User ImageOphelia trotted along the avenues of Moonfall. The reaper was in a particularly good mood today, having just recovered from her sickness. Due to her witch brew's side-effect, the reaper was prone to illness. With her weak immune system, she would have been bed-ridden for at least a week. But thanks to Phil, Ophelia was healthy by the third day. She wondered what was in that special tea he made her...

Humming an energetic tune to herself as it also blasted through her headphones, the reaper clasped her hands behind her back and enjoyed the bustling city. She figured she was overdue for a new romance novel and was on her way to the bookstore. Excitedly, she picked up her pace, weaving her way around others on the busy streets and darting blindly around a corner...

Walking around on a hot day was one of Theo's least favourite things to do, especially since it was terribly warm today. He liked the heat, enjoyed it in fact, but the boiling temperatures today were absolutely atrocious. It was made much worse by the pressing of warm bodies in the crowded center of Moonfall, causing Theo to sweat buckets. As he slid through the thronging bodies all headed someplace or another, Theo began to wonder why did he ever agree to work in a music shop in the center of town was just beyond him. Sure, it was fun, but the placement was just. Ugh. Theo didn't even want to think about it.

He continued, stuffing his hands in his pocket while he walked, being swept away by the crowd. Rounding a corner, he looked up briefly just before he collided with something. Said something was soft and squishy and really huggable. Theo took a step back, trying to regain his sense of equilibrium. "Watch where you're going." Theo's voice was none too polite, not too pleased by this. He gave the female he'd bumped into a rather harsh look. He would be late and he was really just wasting his time here if he dealt with her.

Shaking his head a little, Theo decided to ignore the incident and continue on before he was really late for work.

Ophelia almost jumped when she realized she bumped into something. Someone? Or did they bump into her? Either way, she ripped her headphones off and was about to say something when the person she ran into spoke first. "Watch where I'm going? Why don't you watch where you're going?!" she said as he passed her to leave. "W-wh..Hey! I'm not done talking to you! Come back here!" she added. Ophelia never did take kindly to being ignored. The reaper huffed and scampered after him before planting a heeled foot square on his back and shoving him forward.

"What kind of gentleman are you? Don't even say you're sorry to a girl you damn near knocked down." she growled as she stomped closer and crossed her arms. This guy had some nerve to ruin that good mood she had going! She would make him apologize or something better if it meant taking all day to do so.

The girl's voice cut into his thoughts like a blade, severing his train of thought. When a heeled shoe slammed against his back, Theo turned around, his eyes blazing in anger. "Who said I was a gentleman? Ahd right, I'm terribly terribly sorry." The apology was dripping with sarcasm and insincerity. "You know, most people have eyes on their heads for a reason. Or maybe you don't use yours?" Theo's voice was shaking, his tone clearly mocking as he rounded upon the girl in white. He was already running late for work, never mind this!

He just didn't have time to deal with it. "Rather than waste my time arguing with you about your vision or the lack of thereof, I have places to be. Goodbye." He glared at Ophelia once more before turning sharply on his heel and walking away, diving straight into the first mass of bodies he found and losing himself among the crowd. That girl. She had some nerve. Theo was practically trembling in anger. He shoved his way through the writhing mass of people going places before he landed in front of the music store, heading in with a face of thunder.

Ophelia's nails dug sharply into her palms as her fingers formed fists. With a slight pout, she yelled after him again, "Any MAN is also a gentleman! Unless, of course, you're just a little boy!" She taunted him, after all it was clear he wasn't -really- sorry. And that irked her. "AND FURTHERMORE" she said, trotting along behind him to catch up (does she really not have anything better to do?), "Who's to say -you- weren't looking where -you- were going?"

She stormed along behind him, following the witch until he entered...ohohoho what was this? a music store? A small grin played on her face and she slowed her gait and entered the store behind him. She wondered what he was doing here. Smoothing down some loose hairs from her hurried rush after him, Ophelia watched him out of the corner of her eye as she sifted through various CDs, curiousity replacing her anger.

That girl! The nerve she had, following him all the way here. Theo's face darkened as he headed to the back room to check-in for his shift. Well, hopefully she would leave and let him be. Theo did not take kindly to her presence, especially not her rudeness. Even if he had been rude himself. Even so.. Sighing, Theo stepped out and started towards the counter, apparently on cashier duty today.

She was irritating, as he observed her flipping through the CDs. Why he was so irritated at her, he wasn't sure, but even so. Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Theo faced his customer and began scanning the CDs he was purchasing and bagging them, taking the money and passing the man his change and the receipt. The rest of his afternoon ought to be spent in the same manner, then he would leave at last. Perhaps by then the white girl would be gone.

Ophelia continued flipping through the CDs. Her eyes flicked back and forth between the discs and the boy in blue. What could he be doing? It was barely in her periferal vision and she didn't want to make it too completely obvious she was curious about him.

She spared a glance, trying to pass it off as looking at the signs marking the different genres of music. Cashier? How quaint~ She thought, subdueing her grin. Quickly, she tore her eyes away and moved to an aisle of CDs closer to him. Country? Just her luck. She filtered through them, giving each no more than a moment's worth of interest. She continued on that way, getting lost in the rows and rows of music, mentally noting interesting band names or album titles, sometimes even individual songs. Her face became blank and expressionless, only her eyebrows quirking in reaction to an interesting looking cover art. She had completely forgotten about the witch..

By the end of the day, she had sifted through the entire store. In her hands she held 4 CDs, and she made her way to the counter. Looking up, it was like bumping into him a second time, even though only a day had passed.

"Oh! It's you..." she said, placing the discs on the counter. Closer up, she got a good look at his face. She couldn't help but think he looked very familiar. Something about his eyes...and she moved an inch or two closer for a better view.

The hours passed by in a blur of scanning items, finding change and bagging purchases. The customers slowly trickled out as the shop began to close, while the lines at the cashier began to snake around the pillars. Theo had completely forgotten about the girl. At least, that was until she stepped up to his counter, four CDs in her hands. He nodded politely, wondering why was she still here. To irritate him? If it was so, she was succeeding. Stifling the irritation, he took her CDs and scanned them in.

"That'll be $42.60, please." Theo said as he rang them up, reaching for a plastic bag under the counter. He felt uneasy at the way she was staring at him, but he opted to ignore it. Surely she wasn't trying to see whether he had ban skin or not. Still, the bright purple eyes peering so intently at him was rather unsettling. "Ma'am, your CDs." He prompted, trying to draw her attention to her purchases instead of him.

"Uh..huh?" uttered Ophelia, brought back to the matter at hand. How much did he say they were? f-forty-two sixty? Digging into her back pockets, she pulled out two twenty dollar bills ((is there special currency in this world?I know there's moon shards for alchemia..)) and placed them on the counter. That still left her 2.60 short...

Glancing up for a split second, she remembered her change from breakfast this morning. And the fact that she hadn't had lunch yet. Without thinking about it, she reached down her top and produced another two dollars that were still warm from being in her bra. Yep. Ophelia hides money in her bra.

She then glanced around the floor for a few moments, hoping to find another sixty cents lying about. She began to feel really guilty for buying four CDs instead of her usual 2 or 3. And being short on the price was really making her look bad. She bit her lip in anticipation, before nearly shouting out, "WELP, I don't have the last sixty cents! And..." she trailed off, her stomach growling. That was her 'ration money' for the day, too. Which meant her dinner would be at home tonight. Instant noodles. yay.

"I'll...uh..clean something, do something! To pay off the last bit of change.." she said, looking up with pleading eyes. She didn't want to leave feeling like she owed money. And she certainly didn't want to leave without all four CDs.

The girl finally came back to the present from wherever she was. Theo watched as the girl started digging though her pockets and pulled out two twenties. He tried his hardest to keep a straight face as she began doing god knows what, touching herself all over the very large breasts. Then apparently from her bra, another two dollar bills were magically produced. Which left the change. Keeping a very stoic expression on his face, Theo gingerly took the bills lying on the counter and began placing them in the appropriate compartments. She seemed completely flustered that she didn't have enough change. He wondered if she would maybe have some loose change in her underwear but decided against saying anything. That would only embarass her and humiliate him. He didn't need that. His ears flushed a dull red as she began begging, trying to find a way to clear up the last sixty cents she owed.

"Uhm." Theo wasn't sure how to deal with this. Deciding he'd much rather pay for it than see her beg and embarass him completely and totally - not that she hadn't already by pulling out the money from her bra - he opted to pull out his wallet and pay for that last sixty cents. Which was a shockingly nice thing for him to do, given his rather abrasive personality. "I'll pay for it. You can treat me to coffee sometime or another." He mumbled as he dug the change out from the register. Tearing off the receipt, he handed her the bag and slip of paper. "Thank you." He said politely, closing the register. The air crackled with awkward tension as Theo shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot, waiting for her to leave. The queue behind her was getting shorter, a sign that he would be able to leave soon.

For that at least, he could be thankful.

Ophelia watched silently as the boy paid for the change himself. It was only sixty cents, but she felt uneasy. Now she owed him. With the corners of her lips tensing up, she thanked him and left with her CDs. She only began walking a short distance before realizing, how would she invite him for coffee later? She didn't know his address, phone number, or anything. Not even his name!

Turning around, she stopped before reaching the door. Going back inside would make her want to buy more. And it would look odd, she thought. He -was- still working after all, and she figured there was some manner of protocol which meant asking him for his number or address would be bad. So instead, she sat down on a bench nearby and began reading through the lyrics booklets of her CDs to pass the time.

The next ten minutes or so passed in a blur of scanning CDs and counting change. As the last customer finally left, Theo let out a sigh. It had been something of a long day, and he was relieved that it was finally, finally coming to an end. After checking out, he was surprised to see the girl from earlier still hanging around outside. He figured she'd hightail out of here almost immediately, and yet, here she was.

"Hey." He called out, somewhat hesitantly. "Are you waiting for someone or something?" He asked, rubbing the back of his head, feeling somewhat sheepish. He could just ignore it and leave, but... Yeah. He didn't know why he was calling and checking on her. Not like he had any reason to. Well, none that he knew of at least. Even so.. It wasn't really safe to be out. It was getting dark.

Even just ten minutes seemed to fly by as she scanned the lyric booklets. She was just about to start the third one when a voice wrenched her back to reality. Jolting her head in its direction, she suddenly remembered why she was waiting outside in the first place. And that it was starting to get a little cold.

"Uh..yeah! I was waiting for you, numbnut." she said, trying to act tough. Deciding not to wait long enough to see if it was working, she stood up and carefully slipped the booklet back into the CD case.

"How am I supposed to get you coffee if the only thing I know about you is where you work?" she asked. Though knowing where he worked could have been all she needed, if you think about it. Just come back and drop off some coffee, or something. Maybe waiting outside was a stupid thing to do, but it was too late to just turn around and go home now.

"My name is Ophelia Thanos, either way.."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 18, 2011 7:26 pm

"...Numbnut?" Theo stared at the girl again. "Really?" He couldn't help but quirk a little smile. "Can't you come up with something better?" He was really amused by this girl, if he were honest. She seemed to be trying so hard, but clearly she was failing. Bu t that was Theo's opinion only. Others might have a difference of opinion, doubtless the girl did.

The tough facade faltered. Clearly she wasn't all that good an actress. "You know where I work, so I suppose you could come and find me anytime." Theo deadpanned in response to her question. Apparently the same thing was going through her head, judging by the emotions flickering over her face.

Ophelia, huh? Interesting name. "Well, I suppose it won't hurt to introduce myself. I'm Theofratus Menniadis, though people usually call me Theo." He shrugged. "Come on, I'll walk you back." Theo offered her a dry smile. "Unless you're that interested in spending time with me and want to go over to where I live?" He tilted his head slightly, studying her as he waited.

She seemed sincere enough, even though clearly not a person with much patience or eloquence. Or seemed to think very much about what she was doing. Marry in haste, repent in leisure. She seemed like that type. Act first, regret later. Not much different from Theo himself. Maybe, just maybe, they could become friends. Good friends.

For a moment, Ophelia considered calling him 'blue balls' as a rebuttal. But instead, she decided to save it for later, in case she really got mad at him. Shrugging it off, she simply said, "Not really trying, anyways" and looked away. Her eyes still avoided his when he called her out on finding him again but she simply shrugged again. She hated being wrong. She hated people pointing it out even more.

At his introduction, her violet eyes flicked back in Theo's direction. "Someone could choke on a name like yours" she chuckled, patting him on the shoulder roughly. "Theo it is! Until I find something more suitable.." she grinned, wondering what horrendous nickname she could cook up for him. Blue balls was still at the top of the list at this point.

His next words took her a little by surprise and a slight blush warmed her cheeks. Spend time with him! A boy she just met? Then again, the first time she met Phil, she ended up sleeping over at his house. But at least she had sickness as an excuse that time. Embarrassed, she tried to feign offense. "Y-you think I want to spend time with a jerk like you? Well, I've got news for you! I've got way bett..." she hesitated, remembering her plan-less evening. "You're lucky this time. I guess I'll see what kind of rat hole you live in." She hoped her insults would mask how atrociously she tried to hide her nervousness.
