tugging her along, he'd at least seen enough movies not to kiss the girl right after she'd asked for it. He was trying to get better with this boyfriend stuff even though he probably still sucked at it.
"Don't worry you're not going to lose me. I'm not that easy to get rid of, specially after you feed me." He tried to grin like the last part was a joke. Of course now his head was shifting with thoughts about what Polaris had just asked. "Since it's quite out how about we go watch a movie?" He suggested unsure if Polaris had any movies and well he couldn't really say home because the question of which home would come up. So he left it at the question.

Well... he didn't look mortified. That was a good sign!
Though he also didn't seem too concerned with it either. He was trying to comfort her which was fine and normal... and.. was he changing the subject!?
"Az... Niflhel!" She huffed softly as he began to lead her along, insisting stubbornly.
"I'm serious. I'm not talking about you dumping me or something. This is a war. One of us could very easily... something could happen." She couldn't bring herself to say the word.
And she was also seemingly oblivious to his attempts to be suave.

He paused, "Oh come on...." He said in protest, "... I'm serious you won't lose me. Did I tell you people thought I was dead once?" He looked at her seriously he wanted to avoid that obviously but she was trying to bring up something that he was positive he wasn't going to let happen.
"It's not going to happen again."
He then continued to tug her towards the movie theater, "Come on lets go see a late night movie I bet no one's at the theater we can watch anything we want. There won't even be a crowd!" He hoped the reel system was the same one his grandparents use to have for home movies. He could set it up pretty easy.
Obviously late night patrol's were pretty late.

Well it didn't have to BE him. It could just as easily be her... Both were too stubborn and brave for their own good. Both had proven time and again how willing they were to march into danger for sake of duty.
She did not however want to bring up the sore memories of the past because she knew how much the whole thing bothered him. Which was understandable..
Polaris was not happy, a frown still marring her face, worry obvious on her features. She supposed it was a worry she'd have to carry alone on her own shoulders. But nonetheless she didn't fight him in his request, following silently after a soft nod.
They hadn't found anything yet so the likelihood of them running into any monsters was growing slimmer and slimmer.

Niflhel sighed she seemed to look reluctant, "Oh Cheer up sour puss."
He headed up towards the roof entrance to the movie theater. "I'll pay for us a movie too, I just figured since it's one of those nights it'd be nice to chill out in here. I bet they have tons of old movies in the attic. We could find anything you wanted to watch."
He gave a nod, pretty sure they weren't going to run into anything at all.

Well.. at least it hadn't become a fight. She might not have got what she wanted, and she might have gotten brushed off, but at least it hadn't unraveled into a fight. It was the one optimistic point she could see and it helped in letting her offer a small smile in response to his teasing.
Led and in tow Polaris followed to the roof of the movie theatre, glancing around nervously. They were doing something bad.. though he had claimed he'd pay for it.. and they weren't really hurting anyone soo.. maybe it was alright. "You sure we won't get caught?"
"And you know how to work the things?" She didn't go to the movies very often, so it was a little exciting. Maybe even a little romantic. If he could really deliver well.. it wasn't something that guys could often do for their gals.

Niflhel chuckled, "I don't think this place even has a security alarm. If anything is some old guy asleep in the basement he won't even notice."
He paused, "And even if he does I'll make sure he goes back to sleep without having to hurt him." There was a smile as he slipped in through the roof door.
"Most of them are pretty easy, depends on if it's the old reel system or not. Gramps had bought one ages ago to show home movies on." He explained as they walked down the stairs. He started looking for the boxes and sure enough he ran across what he was looking for, "We're in luck." He added with a smile digging around.
"So what do you want to watch?" He was pulling out reels in different languages and some that were easy to read.

It seemed logical enough.. and besides.. they could always just run off with their super agility if someone DID show up.
Following after her she attempted to stay as quiet as she could, taking tender steps to avoid her boots making much noise.
"I... I don't watch very many movies so I don't know. You can choose."
"Just something not too overly violent. Or too ridiculously silly." Boy that sure was helpful. Fiddling with her hair mildly she tried to read some of the names on the reels.

Niflhel was humming as he shifted through the boxes and finally pulled out an older movie, cartoon. "Do you like Disney?" He asked curiously. Perhaps it wasn't the most romantic thing in the world but it was something that wasn't too violent or ridiculously silly in his book.
He was looking at the movie Aladdin, trying to remember what he could of it. Street rat who gets the girl? There was a pause and a silent nod to himself, if she approved there was something right?

For the tiniest moment, probably undetectable to the squire, there was a soft tick in her smile. The tinest movement downwards of the corners of her mouth as she thought back to a discussion and person from long ago. She hadn't seen the senshi of whirlpools in forever... long enough that it was wiser to write her off as gone forever.. but she could still hear the soft tease in her head, the sarcastic nickname. 'Disney princess'.
It was a bittersweet memory, and she was quick to usher it out of her mind.. not wanting to recall the girl all battered and bruised from a battle when she'd just been talking about potentially dying..
A disney movie would actually probably be perfect right now.
"I haven't watched any in quite a while, but I remember liking them quite a bit." Polaris nodded, brushing her hair back over her shoulders lightly. What about him though, did he like them? She supposed it was better than a sappy romance film. Compromise!
